I keep hearing people joking about puting Raisins in potato salad. Who the hell is doing this? I have eaten a lot of potato salad in my day and not once have I ever come across a dried up grape.
Me either. And I have eaten potato salad in Florida, Deep South states, Pennsylvania, California and Washington. And maybe a few others while driving cross country. I like raisins in some salads but the idea of raisins in potato salad is repugnant.

Is it because I am in North-Western WI(close to that crap state next door?) I'm good since I planted many potatoes in my garden this year. I've picked some but have many that will be ready this week. I'm going to freeze dry them, just got my Harvest Right freeze dryer. First thing I'm trying in it.

@@kellyt5341 - If you don't see WI potatoes in your stores, you can always ask the produce manager to get them for you and direct them to us if they need a resource. The Kitchen Kleen Potatoes brand from Nuto Farms are in that area. Also, if you see "Tasteful Selections" or anything from Alsum Farms, you are buying WI product. You can also turn over the bag and look for "packaged and distributed by" a location in WI as the address will be listed. These are just a few examples. Let us know if you have any other questions. And good luck with your potato crop!
@@TheOReport1994 that sounds tricky. I'm used to the cold dictating the growing season for potatoes but by you I think the heat will be the biggest factor. I could be wrong though. Potatoes take 3 months to grow and don't like it too hot or too cold. There are varieties that are more heat tolerant so I would look into any locally owned seed/feed stores for advice. And farmers markets. Once you know the best kind for your area, they may tell you to plant early or late to avoid that triple digit heat (again, that's only a hypothesis on my part.) Give them plenty of water in the morning or evening hours during summer. Do not plant them near tomatoes (they're both nightshades and can transfer disease to each other). Best of luck to you!

Two windrowers digging and dumping two rows each out of six rows into the middle. Then the harvester comes along and digs the middle two rows and picks up the potatoes dumped in the middle. Dead vines and dust are blown out the back and "hard potatoes" are dumped at each turn around for collection later. Got it?
That was brilliant. I love...I mean LOVE the way Charlie showcases things....and the way he sneaks in positive spins on things...and mostly the way he encourages giving. It's brilliant, refreshing and funny. How amazing!!!!!!
I'm a meat n taters guy. I love all forms of tater recipes but my faves are Yukon Golds and Baby Reds. Been craving Scalloped. Want a farmers omlette with has browns I'm it with a side of potato bread toast. American fries with kielbasa or smoked sausage n fried eggs. Hell just cut some Russets in half n toss em in a Chuck Roast with carrots, onion, brussel sprouts etc. etc. etc.
