In ancient times people used Hourglass to measure the passage of time. Hourglass is a simple device which consists of two glass bulbs that are connected vertically with a narrow neg. and that allows the flow of sand or fluid from top to bottom. most of the time the flow duration is about one hour that's why we call hourglass. This video is about How to build a digital Hourglass using Arduino.

You can download the circuit diagram from discription. Either you can use normal Arduino or you can use diy arduino in the case of diy arduino there is 5v regulator so we can input 6-15 volt

I bought the Arduino Uno, the 8X8 matrix, the ADXL accelerometer and the wires. I wired it up from Edison Science Corner and compiled it. After several seconds, I received this: Error compiling for board Arduino Uno. Below this, it says: exit status 1 - Error compiling for board Arduino Uno.
The port is Com 5. The Board: "Arduino Uno". I verified the compiler and it said the same thing. Do you know why I am having a problem?

Ich hatte die "neueren" Libraries im "hourglass-Skech-Ordner" abgespeichert und trotzdem hat der Sketch auf die älteren Dateien im "Arduino-Libraries-Ordner" zugegriffen.
Das ist für einen Laien wirklich nicht einfach zu verstehen.

No. not with this code if you want use adxl343 then you have to chenge the code
It's not a bad project, but you aren't really explaining everything. Like, what batteries do you use? Where do you connect them? Same with the button..
Check circuit diagram for details.

Take a look at this: github.com/fbrnc/Arduino_Hourglass
It contains the code as well as the dependencies. I had to reorganize the structure a bit to get it working, but got it running in the end. I ran into the same problems and after a while found a Delay library that seemed to work. After that I found out, that the code uses a different LedControl from the standard one. Way too much time later, I found the repository, that includes everything needed for the project. I hope, that this helps and good luck.
