Frustrating that you purchased top-of-the-line windows and have a failure due to soft metal parts. The number of cycles even over 20 years assuming 4cycles per week x 52 weeks x 20 years = 4160. Planned for failure past average home turnover. Just wondering can you heat treat pot metal to achieve hardness?
Heat treat die cast (pot metal)? Not to my knowledge. It needs to be made of better material (steel or stainless) which would probably need CNC machining, which they aren't going to do that. Delrin or UHMWPE wear plates or bushing washers would solve some of these problems but the pot metal is too soft and is a bad idea.
