Our defence ministry had the books some of which had been translated but the refuse to issue them to me. Finally in 2010 I found 7 satchels of books for the station in Czech Republic.Books speak of “assured communication” with “noise adaption” and as you say using preset frequencies. I assumed this was frequency agile using the preset channels.
My favorite station. For information:adaptive equipment of the P-016B "Cherry" is used for the formation of the radio channel (telephone /telegraph) with the same station. Faults P-016B receiver reconstructs (0.3 s) of sub-15, are separated from the fundamental frequency of 100 Hz from each other (7, 7, left and right). Thus through its transmitter rebuild transmitter (2-3 seconds) correspondent. If you get away from the noise persists, then the "Cherry" takes the receiver to another fixed rate.

My only source of information comes from exploring the station itself and its documentation in Russian and Czech languages. If I understand your question: Unfortunately, I have no idea why the designed did not include authomatic antenna matching unit. The station was developed during 1979- 1981. As far as I know, at that time, only UHF (>30MHz) Soviet radios had automatic matching units (e.g. R-111). Regards Dan

Hi Joe, Not sure if wee speak about the same functionality. I have R-140, and it doesn’t provide an automatic tuning of ATU, in order to match the antenna impedance. It has motor-driven tuning system with lobes and switches, that allows fast retuning to one of 10 pre-selected frequencies. However, on each pre-selected frequency, at first the operator must tune the ATU manually. Same holds for R-137. R-161A2M has a similar feature, implemented with semiconductor memory and vacuum relays. BR Dan

It is true that some parts of the documentation of the equipment, including encrypted control communication between the near and the far receiver transmitter is in the «CC».

The station came to me in a complete but non functional state. I had to repair and understand it by trial and error. The drum contacts on the P.A. turret are home made. К сожалению нет. Фотоплёнка осталась у сослуживца, который сейчас на другом конце света и мы с ним потеряли связь. На счёт лазури. Да я ошибся - это возбудитель а не приёмник.
