Whoopi is the type of woman who doesn’t color her grey hair or wear makeup. A Natural woman I Love ❤️
Sometimes feel like they are going extinct.
A natural beauty 🙄
Yes! She looks magnificent without it, and her skin GLOWS!
She does both actually, but often not.
@@cindyt8278 Her supporte to the genocid e of the palestinain make her ugly
Whoopi doesn't NEED makeup! We love her just the way she is!
😅
I have gone 4 years without wearing make up and I am not looking back. It’s a shame that both women and men have the pressure to meet certain standards. I do agree you should dress the part but superficial things should not matter.
Its entirely about business profits and misappropriated psychological manipulation to push individuals with lesser self-esteem to compensate with product X.
Or use their interest in an actor, musician, model as a segue into buying and using their product.
I actually look better without make up on. And I’m lucky that I don’t have to wear it. But I will never forget my first job when I moved here to South Florida working for Resort&spa in Palm Beach, my boss came up to me and told me to go put make up on. I instantly miss living on the West Coast. But now everyone is so fake anyway with their fake eyelashes and fake hair. Yes I think it’s a standard for women. And they are expected to have a certain to get ahead and to get hired.
Keep the curly hair, Sunny!!! Represent us curly haired ladies!
Nope 👎

I’m so jealous - I look dead without makeup haha
@@chaselim3963 are you delusional? She wears makeup every day on the show.
Her skin is beautiful without makeup. I’m glad they had this discussion.
I love Whoopi! "I don't have two hours to fool around..." She's so confident and such a great role model!
But let’s keep it real she is no super model!! Omg 😳 I said it 😂

@@gregXxo I have zero respect for Sarah Haines now. Ever since I saw how callous she was towards 30,000 innocent Palestinians. All she cared about was the 10 hostages. For that reason I have no sympathy towards this woman.
@@cindyt8278I do. Love Sara
Everyone has their own preferences, but I think we can all agree that maintaining good hygiene is non-negotiable.
I don't wear makeup either, and honestly haven't ever been into it. I love the natural look. I always hear from my friends that I have nice skin, so I can go without makeup, but regardless, it's my personal preference. I'm with Whoopi, either you like it or you don't. 🙂
I hate wearing make up and I actually look better when I’m done wearing it. But now that I’m interviewing for jobs I’m expected to wear make up. I will never forget my first job when I got out of college and worked at a resort in Palm Beach Florida my boss told me to leave the front desk and put make up on. S
@@HH-gv8mx Wow! That doesn’t make any sense. You should be able to decide on your own and it shouldn’t be held against you. To me, it really borders on discrimination, and I’m so sorry you had to deal with that.
I work in People Services (HR) as a Senior Recruiter, and that is a “no-no”. We can’t judge or not hire anyone based on their appearance. It should be about your skillset because how you look isn’t going to get the job done. When I confirm my interviews, I just say dress appropriately. I say that because that looks different for everyone. We need to go back to just viewing the person and what’s inside. You can be pretty on the outside and ugly on the inside. SMH! It’s ridiculous!
I don’t even know how to apply makeup and don’t own any. I wear MAC clear lipglass and have a few tubes of lipstick that I don’t wear, but if my job ever told me to wear makeup, I would look at them like they were crazy. I did have a female manager say to me once, you are so pretty why don’t you wear makeup? My response was, well if I’m so pretty, why do I need it? She never mentioned it again.
If you don’t like makeup, I say don’t wear it. There isn’t anything wrong with wearing it, but it’s a persons personal preference and not their job.
There is of course, a double standard. ‘Presenting Your Best Self’ doesn’t need to be extreme.
Love seeing Joy’s natural BIG hair look.
r u insane? look up pics of joy in the 80's. shes not a red head. during covid she was wrapped in scarves😊& shades while recovering from plastic surgery. Sunny had boob& nose jobs. What do u think natural means?

Tv is one thing….a professional VP shouldn’t be judged
Yes they should!!! You cant be all sloppy! You dress to impress
Professional VPs SHOULD be judged... because it is position of leadership and appearances matter
Welcome to life
I'm a guy, I once let my hair grow down to my shoulders. At work I was told I had to cut my hair or roll it back in a ponytail. My co-worker was told to remove his earrings too. There are double-standards everywhere.
It’s how it is! Men need to dress professional also at certain jobs. I have to be clean shaven and hair groomed. It’s how it is
I actually look better without make up on.
We would not be scared, Joy!! Natural is the best
I'm happy with the curly hair Sunny don't worry about the haters.
Why would anyone hate on men or women with curly hair? People sometimes don’t like 4c hair like Sherri Shepherd and most blk celebrities. Nobody is ever hating on men or women with curly hair! That’s ridiculous and non existent
I remember being in high school in 1966 when straight long hair was thething to have.my good friend had curly hair and used to iron it to get it to straighten which made it fall out. She ended up wearing wigs half the time to school!! Not so anymore ..she’s a beautiful 74 year old now with the best head of curly silver hair.❤
I actually had an experience like this in college. I was working for a beauty supply store and I showed up to work one day without makeup. I was instantly told to grab some makeup off the shelf and go to the back and put some on and that I could not return to the floor until I did. The old Asian lady that ran it of course and true old lady fashion did say LOL "this is beauty store you no look beautiful" at the time it was a mixture of funny and infuriating but looking back and thinking about this conversation as well it's true. Especially since I have been a trainer for 14 years in some industries it is very important that you look the part of the industry and that you work. You don't want to go to Sephora and see people with no makeup and you similarly wouldn't want to see a trainer who is obese. So on the one hand while it is a horrible double standard I can see both sides of it
ATT; Ladies!! Must you be reminded, that thee Donald Trump and his Machiavellian homies took away your abortion rights? Yes, that's right you can't do what you want with your bodies, even if your raped! Hello? That's crazy!!
Well duh! You are working and a beauty supply store!! If you are bagging groceries who cares what you are wearing
Girl! You are working at a beauty store.
thats like a hairdresser with sloppy hair. Or a suit salesman wearing jammies
2:15 Sunny your hair is GORGEOUS!! Don't change it, imo!
Sunny is a racist, and her family history is loaded with racism
I would really appreciate if they had discussed more here about how potentially Whoppi’s status in fame etc is affording her to be respected and well received enough to be able to appear on television as a woman without glam. They barely scratched the surface of this really important conversation. Would any of the other women at the table even be there if they didn’t have glam? They all (except for Whoppi) giggled and joked about how they’d “scare” people if they didn’t have it. To me seems like that’s the problem there- the way we all have internalized accepted and bent our lives around our appearance in public as women just to be able to be included “at the table”
Exactly! The woman interviewing for the vice president position was most likely criticized because the company she interviewed for has an appearance to uphold that includes media, photos, large meetings, etc. it is possible that she doesn’t have the seniority, recognizability, etc to be able to present without makeup. She may have looked washed out and not put together. A lot of those bigger positions are public facing and require media training and appearance. Also, I doubt any of the other women at the table besides Whoopi would be there without a signature look
You made a really good point. Because I actually look a lot better without make up on. I have a very natural beautiful look and when I put makeup on, it looks kinky and funny on my face. But I’m expected to wear it now that I’m job interviewing. I hate it.
@@HH-gv8mx Are you expected to wear it or is that an assumption you are making? Just wondering, because I've always been really natural too (I'm fair skinned/Scandinavian roots, so I feel like a clown with makeup). I have always just done mascara and tinted lip balm and never felt judged in a workplace or during interviews.
Authentic would be showing up as we are. Being make-up free gives one freedom. Make-up is fun, but if you need it as a crutch...or a requirement to be accepted, maybe we could look into why that is.
My guess is a sense of control. I'm the big man with the bucks. Do what I say, look how I say or you won't get paid. It's that mentality which is why I'm an entrepreneur and work for myself. Take me as I am or leave me alone and people need to wake up and realize that.
@@kendallbedford2523I have an idea. Ban all make ups, ban all heels, short skirts, long skirts, blouses, gowns, sleveeless shirts, etc for women. All women should wear uniforms like men. Button down shirts, leather shoes, long loose pants, ties & that's it. There is a double standard at work, I agree. Women can wear practically everything they want men cannot, they have to wear uniforms. Time to end the double standard, I agree. Women always complain about everything. They want to enter the job market but they don't want to wear uniforms like all men do. Then they will tell you are being sexist for telling women what to wear. But when we play by their game and we let them wear what they want, we only request them to be presentable. But they still call us sexist. It's ridiculous. If you have too many boundaries then maybe you should do your own business & make your own rules or stay in the kitchen.
As someone who did hiring for ages my first priority was job skills. Second, are you presentable? If you're dressed to go to Disney that doesn't generally fly in an office however jeans (with no holes) a decent shirt with groomed hair and we're good. if it's good enough for men to not have their face beat for the Gods then a woman doesn't need it either.
I have an idea. Want to eliminate double standard? Ban all make ups, ban all heels, short skirts, long skirts, blouses, gowns, sleveeless shirts, etc for women. All women should wear uniforms like men. Button down shirts, leather shoes, long loose pants, ties & that's it. There is a double standard at work, I agree. Women can wear practically everything they want men cannot, they have to wear uniforms. Time to end the double standard, I agree
I used to wear complete makeup, even to buy groceries. Now that I am 67, I focus on skincare and rarely wear makeup. When I wear makeup, I feel like I"'m painting the fence. And don't get me started about pantihose.
I hear you sister!
Appearance matters whether you want to admit it or not. Men are judged just as hard on their looks for high tier jobs, suit cut, fitness level, hair cut, clean teeth, nails upkept people are always judged on appearance.
Just double Standard at work? There's double standards in the World!!
Joy looked Hot with that hair as a Clerk 😃😃
She looked very school teacherish, which she was. 😂
I used to wait tables and I saw a significant increase in tips on the days i wore make-up.

Ummmm....no. i was born this way 😂😂😂
I loved Joy's natural look hair from back in the day, & I love Sunnys wavely curly hair too!! ! ❤❤
I got fired from a hotel once because of my hair. I’ve also been told that my hair had to be straightened in order to get Gigs smh
This is ridiculous. In my humble opinion people have gone overboard with makeup, primer, contouring, stencil eyebrows, false eyelashes everyday, setting spray. People are walking out the door like everyday they’re about to walk onto a red carpet but really they’re just going to work at Hertz Car Rentals or whatever. Still, that really is beside the point. This should not be a determining factor for whether or not one gets a job.
It's absolutely wrong to ask a Black woman, or man to straighten their hair.
Or a white woman with curly hair

I only use mascara and tinted lip balm. I have to stop it at 0:48 simply because REGARDLESS OF GENDER, you must dress for the job you want. "Dress for success". First is job skills, second is personality, third is how you present yourself. You need a checkmark ✅ on all three of those things to get hired.
Again, this has no bearing on gender.
Makeup should not be part of dressing for the job you want though -- that can be accomplished through a tidy appearance (ie bathing and brushing your hair) and appropriate attire. The fact that women feel so pressured to mask their natural features is appalling. I only wear mascara, simply because I'm very fair and blonde and so you can't see my lashes otherwise. I look great with a bare face and no one is going to convince me that putting clown makeup on is doing anyone a favor.
Sunny has been slaying all season. Never look better.
Sunny and Joy, I LOVE your hair!
I have been makeup free for the last 15 years and very, very light makeup (maybe a bit of blush and tinted lip balm prior to that. I’m in my 60’s now and regularly get mistaken for 10+ years younger. I believe it’s because I didn’t put all that stuff full of chemicals on my face. My daughter is in 30’s and has maybe worn make a dozen times in lifetime. I also fully embrace my grey curly hair and get more compliments on it now than in my lifetime. I have never been confronted negatively for my choices. At least to my face! 😂 point being - embrace your natural beauty women and if you feel you want a bit of extra color- go for it. It really no one else’s concern.
In high school I didn't get a job at a grocery store because of my braids then went back to the store and saw a white guy with dreads working there I was like WTF. I was a 3.9 GPA student athlete at the time for context.
Sadly appearance is always going to influence people. I don’t see that changing. And people can hire whomever they want and if someone’s looks are important to them, there isn’t anything you can do ti change their minds
Of course, thats one of the new racist tropes by certain people is to try and criticize black people for their natural hair!! Just another slick way to discriminate!!!!!
Natural is always better.
The women was YT! Sunny’s hair is YT or Latina curls! What are you talking about
@javiruiz8365 I'm speaking about a specific thing that's been going on in society that last couple years in regards to white people complaining about the natural hair styles of black folks! Unless your black I wouldn't expect you to know about it. But the real question is why are you commenting on something you clearly no nothing about?
I would only be interested if my job provided subsidies for hair and makeup products, as well as compensated for makeup prep time.

Marketing is selling. Men usually needs to be physically fit and a bit attractive. Suit and tie. No beard. It’s not unequal treatment
But we dont care. Take a shower, keep hygiene, no holes in jeans decent shirt. Its a marketing ploy
these people love men who wear make up& women who dont. I think that says it all
Joy said the truth! Whoopi is out of touch!
Didn't the lady say that she was asked by a woman about her appearance?
Internalized misogyny
It’s kind of a thing in many regards for men and women. I just left a job that had a business casual dress code, where the supervisor and a co-worker offered me hand-me-down’s because my business casual attire after I got the job wasn’t up to their supposed standards. Even though I wore button downs or polo’s with khakis. They said they were “blessing” me when they made these offers.
Most on air folks wear make up. It does enhance in most cases.

I love Sunny’s hair!
My makeup is tattooed on, if I want to add I can, but I don’t have to! I had my eyes tattooed years ago and it still looks like I have eyeliner on!
Does makeup make some ladies more attractive?? Yes but what if you feel more comfortable without it. A good character is all we need on the job .

That’s true- makeup isn’t really needed in the medical profession, I was taken less seriously when I had it on - so now I just use concealer so I don’t look dead
Whoopi has beautiful, glowing skin!!
Hygiene and grooming is more important than make up. I love to wear make up and have always worn it but, I don’t think it’s necessary in the corporate world.
Each employee represents the company so some companies feel they should be able to tell employees how to look
In a business environment, visual is your first introduction. It's not what you think. It's the way it is.
Anglo Saxon white beauty standards. Black men and women know this all to well
Too bad we didn't get another Sherri Shepard/Julie Chen wig/extension reveal hahaha
A lot of discrimination against curly hair/afro hair.
Everyone loves the curly hair!!! What people don’t like is 4c kinky Afro! Look at Sherri shepherd always making fun of her 4c hair. Sunny has the YT or Latina curly hair that many women want!
Sorry Sara 🙏
As a guy, you have to make sure you are shaved and trimmed. Also locks are viewed as "unprofessional" for some reason
the reason is internalized racism. there is nothing unprofessional about locks. but there is a lot that's unprofessional about white people.
Exactly!!! It’s kinda the same! I had a YT coworker with long hair and was asked to cut his hair! Locks do look unprofessional depending on the job and maintenance
I guess it depends on your industry. I've worked in higher education, non-profit, and a zoological facility. No one has ever cared about things like whether a guy is shaved or if a woman is wearing makeup.
With each day, I become more disappointed in humanity. My situation happens to be my age, I've got "the look" covered 🙄 but I'm "old". (52) Unlike the majority of men that apply for positions they are under qualified for, I only apply for positions that I meet over 90% of the criteria. From c-suite to teetering on homelessness due to age. Look at "you know who"... if you are a white male, appearance doesn't matter. I'm a bitter betty when it comes to this topic. I've been forced into self-employment and only sleeping every other night to try to keep a roof over my head. I am sickened for this woman, and women in general... and women of color get the shortest end of the stick. I'm glad this went viral.. it's going to be a long battle, sigh.
I do view the photograph of Joy's younger self in this video as a passable, great, style.
What we, the general public, feels is OK and what the powers that be that are the bonifide rulers of the 'Job Market' see is OK is two different things.
Love how Whoopi said I don’t have to be here meaning she got other projects other jobs that she can do 😅 plus she ultra high net worth

Joy Behar bringing up Donald Trump in segments like this shows that she seems so obsessed with him like seriously 💯
Trump Derangement Syndrome in its most severe stage.
No we laught to keep from crying. Learn how to read the room
I think Joy mentions Trump because his mentality is taking over the country.A woman without make up would be unconscionable to him.
It's because he's an example of bad makeup. The subject is makeup or not. Politics wasn't mentioned.
They talk about him EVERYDAY.
I'm not sure it's a double-standard. Studies show that for both men and women, sometimes the person deemed attractive has a leg up in a job search. It could also be things like make-up, hair style, style of suit, type of shave or facial hair, especially a front-facing role or one where you might have to go out an represent the company. This is probably a special case because it's about make-up specifically. I'm not sure how often this happens at the average job. One other thing I will say is, a lot of these jobs turn down people who would perfectly fit the role for really no good reason
When talking about make up, the same could be said for jewellery and hair styling. The woman in the video said she got a blow out but didn't wear any makeup. Alternatively she could have worn a little make up (concealer, mascara and lipstick) and put her hair in a ponytail. Did she wear jewellery of none? The point is, dress for the role you want, that includes grooming. Once you have the job then you can phase out hair, make up, and or jewellery. Make no effort? That sends a bad sign.
Isn't that illegal to make a comment on the part of the interviewer?
I don’t know what professional place of work would require anyone wearing makeup to work unless you’re a sex worker or wannabe actress. I do agree with Sonny that hair, particularly black hair that is a problem in work settings. Racism
I think that makeup should definetly be a choice not a requirement. However on one note i will say this. Society has a perception of what a man or women should look like. Our society not just USA but the world 🌎 is sexist. We have certain expectations of the other sex from appeareance to behaviour. Makeup originally was supposed to compliment a womens beauty NOT transform her into another person. And i aslo think that its old fashion thinking that women in the buisness sector should wear makeup. I think millenials and Gen Z would be more accepting. Some women are allergic to makeup people dont talk about that and just assume they dont want to "look good" its very offensive and insensitive to assume they are just "sloppy" and dont care.
Actually, Whoopi we r used to, she has improved in her way of dressing coming to work. I can say a face is easier to look at when it looks like you have put a bit of effort. She says she has no time, a little bit of powder and some color on her none existent eyebrows, doesn’t take no time.
as to you Whoopster, your hair and style rocks....................................................
Whoopi I like your natural beauty....... some women don't need make up..... It depends on the type of job because if you put too much makeup on that's not good but a little lipstick natural foundation and blush can go a long way
We in America drive on looks, period! If that was the case, his conversation wouldn’t be happening.
I think it's a shame they spend two hours in makeup - I'd much rather see them looking more natural like Whoopi
No way! They’d frighten me without makeup. Whoopi dresses like an old dish cloth.
Whoopi still has makeup on!!! She has the makeup that men wear on TV! Everyone on tv is wearing makeup due to the cameras and lighting
I am a very attractive woman, and I actually look better without make up on.
Oh miss whippy you're the best.
Whoopie looks great. This topic is spot on. Yes, you don't need to wear makeup to be taken seriously. That comment was seriously patriarchal and an HR woman said that. WOW.
You want to talk about different standards at work. Why don't you talk about the fact that women can wear 100 different outfits but men have to wear suits in scorching hot weather with neckties. No one seems to care about that.
And we have to shave every single day!!! It’s horrible for the skin
The funniest part of Sonny's comments is that she thinks we believe that's her natural hair. That hair is glued to her head. Everyone knows it. lol.
It’s not only in the workforce. Women do it to themselves. When my hair is blown out, the compliments are all day long. When naturally wavy, … “you should get your hair done more often”. All comments by women. Retired women. We cannot always blame the men.
That just comes with the territory of interviewing for jobs. You have to present yourself in the best way possible. Do I wear a suit every day? Of course not, but thats the attire needed in that culture and what is demanded when you interview. Vice-versa if a man went into a corporate interview wearing makeup and eyeliner they are hurting their chances of getting a job. Interviewing is a sucky part of life, but you have to play their game and then once you get the role you can show more of your personality.
Sunny I love your hair, and don't think the styles look too "young"😂. Forget the haters
Sad to see this is a men against women conversation instead of a conversation about how both can change for the better. In my office women are allowed to wear skirts and sleeveless tops during the summer but for men it's a no go because management finds hairy legs or arms not representable. It works both ways and we can all improve.
The person that told that lady to dress appropriately was a women !
there was a kinda social experience made in Brasil many years ago to warn about racism and prejudice in job selection
black people with impeccable work experience were to send their resumes ( some with and some without pictures) to some companies
Unnecessary to say that the ones WITHOUT pictures got called quickly but once the employers saw the employees were black , a profusion of excuses were given not to hire them
Did your president have any kids that lived?
Betty regrets it now!
Joy is a gorgeous lady... then and now! 😍
Whoopi you go girl… I’m many decades old and I have not worn makeup about 3 decades. I feel some people need it more (for whatever reason). As for me except me for who I am or you go about your business.
Makeup worked for JFK in the Presidential Debate against Nixon.
So do what must. If you want the job look your best.
Actually the double standard is the other way. I work at a place where business attire is required. Men are required to wear a tie and jacket with dress pants and dress shoes. The women get a lot more leeway. They wear sandals in the summer and typically wear a blouse and pants that never look that dressy. Sometimes they. One in with their hair pulled back looking like they just got out of bed.
Wow joy lasted a couple of seconds without bringing up trump
