There is a difference. Listening with quality studio monitors and noticed a difference but not sure which I like better, the series sounds to me like it has more balls, parallel sounds like it has more definition.
SERIES finger 1:13 slap 1:33 pick 1:55 PARALLEL finger 1:24 slap 1:43 pick 2:08 I feel a bit of difference in pick style only...but mostly about volume...it' s a very strange thing because in this video ua-cam.com/video/nYvoriS8fi8/v-deo.html you can listened to a big difference
Why not get the short scale version? You can switch between parallel, single, series of the pickup... There's a distinct difference in tone between all three...
I just finished doing this mod myself with a CTS pot. In parallel, I feel like I get a more cleaner even sound. In series, the output is much hotter, with scooped mid frequencies. With the amp at the same gain and volume settings, it’s also much louder in series than in parallel.
Sound similar to me through studio quality speakers but that's a great idea. I may leave in series cuz my EB Stingray has the 3 band eq and I want the 2 band sound.
I had a hard time telling the difference on my tiny tablet speakers but neither really sounded like my Stingray Special. Perhaps you can tell us what you are hearing between the two settings since you're hearing it live. I like the push pull switch idea, I just don't hear any difference.
Minute differences but they do make a difference. Ear buds will probably help you hear the changes better. Hard to describe but I say series has a less "direct" sound, almost like listening through a window from a different room and parallel is like removing the window barrier and sticking your head inside. Weird, I know, but I can't really describe it any other way
Admittedly, the difference isn’t huge and is even less discernible when being recorded with my iPhone microphone. Series is a bit louder with more mids, to my ears.
Actually My ears dont hear that mutch diff. Between finger style , slap and pick; Althow with the Pick, the parallel sounded a little more Brighter. I simply find that they are very similar. Tx. Always good to have Options! J.p.
Could not decern any difference from my laptop speakers, but I will say these basses are not far off from the MM Stingray USA versions. I own 5 USA stingrays and have a 5 string on it's way like the one above. I will do a demo once it arrives, and you can decide what you think. I would stay away from the sub series, although made in the same facility as these, they are miles apart in electronics and quality. Pay it more and get a fantastic bass.
Totally disagree. The sub series are great basses. Only thing they need is a pickup swap. The playable of the sub series basses are great especially if a person prefers a slim Jazz neck.
If there is a difference, it does not seem to be a distinction. I seemed to only hear a difference in attack when he used a pick. I have seen several series/parallel conversion videos and generally hear NO difference when played. Probably also the case live in a band setting. But the response might be different and nobody has commented in how the feel changes with series/parallel. Otherwise appears to not be worth the trouble.
It’s definitely not a night and day difference, and you’re right, it probably doesn’t come across well in a UA-cam video. You certainly wouldn’t notice in a mix. Thanks for watching!
How much did it cost to put the push/pull? There wasn’t a $$ amount worth it unless it was free. Just use the eq on the guitar or amp. Great sounding Bass either way and an awesome video👍🏽
Any chance you could tell me the exact push pull potentiometer which was used for that mod? Wanna do this myself with my girlfriends stingray. thanks in advance!
J'ai de bonnes enceintes d'écoutes, des M-Audio Studio qui ne dénature pas le spectre sonore, ainsi qu'une écoute avec un casque AKG... aucune différence entre les deux !!!
Why bother wiring in parallel, the coils are so close it's pointless, series gives hotter pups, darker, thicker sound.....although the difference here is so small, it's not all noticeable 😎
Sorry to say. But now as I have watched several vidoes about this issue I must say that your bass shows almost no difference when you switch between the wirings,
Definitely hear a difference.Awesome for using it for whatever song you are playing👍
There is a difference. Listening with quality studio monitors and noticed a difference but not sure which I like better, the series sounds to me like it has more balls, parallel sounds like it has more definition.
Got the same feeling. Parallel had a bit more clarity but Series hit harder
I hear the biggest difference on the finger style. Helpful video, thanks for making it!
Nice bass! I put ear buds in and cranked the volume. Seems like parallel is a bit fatter sounding finger style.
I hear the difference but I would use parallel only.
SERIES
finger 1:13
slap 1:33
pick 1:55
PARALLEL
finger 1:24
slap 1:43
pick 2:08

Parallel sounds fatter, great mod, best of both worlds. I wired mine in parallel I was looking for a fatter old school tone
It shouldn't do, but series would. Parallel by it's very nature means a glassier, weaker tone, not worse or better, but different.

Thank you for the video, been wanting to buy one,

That's what I thought, like dead strings 😂
Ray 24ca vs ray 4 vs ray 5 HH which one better
It's a slight difference. I wouldn't spend money on getting it rewired.

What are YOUR personal opinions on the diff.
Jp.

Dude, that's such a great idea. I'm going on do the same thing to mine as well.
Couldnt hear any noticable difference.
Series Parallel sound exactly the same! Can you actually play 3 full sets? If so show me! Challenge! lol
Something isn't right. There is normally a marked difference between the two. There should be much more of a scooped mids tone in parallel .
The series sounds a tad brighter. I like the parallel sound better.
There was a more noticeable difference when I did this to my jazz bass.
Always played my Stingray 5 in series. Has more balls and less sizzle.
How much did it cost to put the push/pull? There wasn’t a $$ amount worth it unless it was free.

i can't hear a difference.....
Nice bass brother
Weight????
I don't know if the slight difference is worth the price of the mod
What do you think that mod would cost? Thanks.
@@fredparker3384 push/pull knob wiring and a technician that's not your friend I'd say 150-200 USD
Series sounded better. more bass like, more lower end. In my opinion no need to rewire.
Why bother wiring in parallel, the coils are so close it's pointless, series gives hotter pups, darker, thicker sound.....although the difference here is so small, it's not all noticeable 😎
Parallel for sure but I didn’t hear a difference when slapped
Io l'ho sentita
😂 I can hear no difference
I couldn’t hear the difference. I thought the bass sounded great either way.
Subtle

Awesome!
not a big difference
Not much of a difference at all. The audience wouldn't be able to tell the difference and wouldn't care🤷🏾♂️
You’re not wrong! The same could be said for the vast majority of bass modifications and gear changes. Cheers!
