his location is the issue just like most starters and closers when they have terrible games a 86 mph pitch down the middle of the zone is tball in the mlb and if he's gonna throw it the location has to change i noticed that especially with clay but even i think GC 3rd pitch of the game got hit and it was 96 dead center of the zone GC was in a different position than clay but you can tell how big of a deal it ends up being

@clemersmonroe5183 Anyone who doesn't crumble under pressure and can miss some bats. Maybe someone in the minors, someone already in the pen, or a trade target. Any long-time Yankees fan knows Holmes doesn't look the part. We have seen dominant closers in New York. Does Holmes look dominant to you? Do you trust him to get a four out save in game seven with a man on second? He is a contact pitcher. Not good.
Horrible managing. This team has too many holes. Boone keeps sugarcoating to a nauseating degree. Incompetent manager.
The problem is Boone refuses to tell us the TRUTH, even when we all can see it.... Also, you can tell Boone puts NO EFFORT into player/team DISCIPLINE, or holding the players ACCOUNTABLE (Gleyber Torres comes to mind here.). He's too busy MAKING EXCUSES for them when they fail.... I've been saying it for YEARS, Boone has a LOSER'S MENTALITY.

No closer, a catcher who can't throw out any base stealer, a bullpen that has gone from one of the games best to absolutely unwatchable, a lineup without Judge and Soto that features a bunch of old slow garbage that can't put the baton the ball, and they consider themselves a world series championship team.

They had the triple A picher Povich on the ropes 3 times and eked out only one run in the first inning off him. Torres, Lemahieu, Verdugo and Stanton struck out or hit into DPs to kill the innings where they could have put the game out of reach. I will give Stanton his due for driving in 4 runs but his earlier at-bats where he again struck out in critical situations cannot be ignored. Again it's not all on Stanton, Torres has be abysmal all season and simply cant get it going offensively. Same with Lemahieu. And of course the poor defense by Trevino and the ineffectiveness of the bullpen cost them the game.

i agree with the pitch count for Cole coming off injury got some rehab starts you want to work him back easy in the rotation as he rounds back into form. tough loss we got to be better in extras i think we have a losing record in extras hopefully we win the series tomorrow.

Still wish Joe G was the manager. Boone always find ways to dance around the questions. Joe was always straight up with his answers and has experience as a player and manager. Boone is 0-6 so far without winning the big prize.
I learned to defend the strike zone down in the count 0-2 in extra innings with runners on base and 2 outs in little league if someone wants to mention that to Joke Jones

Boone has the greatest list of excuses of any mgr in the game. If Cole wasnt ready to pitch 5 innings he shouldnt be in there. He is your ace for crying out loud. Holmes has sucked his last 3 outings and yes that should be a huge concern. Trevino is having trouble and teams know that and will exploit it. 13 stolen bases in 2 games IS a problem. Boone will never being a championship to NY. It's just not happening. A guy off the streets who has no baseball managing skills could do the same job he's doing. There is no accountability whatsoever on this team. Boone said this was a hell if a game. No, no it was not a hell of a game. Trevino was totally inept behind the plate and Holmes choked yet again. Forget about the post season with this type of managing and playing. The O's are laughing at the Yankees right now as are the Dodgers.

Losses in extra innings are a result of poor strategic managing and poor execution. Yanks are the perfect example of both.
