This is very useful! I am definitely using the technique explained on Roof #2. I think it would look very realistic in wood and stone builds, like exposed beams.

hey thisis a great tutorials! i love your videos like this! i got some tips also for roofing
you can hold SHIFT and drag on a eave guides to extend/decrease the size of the eave one sided only so you can make asymetrical eaves.
also you can hold Shift+C while you select a roof you can get more control of your roof for more crazy shaped roofs!
