I can't thank you enough for posting this. My neighbor asked if I could get this Yard Machine 3.5 hp edger to work. He bought a carburetor and changed it out but didn't know how the linkage went. It's hard to believe how hard it was to find the exact match. OBTW, the previous owner left ethanol gas in the tank for a year and the gunk in the tank plugged the carb. I de-rusted the tank.
Thank you not2fast4u2c, your video saved my day with my old Craftsman tiller that the carb and linkage had been removed from and hasn't ran in years, replaced the carb followed your instructions on the linkage and it fired right up, and ran like a top, Thanks again !
I purchased a small gocart with this engine (siezed) and the linkages were all missing. With a few weeks of soaking, I got the piston and valves unstuck and once I replaced the very damaged carb, it ran great with manual throttle control. I used guesswork for the linkages and that has been a failure so far so your pictures are invaluable! Thank you!!!
I just purchased a gokart with this motor on it also. They replaced the carb with one off of a tiller and it's missing the governor spring, and the linkage for the throttle under the tank is all messed up and not in contact with the teeth. I plan to move the throttle up top. Unless I can find a way to replace the linkage unted the tank? And where did you find the governor spring and other linkage for replacement?

Glad I could help THANKS for watching
@@not2fast4u2cwhat does the linkage do that runs below the fuel tank? Mine has that mounting plate but no linkage. Is it important? Thanks!

Great stuff! Yes, UA-cam videos are great for keeping a record of things. I'm always going back to my old videos.
creamofcardstv Having a camera is a Great tool when working on a project and I can share it with all the world !!!
Wow that is a clean engine! Like working on older motors that are in really nice shape, like going back in time. :-)
Craig Arndt It is in good shape I worked on B&S engines since I was a Kid and always enjoyed doing it This is a fun project
Could it be possible to hook up a mikuni style carb
Good project! I have an older craftsman generator with the exact motor ... I like going through small motors like that!

Funny you told yourself to stay on the subject. Mrs Bruce laughed at that. Are you doing a valve job?
Bruce
Bruce Pender I do have to watch myself so I don't Ramble on ...The compression is really good so for now we will run it as is and see how it does
not2fast4u2c
You must agree the best part of a post is when someone rambles on.
Bruce Pender I do enjoy watching random videos made by the people I'm subbed to It is more natural then those big time TV shows with actors
Good go kart engine
