Honestly this made me upgrade my Patreon subscription to Tier 2. I feel like Aiden gets talked over a lot on the main podcast and in the primo episode just based on him being a more polite and quiet guy. On a show with a smaller roster such as this one he really comes alive and is way more talkative, which is great and super refreshing.
Goddambit, this is great fuckin patreon marketing. I adore the energy between Slime and Aimen, and now i think after over a year of watching, i finally gotta get the Patreon.
went to my first local recently and was so nervous but as soon as you get there you realize that you are in a place with a bunch of people who love the game that you love. you learn so much by getting your ass beat (inevitable at your first local). I think before your first local you have this idea that you lose and the entire room turns and starts laughing but it's just not like that at all. go to your local and support melee.
Love hearing the boys talk about melee. Only played the campaign and against my siblings when I was young so I have no understanding of it at a competitive level. Yet their enjoyment and passion for the game is so beautiful to listen to.
The comparison to College football is so perfect because it's so right. The hypest games are the ones where its not to goliaths waiting for one mistake to try and gain that slight competitive edge. The hype games are when you got two dudes/teams that are really really good compared to normal people but make a ton of mistakes and can make it a lot of fun.
As a budding competitive apex player, that “I could be the best” is so incredibly true. I had dreams and daydreams ab my name all over LAN. It’s the most inspiring thing.
In the south (excluding Florida) the majority of football watchers prefer College football. One of the main reasons is because the talent in the SEC is made of mostly future NFL players. Also College football allows fans to feel more conected to the team due to it being associated to a school they either attended or in the state they grew up in.
Top 64/32 definitely way more exciting when you're more familiar with names and stuff. Great snippet, don't know why it just got posted on r/SSBM lmao but cool to listen.
As a competitive melee player who started in 2006 and doesn't make it out as often as I used to, it makes me so happy to hear the passion for the game and see growth still possible. Keep putting melee on the big stage guys!
Slime talking about the trial by fire mentality of melee players resonates with me so much as someone who learned and got good at SC2 during it's peak.
started the melee grind to start going to locals in my area. Been a viewer since 2017-2018 but actually going to start playing thanks to stories like this.
When you guys talked about the getting beat down repeatedly and appreciating your opponent that really helped me understand why I had such a burning passion for a game I play a lot. I never knew how to put it into words but y’all did it perfectly. I play a game called conquerors blade which is a really niche and small community game and one of the goats is named Pyan-1 or pyanmage on twitch and I just loved to watch his streams and learn from his game play he’s the mango of our game great dude too
never got into melee, but my local scene has started doing rivals 2. I totally expected to get destroyed, but i ended up winning the first local and have come second at the last 3. im super happy i decided to go because I've made a bunch of new friends who are interested in something I really like, so I just want to say thank you for inspiring so many people to continue with this hobby 💗
This is a fun and good video. I think that Melee seems like such a phenomenal community. But I don’t think that I would ever join it because it still seems like hopping into this community that I’ll never recognize the beauty of as well and as holistically as members like you. Instead of joining the community that has fostered all of this love and growth for you, trying to capture it for myself, I feel like the ‘more respectable’ course is to learn from it and try to foster my own.
This is the advice show and hosted them two alone for about 6 total episodes now but it’s tier 2 and it has no set schedule they kinda just put ‘em out when they’re ready
I would be playing melee if I didn't live in the woods with bad internet with my family still, but when I move eventually I'll finally be able to play melee against other people
I don't play smash- well i do, but not competiviely- but Ive gone to many tournaments and even entered a few (to get destroyed) and its always a blast. I go with my friends and its always super fun! Its so fun to get to know players, and the community as a whole. I encourage people to try anything, no matter how good you are, how are you going to regret trying?
I started playing melee at the end of 2018 beginning of 2019, got into it because of the documentary and had to play on anthers ladder. Getting into the game was brutal but it was so worth it. Good times
The only reason I haven't exactly been in smash even though I've watched so many people who play it and I've even watched tutorials on how to begin is mostly because I'm still overwhelmed with how to even get playing, otherwise I've watched tournaments and they feel so exciting
I went to a hometown Melee comp around 2012 and destroyed as Peach, So I feel like an old Dan peach main. Unfortunately my hands don't work like they used too.
I wish that fighting game locals where a thing where i live it really sucks being into fighting games in smaller places in the world I feel like i'm missing the best part of fighting games
You can't compare Smurfs in VAL/FPS to being beaten by more experienced FG players. There's a HUGE difference in terms of skill for FPS games that Fighters can never reach. 1 Immortal/radiant can wipe a team of 5 golds. 1 #1 player can't beat a team of 5 average smash players.

So grateful to get this exclusive paywalled discussion between two lovers, although I was hoping to see Slime's new hair, ngl

Nick is essential not just because of his place on the pod but because of how much he does behind the scenes
lmao that initial cut to slime, i was not expecting him to be sat like that omg
Slime and Aiden are a surprisingly good duo considering how different they come off on the main pod
No they're the same
always love these more sincere and slightly more intimate clips always nice to hear someone talk about something they love and are passionate about
i like horizontal slime
Goddambit, this is great fuckin patreon marketing. I adore the energy between Slime and Aimen, and now i think after over a year of watching, i finally gotta get the Patreon.
Melee is the only game where I will get clearly outplayed by three strangers in a row and still have an amazing time

as soon as you realize you're around a bunch of other dudes with no soical skills it becomes so much more fun
Love hearing the boys talk about melee. Only played the campaign and against my siblings when I was young so I have no understanding of it at a competitive level. Yet their enjoyment and passion for the game is so beautiful to listen to.
i love when they talk about people who found melee through them, cause im the opposite lol i found them through melee
Sorta wish this was put onto like a main channel, cause I'd love to see huge crowds at melee still

love the lads talkin about melee
Top 64 being like college football is on point

really enjoyed this ! love to see more melee etiquette for beginners and stories in general

Was not ready to see slime sitting like that

aiden could do a killer Gary V impression
this was a beautiful discourse. feels super cozy. all love to the yard boys, long live melee 🤝
this is my “i saw the tv glow”
As someone who never got into melee but is into the greater fgc as a whole this is a great take from the yard boys
shades of power hour. this duo is my new fav.
Bro i’m taking finals right now, and i watched this clip and laughed out loud in a quiet class when it cut to slime
I was a doc kid who never got into the scene and it's one of my biggest regrets, if anyone's on the fence, go.

nothing prepared me for the angle slime is sitting in

actually such a good conversation
I really like aidens sweatshirt, we need more classic yard merch
Slime trying to sneak in that he's not a psychopath is one of the funniest lies I've ever heard.
First 1:30 Aidan has some meth vibes lmao

In Houston and Kansas City pretty much all friendlies are rotation, not winner stays. It depends on the region
I’m a long time yard listener and I’m really wanting info on houston Area smash
Started going to verdugo last year cause of the pod literally life changing
10:35
aiden says "time" like a muppet character
LMAO why is this so accurate
fire video, really made me reflect on why I love this game so much :)
This is a fun and good video.

is the power hour a weekly thing bcs i am considering to sub to the patreon if it is. slime is electric and aiden is mother.

im not used to slime being nice to aimen ngl but this was a comfy listen
listen to the ep after genesis when aiden was talking about his loss. aiden and slime are iconic
I started playing melee at the end of 2018 beginning of 2019, got into it because of the documentary and had to play on anthers ladder. Getting into the game was brutal but it was so worth it. Good times
love some patreon sneak peeks

aiden's gentle voice doesn't match up at all with his haircut bruhh 😭
I’m glad slime’s liking sf6
beautiful video

Good ass video man
I wish that fighting game locals where a thing where i live it really sucks being into fighting games in smaller places in the world I feel like i'm missing the best part of fighting games
Show could be called "slime and 3 ofher guys for some reason idk"
I play a very shitty Falcon and I’m terrified of locals this helped
I’ve been to Big House 10, a local and Combo Breaker and I have yet to find another new player 😭😭
Aiden is my goat
upload more patreon snippet for us poors
Not saying anything to someone who lost is massive and something even veteran players fuck up
Thats how i sit in the shower
algo
It's good to see Anthony and not Slime for a change
YOOOO FOR FREE?
where is the dangerous man fishing? what does that sign mean? why does aidman look like he's 38 even though he's only 35?
Too bad I live in Arkansas and there's nothing in my state :(
😊
College football > NFL
really stretching the meaning of a "clip" here

You think that Cody schwab would lose a crew battle just him v.s 5 random guys at a local ?
Mang0 could snort more cocaine than Fnatic, Cloud9, and Team Liquid's valorant teams combined. And he's not even our #1, he's #11.
and thats just valorant. csgo players are a whole nother breed
Slime=bald (great vid tho)
misspelled bald
Too bad I live in Arkansas and there's nothing in my state :(
Hey! Super old comment but hit up Smapz, he drives to events in OK and is a super chill player in west Arkansas :)
