The name mphil has been replaced by MPsy. That's not discontinuation, that's modification. And psychologists' role is not limited to counselling. They are trained to provide evidence based psychotherapies and do psychometric assessment which anyway can not be done by all psychiatrists. Not all psychiatrists are trained to do these two because it's not usually part of their curriculum and training program. Get your facts correct before commenting on public forum.

If you know what are the roles and responsibilities of a clinical psychologist then you would have understood why so many people are commenting that she is giving misleading information or may be deliberately trying to defame other mental health professions other than Psychiatry. Psychiatry is neither the ONLY mental health profession existing presently nor that other mental health professionals act as the assistant of a psychiatrist, which she is trying to imply through her words.

I totally agree with Sudipa mam. Please reach out to someone who is empathetic and unbiased towards members of the mental health professional. She herself feels the burden of seeing hundreds of pts in ESI hospital, but amidst them she gives 30 mins to counselling family members of pts with Dissociative Disorder. Madam, I would advise you to delegate the work responsibilities (related to Psychotherapy and psychometry) to clinical psychologists, thereby helping you to actually do your own technical job of being a psychiatrist, and also not violating boundaries at the work place. This is how work is done in government set ups and private set ups , otherwise I am sorry to say, she herself would end up experiencing clinical stress and anxiety.
