      I got two British blue x’s and a lovely Hereford x, having a bit of trouble with scours but I’m on top of it with nutri scour seems to be working, they’re not losing condition or looking sorry think it’s maybe change of milk and feed that we’re used to. I’m enjoying it, your video spurred me on to go get them thank you 👍🏻🐄

    We aren't small scale 200+ calves every year but we use a 200l blue drum with 14 teats on it, clear tubes down to the base. Cheap, recycling and works. Happy farming.

    Hi, can i ask do you buy different ages so you have a constant flow of cash through the market, buying and selling or do you something else for the tim while there being reared? im a calf rearer in dairy farms but looking at going it alone for the first and wondered how you manage to cash flow, as i know some others sell lamb for the constant

    • @gwenyngruffydd
      @gwenyngruffydd  2 роки тому +2

      Hi Elizabeth,
      The main part of our business is bees and honey.
      Farming is a side business. We do roughly 6-8 calves a year + the sheep. We haven’t got anymore land to keep more.
      Cash flow with the calves I would say you need to buy and sell a batch almost every month to make it viable if your going to rely on the money.
      One good thing with calves is there is always plenty of calves to buy and people always want to buy weaned calves.

      Khalil Ahmed no problem.
      I used Cwm Nant milk powder all of last year on those calves and worked really good. Good price and results.
      Still using that powder this year. But I’m going to try a new french powder off a new supplier this year to see what it’s like. Will do a video if I’m happy with it.

    Do u give hay to your calfs

    • @gwenyngruffydd
      @gwenyngruffydd  4 роки тому

      Hi,
      Not right at the start just straw and feed when they get here. Once they come to around 8 weeks of age I start feeding hay and slowly replace the straw with hay.

      The fatty farmer nice!! 😊 blues are one of my favourite calves. In the past I have always had s good price for them when selling.
      Growing your channel is a hard one. It’s something I’m still trying to do. I’ve been at it a year solid and I’m happy with the growth so far.
      I won’t give you advice as I don’t think I’m qualified to give any on this topic but il share with you what I’m trying to do.
      I’m trying to put out one video a week. Of good quality content. Educational and entertaining. Sticking to what I know and just sharing it.
      If you look up “how to grow my channel” on UA-cam there are some fantastic videos with good tips.
      Hope that helps. And good luck with the calves 😊

    How come they are on straw at first, why not hay ? Also how long does it generally take a day to feed them ?

    • @gwenyngruffydd
      @gwenyngruffydd  Рік тому

      Straw is full of fibre and is really good for their digestive system. Hay can make them bloaty if fed to yearly.
      20-30 mins day and night to do a batch of 6 calves. It would take the same time if you had 20 calves.

      @gwenyngruffydd I intend to quit my job and start a calf-rearing farm. One-day to one-month calfs are sold at open marketplaces.
      The plan is to buy calfs, raise them for five to six months, then sell the males and keep the females until they get pregnant before selling them. However, I am unable to locate any knowledgeable individual or business for kids' food or milk substitutes.
      If you are able to assist me, I would be
      very thankful. With gratitude
