Quite symbolic and also somewhat ironic that the brother of a magnificent Johann Strauss II, as we know him, stepped in right on time at a hurried attempt to produce the musical basis of what eventually was presentable at the Industrialists Ball during the Carneval around this time 159 years ago (next year we celebrate a rounded anniversary it seems) - and Josef just nailed the composition, as it couldn't be more fitting for the occasion, despite the short amount of time. Business association events seemed to be much more elegant almost two centuries ago. The opening, powerful brass section, the (until the middle part) gradually slowing, then again speeding strings, plus the perfect closing all reflect in some way the lifetime achievement of the Strauss family, like a fine compilation of various "best of" waltzes. This recording by the well known Russian orchestra is a superb tribute, as demonstrated in the loud applause after the closing sequence. Thanks for the upload!
Though I listen to this Viennese waltz for the first time, I have really fallen in love with it! It is amazing, beautiful, classy, dignified and elegant. I am sure I will keep listening to it once after another until I am sick of it. But I do not think I will ever dislike it. Thanks a lot for posting this clip.
I am from Russia . Only knew and liked music of Johann Strauss who was very popular . I discovered this very beautiful and elegant waltz by his brother Josef Strauss and love it . Thanks for posting it . SPASIBO . ❣ 🌹 🌷
This waltz surely belongs to the best among Josef's opus numbers 100-200. The brilliant interpretation under Pavel Kogan's direction perfectly mirrors not only the truly Viennese, dance character of this music, but also the composer's masterful orchestration. Thank you for sharing this amazing rarity!
Der Associationen Walzer von Josef Strauss, sehr schön gespielt vom Moscow State Orchestra unter Leitung von Pavel Kogan.Besonders freut mich das eingestellte Bild. Dieses mal ein Aquarellgemälde von Carl Wenzel Zajicek "Christmarkt am Hof".Vielen Dank!
Very amazing and beautiful Josef Strauss waltz. The perfomance was brilliant and Pavel Kogan and the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra were amazingly fantastic. Great work.

It's much better than well known recording from the Marco Polo ’s complete edition series of Josef Strauss ❤
