Appreciate seeing different perspectives from the comments (as a foreigner to this) and totally understand the concerns behind it. After watching ep1, I don’t think they portrayed anything “bad” abt India. Hosts, sitting in the room, shows how ppl who haven’t visited India would react and how India was “portrayed”. Like Kian said in the beginning, you have to go there and experience the place, the people, and the culture. Modernization or outdated is just “relatively” (and I don’t think I would describe it as bad/outdated either). The country and the culture have their own pace too

Even most Indians use spoon for rice when we eat outside, only at home we use hands. Firstly, you can definitely ask for a spoon and fork if you need, generally they even provide those in restaurants. Nothing about it is disrespectful or not of our culture. Although I totally understand when he said he wanted to experience eating with hands. It must be unusual for people who are not used to it. Funny, how he dipped his hands too far into the hot chicken bowl. 😂
Second of all, as he said, he wanted to make a rice ball, but the problem with that is, most Indian Rice are not sticky, unlike Korean or Japanese Rice. So it was not possible.
As for us Indians eating cleanly, even with our hands...the thing is, we have literally mastered that from the moment we start eating ourselves as kids. I remember my mother teaching me to eat properly, using only the fingers, and not letting any food touch the palm of my hand. Also, not using two hands, for as a kid eating fish; I used to use two hands, one to separate the fish bones and one to eat. I was a very messy eater as a kid, and even is as an adult. 😆

When I eat in a restaurant, irrespective of what type of food I always ask for spoon. When I eat at my house or my relatives or friends' house I only use hands. When we eat using our hands we use finger tips, whether it is rice or roti or any other food. Our fingers, palm remain dry. However for first time eating one can mess up the process. But its ok if you ask for spoon since I or many Indians do while eating out.

That is nothing disrespecting, u van eat with spoons too. The only thing we eat with hands is we like to feel the food which is warm and delicious, when u eat with spoon the quantity is less , it doesnt feel like eating anything
