While pleasure is part of a healthy life, devoting your life to the pursuit of pleasure will wear out your ability to enjoy things. Happiness is a deeper satisfaction with life that comes from personal spiritual growth. Happiness comes from having a sense of purpose and living that purpose. I enjoy spending time with my friends or going to the beach or having a good meal, but I wouldn't live a happy life if all I did was indulge my desire for pleasure.
Many people in this world are convinced that we are 'like gods'. In this case, we could easily carry 'our truth' with us. The Bible says in Gen 1:27 that the man was created in the image of God - doesn't that mean, that we are like God? Well, I think maybe to some extent…but that doesn't necessarily mean that 'our truth' is not corrupted. The serpent told Eve on Gen 3:5 that they would be 'as gods, knowing good and evil', if they ate from the tree in the middle of the garden. Guess what: The serpent misled Eve - Adam and Eve got to know good and evil (just like God), but that's far away from being really 'like God': Did they also get the power to create the world as God did? Did they also gain the ability to breathe the breath of life into the dust and create a living soul from it? And most importantly: Does knowing good and evil mean knowing THE truth? I find it somehow like telling that a pencil is 'like a diamond', just because they are both carbon-based… Thank you for your comment, it got me thinking to reply you this piece of opinion!

Narcissism disguised as self love and individual expression lead to a world of selfish and distant people. Problems happening all over the world, but we've been conditioned to lack compassion and to only seek personal gain. Even something as simple as the family unit can't be held together because everyone cares more for themselves than for those they should call family. You don't even have to be a religious person to see this. It's one thing to value your life, it's another to be self serving.
The entire message of Christianity is servitude. If you are noticing this about our world, you should consider reading the Bible (I read the NKJV Orthodox study Bible; great stuff in there).
I also don't like how people say "love yourself" or tell you to just accept yourself for who you are. I used to fall for this but with God I have found truth
I think there's a difference between "love yourself" and "accept yourself". I used to loathe myself until I accepted Jesus into my life. Now I can love myself because I know He created me and loves me. But "accept yourself" or "be proud of who you are" isn't right because it prevents growth. It's much easier to say, "that's just the way I am" than try to change.
The Bible says to love your neighbor as yourself, for no one ever hated their own body but cares for it. This tells us it is good to love others and ourselves. God loves us, and we can learn to love ourselves too. I agree that accepting yourself for who you are can lead to problems due to an unwillingness to change, but loving yourself involves letting God remove the sinful parts.

But once we look Up to Jesus, and we love Him, we started to see things differently that our love for Him become the love for us.
When you really think about it, to follow God is to follow the best part of your heart. To be true to yourself is to deny the lies the world builds on top of you and listen to the soul God gave you. To believe in Jesus is to believe yourself to be fallible, to be able to forgive your own weakness and ask for God's strength. To live His truth is to live the truth that God placed in you and that only you and Him know, instead of listening to what anyone else (yes, even pastors or priests or religion teachers!) tell you you should be. To know God is to be truly happy, as there is no real happiness without Him. You may suffer, you may be cast aside, you may die, even, but if God is with you then you will be happy through all of it, and that's why nothing else truly matters. Stop creating opposition where opposition does not exist, and stop making people who are trying to find meaning and fulfillment in life out to be enemies of God's truth. The only enemy here is your own lack of basic human empathy, understanding and compassion.

Yeah, I just want to share how this is shown in genesis. God wanted Adam and Eve to eat the tree of Life, but eventually they took the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Therefore, Good and evil does not imply Life, which is what God desires for us to take. There were only two trees, the tree of life and the other that God didn’t want them to take. There are a lot of good people yet do not believe God. We believers instead have this Life, and spontaneously we become good. But it is not us who’s good, but Christ, the eternal life who lives in us. Hope you get what I mean.

I'm honestly really tired of religious media that refuses to engage with the Scripture it's quoting. What does it mean to believe in Jesus rather than in yourself? It means to accept that there is so much out of your control, to trust that God has a greater plan than yours, and to find peace in your own smallness. What does it mean that Jesus is the Truth? It means that His teachings are the ones that should guide us in our lives; love thy neighbour, do not point out the splinter in your brother's eye before noticing the wooden beam in your own, etc. What does it mean to choose God over worldly happiness? It means that the things this capitalist system promises will make us happy -- wealth, success, recognition -- are hollow and empty, and inevitably fall apart in the face of the true joy that is found in love, kindness, selflessness, compassion, and purpose, in devoting your life to your fellow man in Jesus' image and giving your life to something greater than yourself. With no context or nuance, these kinds of videos inevitably become a way of punishing people who try to find meaning and fulfillment in their everyday lives, by assuring them instead that the only way to live life "right" is to mindlessly memorize Scripture without questioning or interpreting what it could mean for each of us.

I am really glad you are posting this video since you are spreeding the word of Jesus that is THE TRUTH, I did a small experiment of asking my close one about if they really have read the bible literally, not just going to someone that interpretated for them, which everyone said this: "yes but only lines" or "I never knew the bible said that", which lead me to think that these 5 things are so common and it is so sad, I don´t remember exactly where I heard it but someone quote a part of the bible talking about being aware of "new types of religions" and "how they will going to lead us stray from the path" but what that person mentioned was something I recently realized and was that he thought that this "new phylosophy of ME, MYSELF, AND I (I know I am also quoting a song) was as well a new religion, and he named it the "religion of oneself" which was obviously bad since that person thought it also lead us to the wrong path, I would like to know about your thoughts, I personally think he is right and we should focus on god more than ourselves....since we are blind.

I am going to say with confidence that I don't believe you k ow God. I recommend you try to get to know him. A human is not physically capable of 'being' love. God is full of love, and when you ask him into your life, you will gain love as well

I can see where your coming from, but also with things like believing in yourself, Jesus does not condemn having good self esteem. Same with being true to yourself. There is nothing wrong with being the person you are instead of putting on a mask. Obviously there might be some flaws and sins that need to be purged, but I'd like to see a verse where Jesus tells us to be who we are not at a determent to ourselves.

I see your point, and the verse: “if he is for us, who is against us?” Reminds me of my low self-esteem and how I care so much about what others think. Until I’m reminded that only he died for me, why should I care what other people who’ve never met me, or who I’ve never met think? I also don't like how people say "love yourself" or tell you to just accept yourself for who you are. I used to fall for this but with God I have found truth
I think there's a difference between "love yourself" and "accept yourself". I used to loathe myself until I accepted Jesus into my life. Now I can love myself because I know He created me and loves me. But "accept yourself" or "be proud of who you are" isn't right because it prevents growth. It's much easier to say, "that's just the way I am" than try to change.
The Bible says to love your neighbor as yourself, for no one ever hated their own body but cares for it. This tells us it is good to love others and ourselves. God loves us, and we can learn to love ourselves too. I agree that accepting yourself for who you are can lead to problems due to an unwillingness to change, but loving yourself involves letting God remove the sinful parts.
So we _shouldn't_ love ourselves? What is the alternative? Is love, in this context, a good thing?

We sometimes doubt ourselves and falling into insecurities because we think we didn't suits the world. But once we look Up to Jesus, and we love Him, we started to see things differently that our love for Him become the love for us.
The best way to love yourself is to become the best version of yourself. If you don’t love yourself you will stay where you are and not become better.
When you really think about it, to follow God is to follow the best part of your heart. To be true to yourself is to deny the lies the world builds on top of you and listen to the soul God gave you. To believe in Jesus is to believe yourself to be fallible, to be able to forgive your own weakness and ask for God's strength. To live His truth is to live the truth that God placed in you and that only you and Him know, instead of listening to what anyone else (yes, even pastors or priests or religion teachers!) tell you you should be. To know God is to be truly happy, as there is no real happiness without Him. You may suffer, you may be cast aside, you may die, even, but if God is with you then you will be happy through all of it, and that's why nothing else truly matters.
Stop creating opposition where opposition does not exist, and stop making people who are trying to find meaning and fulfillment in life out to be enemies of God's truth. The only enemy here is your own lack of basic human empathy, understanding and compassion.

Yeah, I just want to share how this is shown in genesis. God wanted Adam and Eve to eat the tree of Life, but eventually they took the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Therefore, Good and evil does not imply Life, which is what God desires for us to take. There were only two trees, the tree of life and the other that God didn’t want them to take. There are a lot of good people yet do not believe God. We believers instead have this Life, and spontaneously we become good. I'm honestly really tired of religious media that refuses to engage with the Scripture it's quoting.
What does it mean to believe in Jesus rather than in yourself? It means to accept that there is so much out of your control, to trust that God has a greater plan than yours, and to find peace in your own smallness. What does it mean that Jesus is the Truth? It means that His teachings are the ones that should guide us in our lives; love thy neighbour, do not point out the splinter in your brother's eye before noticing the wooden beam in your own, etc. What does it mean to choose God over worldly happiness? It means that the things this capitalist system promises will make us happy -- wealth, success, recognition -- are hollow and empty, and inevitably fall apart in the face of the true joy that is found in love, kindness, selflessness, compassion, and purpose, in devoting your life to your fellow man in Jesus' image and giving your life to something greater than yourself. With no context or nuance, these kinds of videos inevitably become a way of punishing people who try to find meaning and fulfillment in their everyday lives, by assuring them instead that the only way to live life "right" is to mindlessly memorize Scripture without questioning or interpreting what it could mean for each of us.

I can see where your coming from, but also with things like believing in yourself, Jesus does not condemn having good self esteem. Same with being true to yourself. There is nothing wrong with being the person you are instead of putting on a mask. Obviously there might be some flaws and sins that need to be purged, but I'd like to see a verse where Jesus tells us to be who we are not at a determent to ourselves.

Reminds me of my low self-esteem and how I care so much about what others think. Always be honest with yourself so you can turn to God for help.
