I am so enjoying your tutorials. I am 75 years old and have been a flute player for 65 years. However, I had originally wanted to play the harp, but my school only taught band instruments, so that’s how how I began my journey into music. This past year I have lost my husband of 55 years. To make a long story short, I have now enrolled in harp lessons at our local cultural center. This is so very different from the flute, but I’m very excited to start. I would love to keep you updated on my progress , as a senior citizen. I personally want to prove that I am not too old to learn the harp. Looking forward to this long time dream. Thank you . That is awesome. I'm almost 27 your story makes me feel very confident I can learn too. Must be awesome to have such a lifetime of music, I'm new to it I can even read it yet but I fingerstrum a Lyre harp pretty good. Any secret tips you've learned from a lifetime of music you can give me plzzz
Oh, that first harp story is so sweet! I’ve been wanting to play the harp since I was a child but my family is already full of musicians so it was more cost effective for me to play instruments that my parents already had experience with. But now, pushing 40... I finally got one!
Aw that’s so amazing that you’re able to learn now!! One thing that is super positive about learning as an adult, is it won’t feel like a “chore” that you have to do, but something you really want to do!!
This has been just the thing to brighten a rainy day in Corona Virus lock down! Thank you so much, for all you do; may God bless you and your sisters greatly.
Thank you for this video. I had y sister play the flute and her friend play Mozart's flute and harp concerto 2nd movement at our wedding 32 years ago. It was so beautiful I decided that one day I would learn the harp. Just started 8 mths ago. I really love your enthusiasm and am enjoying my free lesson, Over the rainbow. Thank you very much!
I happen upon your UA-cam site and I fell in love with your music and personality. The harp music has captured my soul. I know David in the Bible played the harp and would bring peace to Saul's torments. I never really thought about the harp until now. Wow, now you sparked me to want to play. Now to figure out how to get started. What is the kind of harp you have? When I can get a harp, I would love for you to help me learn to play! I have played so many of your past UA-cam postings. Thank you for my inspiration, and such a beautiful personality.
Hi Anthony, thanks for your comment! Yes it’s amazing how the Lord uses the harp to calm people. It’s a privilege to be a part of that. My harp is a Ogden from Lyon and Healy, but there are plenty other great harps around! Perhaps you have already seen my video where I give my thoughts about buying a harp? It’s great to go for a floor harp if you can (as opposed to a lap harp), but you could get a harp that’s a bit less expensive than mine. It’s up to you 😊 All the best as you make these decisions, I’m sure you’re going to enjoy it!!
So glad I watched this! It was so encouraging! And yes I do hug my harps!!!

I started at 52 and have been playing now for 20 plus years. No regrets...

Greeting from South Africa! Well done, it’s so exciting that you’re learning to play the harp! 😃🙌🏻💕
Julia's narrative of her harp journey is so eloquently expressed, and could have been written right out of my own thoughts. Beautiful!

Hello from Melissa in Sweden.
Thank Julia! I am now where you were: 'Is it even legal?' 👮♀
What do you think of Stoney End double-strung harps? What's your opinion of double strung harps, and which is your favorite for hymns?
Adam Karelius I’d like to know as well. I’m currently looking at these myself.
Watching from Australia at 5.30am
LOL -- so you didn't "chop off" the first "chat/live" part -- which is fine, because this is more fun!
Hehe, glad you liked it! 😂 I’m still going to, but I thought I’d leave it up for a bit.
@@LearningtheHarp I say leave it as is -- maybe just put a note about where the "official" video begins if people want to move ahead.
