Congrats Quinnipiac. Well deserved for a great year. Gophers are gonna have to play well to win it all. I think they can do it but never underestimate Quinnipiac.
Seems like Michigan was out-prepared and out-coached. Michigan has so many highly skilled players, but their systems were sloppy compared to Quinnipiac
Everyone said these were lucky goals. I think they did there scouting on Portilo. He’s way to aggressive so they used that to there advantage. He lost this game for michigan tbh in my opinion.
He did lose it for Michigan, but not due to his aggressiveness, but his lack thereof. Standing their like a statue with your back turned to the puck doesnt seem like a good defensive strategy.
Portillo let in a couple weak goals but made a lot of good saves as well. I didn’t see Qpac giving up any breakaways or 2 on 1s. Even if Portillo had saved the bad ones it most likely would have ended the same way. Qpac had a shit ton of breakaways and 2 on 1s. Michigan just played shit defense all night they were gonna lose eventually
I don’t have stats to reference exact numbers, but I guarantee Quinnipiac had way more offensive zone time than Michigan. Changing the goalie fixes nothing until they address their defense. I cannot believe the amount of odd-man rushes and breakaways Michigan allowed. If you want to live in fantasy land and believe Michigan wins this game 3-1 if Portillo is not in net be my guest, but the lack of defense and the incredible Quinnipiac offense would still be there. Plus, if you watch Quinnipiac’s postgame press conference you can tell from the coach’s comments just how much they prepared for this game, so I’d fully expect Quinnipiac to change their game plan if Michigan had a different starting goaltender. Just like their football team back on New Year’s Eve, Michigan was out-prepared and outcoached. Once Michigan gets past their cockiness and actually starts preparing for these “lesser” teams maybe they can win some national championships. Until that happens I’ll keep enjoying their choking in important games.
@John Galt having 12 freshmen going up against experienced, older teams plays a factor too.. you could tell Michigan was way more loose with the puck vs Quinnipiac, little lapses in discipline make all the difference.. also a side note, the one game elimination format is absolutely ridiculous for hockey
Portillo is very athletic and has great potential. He really needs to clean up his technique when the puck goes below the goal line. Disappointing that Michigan’s coaches haven’t been able to help, because positional technique has been Portillo’s weakness for years biw
Portillo looks like he gets up and back into position in slow motion every time he goes down lol
He was def exposed this game....Ouch
😂
absolutely unreal atmosphere so far love being there in person cant wait for Saturday
Michigans goalie looked awkward and uncomfortable the entire game
He made good saves during of the first but rebound recovery is a huge weakness
I loved the announcers energy.
What a title game this should be - wow!
Bobcats - Gophers will be PROPER COMBAT on Saturday 😈🐾
Congrats Quinnipiac. Well deserved for a great year.
Gophers are gonna have to play well to win it all. I think they can do it but never underestimate Quinnipiac.
Q is mostly foreign and a professional foreign team at that. So much for "collegiate"...........
I’m a huge Quinnipiac fan so glad they won! Go bobcats
Respect to yall. Dont waist this season now. Go win the dang thing
I'm from Mass and never been into college sports. I now live in Cheshire. About a 15 minute drive from Quinnipiac. So go them!
Should have included at least a couple of the great (clean) big hits in the game, just as deserving of highlighting as goals
Seems like Michigan was out-prepared and out-coached. Michigan has so many highly skilled players, but their systems were sloppy compared to Quinnipiac
Go Blue!!! Congrats Quinnipiac. Just too loose on D. Good season.
1:24 goal looks exactly like the move Darren McCarty pulled on Philly in the Cup Finals.
SKY U MAHHHHHH!
Portillo is bad lol
Luckily the Sabres woke up and shipped him out! Welcome to the Sabres Levi!!!
He really is. I’m amazed he’s playing d1

Banking, and "throw it at the net" shots are lucky....but that's the game.
He did lose it for Michigan, but not due to his aggressiveness, but his lack thereof. Standing their like a statue with your back turned to the puck doesnt seem like a good defensive strategy.
I think QP was the better team.
@@johngalt6838 he wasn’t even on his post for the first one didn’t even make an effort to get over😂

Congrats Quinnipiac! Thank you for beating the Wolverines. I’ll be rooting for you on Saturday
Congratulations Quinnipac. Saturday’s game will be fun. Go Gophers
It’s not even Michigans fault they are playing 25 year olds and they are all only 17-20
Let’s go Bobcats!
Let’s go 👏🏼
Another semi-final choke. Portillo has another bad game in the semi's. Cmon Blue, let go!
Not saying I could do any better but as a hockey fan, the Michigan goalie let in some weakkk ones wow.
When the puck is behind the net, you can't be out and give them a target of your back or other area to bounce one in. He has a real weakness there.
Michigans Goalie Certainly Had Some Good Saves But Overall His Play And Reflexives Were Flat.
Go Blue still
Q banked in 2 from behind the net. How is that not blind luck? Plus M hit 3 goal posts and 2 cross bars. Still Q was the better team.
They are......you kind of throw it at the net and hope it goes in.
I wouldn’t really call the first one blind luck that was a intentional bank shot
And it was good
Portillo was just floundering. Sad. Michigan was the better team.
Michigan was the better team? Were we watching the same game?
@@AJ13688 3 shitty goals. If Portillo was any other goalie it would have been 3-1

6:33 clear slash on the breakaway. How do they not call that??
No
@@FutProMessihits him in the wrist, that’s a call
@@rollerhockeylifestyle it wasn’t very clear and it didn’t do anything to affect the active play
Why would you name your son Skylar?
👏 let’s go
Not going to get "quirky" goals against the Gophers... 4-2 Gophers....
lol
Too many chances and odd man rushes given up by U of M. Sloppy defense. Q deserved to win.
Go Q
Portillo sold. Looks like he gives up mid play half the time, wont go anywhere doing that bs.
Michigan is a goalie away from a NC.. 3 out of 4 goals he gave up were baaad
We can't seem to get it done......same thing every year. Load up with great players, make the frozen four, and get eliminated.
@John Galt having 12 freshmen going up against experienced, older teams plays a factor too.. you could tell Michigan was way more loose with the puck vs Quinnipiac, little lapses in discipline make all the difference.. also a side note, the one game elimination format is absolutely ridiculous for hockey
@@aaha100 Agreed....but you have to win at least one of those years....c'mon. Can't finish in football, basketball, baseball, or hockey.
@@toddjohnson271we were able to finish in football this season :)

Nooooo😭
Fuckin sad…. Another frozen four loss for Michigan. Back to back losses in the playoffs for our football and hockey teams. SMH
We did it in baseball too......super strong but we can't finish.
LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BOBCATS!
Well at least Michigan got the consolation prize of a big 10 championship. Probably shouldn't have talked so much shit
Michigan does excel at that
Should have been penn state vs quinnipiac
Nah....UM beat Penn State
fantelli rip youre nhl carreer is dead! after he is trade exchange immediatly
A bobcat cannot beat a wolverine. Fake news.
I don’t really watch college hockey ever. Is Quinnipiac known to be good at hockey? Never heard of em.
Yes, they’ve never won an NCAA Championship, but they’ve consistently made the NCAA tournament in recent years and were finalists in 2013 and 2016.
Too bad every hockey stadium chooses to use those annoying fog horns. God, they suck. Dampers the roar of the crowd, completely!
I'm from Michigan, maybe the the big blue needs to hire more diversity poeple . So glad they lost,
Warde Manuel does need to be fired, and so does J. Howard, but its due to ineptness on the job.
