not trying to be too nitpicky, but as a norwegian it is kind of a frustrating misconseption. it was actually norway which first colonised and integrated greenland, but not long after this they were taken over by denmark. greenland still remained a part of the norwegian half of denmark-norway, until denmark was forced to cede norway to sweden after the napoleonic wars. as a compromise to not weaken denmark too much, they were allowed to keep most major norwegian islands, including, the faroe islands, iceland and greenland.
