      @@wisconsinpotatoes How come all my local grocery stores have damn potatoes from Idaho or Minnesota? Seriously, I rarely see any grown from Wisconsin. Is it because I am in North-Western WI(close to that crap state next door?) I'm good since I planted many potatoes in my garden this year. I've picked some but have many that will be ready this week. I'm going to freeze dry them, just got my Harvest Right freeze dryer. First thing I'm trying in it.

    • @wisconsinpotatoes
      @wisconsinpotatoes 3 роки тому +22

      @@kellyt5341 - If you don't see WI potatoes in your stores, you can always ask the produce manager to get them for you and direct them to us if they need a resource. The Kitchen Kleen Potatoes brand from Nuto Farms are in that area. Also, if you see "Tasteful Selections" or anything from Alsum Farms, you are buying WI product. You can also turn over the bag and look for "packaged and distributed by" a location in WI as the address will be listed. These are just a few examples. Let us know if you have any other questions. And good luck with your potato crop!

    • @Kelly_Grey
      @Kelly_Grey 2 роки тому +3

      @@TheOReport1994 that sounds tricky. I'm used to the cold dictating the growing season for potatoes but by you I think the heat will be the biggest factor. I could be wrong though. Potatoes take 3 months to grow and don't like it too hot or too cold. There are varieties that are more heat tolerant so I would look into any locally owned seed/feed stores for advice. And farmers markets. Once you know the best kind for your area, they may tell you to plant early or late to avoid that triple digit heat (again, that's only a hypothesis on my part.) Give them plenty of water in the morning or evening hours during summer. Do not plant them near tomatoes (they're both nightshades and can transfer disease to each other). Best of luck to you!
