  • Multan's Hindu Legacy & Secrets of The Partition | Deepak Srinivasan & Dr.Mrittunjoy Guha Majumdar Satya Samvad Ep.1
In the first dialogue under the Satya Samvad initiative by Dr. Mrittunjoy Guha Majumdar, he discusses about the nuances of Pakistani Hindus in Punjab, before and after 1947, the roles of Nehruvian Congress and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh during Partition, the realities of Gilgit Baltistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
Satya or truth is the bulwark of the Bharatiya civilizational ethos. To look closely at truth is to look at its assertion, its negation, its nuances and even its paradoxes.
Satya Samvad is a platform for exploring the truth in various points of civilizational and humanitarian interest, both ontological as well as epistemological. Our aim is to look at the nuances and even paradoxes of truth, even as we work towards a sustainable and Dharmic tomorrow.
The partition of India and Pakistan stands as a monumental paradox in the annals of history, encapsulating layers of ontological and epistemological truths, yet mired in unresolved tensions and consequences. Ostensibly, the partition sought to resolve religious and cultural schisms, aiming to establish sovereign states reflective of different premises - one an Islamic Republic while the other being a secular state. However, beneath this veneer of nationhood lay deep-seated fractures in communal identities and historical grievances. The partition, ostensibly a solution, revealed itself as a profound paradox: an exercise intended to foster stability and peace, but which unleashed unprecedented violence and displacement. The very act of demarcating borders along religious lines underscored the limits of human understanding and the frailty of political solutions in addressing complex social realities. Moreover, the partition's aftermath has yielded a tapestry of narratives, each imbued with its own truth-of migration, loss, and identity upheaval. These truths, often conflicting and contested, underscore the ontological complexity of historical events and the subjective nature of memory and interpretation. The India-Pakistan partition thus remains a poignant reminder of the inherent contradictions within political exercises, and the enduring quest for reconciliation amidst the tumult of human experience.

Dr Mazumdar is a very intelligent, knowledgeable, and brave scholar, and was ably supported by Sri Deepak Srinivasan. The topic is one on which very little was known, till the analysis presented today. The partition of Bengal has somewhat been at least politically redeemed through the formation of Bangladesh, but the severance of West Punhab ftom Bharat (in the gruesome manner described in thus conversation) remains a non healing sore, probably worsening over time. It's only revelations from platfotms such as Satya Samvad that will first make us aware, and then lead us to recovery. My respects to both. Chalapati Rao

    Just a thought.
The interviewer should speak less .........and allow the interviewee have more time..
Even though the interviewer does know the answers, he should ask the questions in such a way so as to make the answers come from the mouth of the interviewee.

    SATYA-SAMVAD is an appropriate name.

Namaskar, thank you for your view. Satya Samvad is an initiative by myself under the aegis of Infinity Foundation. This was not quite an interview but an interaction, and therefore the significant points by myself. Thanks. 🙂🙏

Indeed, the interactive element of the episode is what kept me engaged throughout, with an expectation of something complementary and additive from each turnover. If at all, you might change ends next time, to give us a different experience of the interaction.

Sindhava lavanam is the original salt used in Indian cuisine and used to come from a mountain in Sindh. Also, it's potassium chloride instead of Sodium chloride, which is better for human health,BP, water retention etc.

Discussing about history is no use, India met huge loss due to partition. No proper population exchange. As Ambedkar wishes, hindus in Pakistan still persecuted. So our government take back hindus from pak, and equal number of Muslims should sent Pakistan,

Moderator needs to add pauses and emphasis on certain syllables. Helps to avoid talking in a fast monotone. Very long compound sentences/paragraphs tend to put audience into a trance or sleep. At the very least the point of the long sentence gets lost on the audience.
Please keep it "Short and Sweet".
Compare above two paragraphs to see the difference. 🤔😁
