Best Roland lesson out there for Fantom X. You got it down pat!! Easy to understand instructions and excellent camera angle. This lesson is so help. I bought a.Fantom FX 88 in 2019 to learn piano. Now that ive learned myself A LOT, I want to start producing on my FX88. Thanks Buddy 😊

Im still lost trying to record a bassline and then layer the tracks. Theres not much info on this [that I can find]
Ive learnt myself quite a few Piano pieces such as Moonlight Sonata 3rd Mvt [ This took me at least 2,000+ HOURS] I was obsessed with it: Also, Mozarts Turkish March and Chopins Nocturnes and a few others.

I liked what you said about playing the jazz guitar part..... I have taught this to my students that it's vital to mimic the actual instrument and not play it like a piano or organ! Great playing by the way- keep it up!
You keep saying "simple as that". But one would have to be as talented as you are for it to be "that simple". Great demo. I also own a Fantom. I'm amazed everyday at what my baby can do.

I've just recently gotten a Fantom X8 and I've had alot of trouble multi-track recording. The manual's really no help because I can't understand it but watching your video has helped plenty.

Hey Ezra, really loved the Fantom X8 tutorial, you have a real laid back delivery which helped to make the Fantom seem much more accessible, I tend to use my DAW with a bunch of soft synths and the Fantom is mainly just a controller (what a waste right).

Thank you so much for this tutorial! I've had my Fantom X8 for 2 years also and I still didn't know how to record much less layer and mix sounds. I would do the hard way by writting down the notes on paper and such. Thanks again, and God bless you too! =)

Very nicely done! I own a Fantom X6 as well and your way of programming is exactly how I do mine. Pity the Rhodes was drowned by the orchestra?/brass sound, but just LUV the groove!

Charles your guess is good as mine! lol..now gain is volume...mixer is the area where you 'mix' your music as to separate musical tracks..ex: mids, highs, volume low or high per track, left and right panning.etc

Great stuff, I hope to someday in the near future own this unit...I bought my first Roland synthesizer over 15 years ago and will be a fan for life, wont even bother to check out the competition.
I also like the V-Piano a lot, but it's too pricey for me right now.

Fantastic! Wonder if you could do a real simple video showing how to lay down that first piano riff that you came up with. I am a beginning piano student but I would love to figure out how to make up stuff like that!

Sure, 'save/load button on top, 'save song and samples' 'title ur song' push 'write' and that's it my friend.________________ retrieve song? push 'song edit' push button under 'song list' scroll down to wanted song 'load' 'Exec'-that's it also'

Your really great on the keys! That keyboard has some really amazing sounding instrumentals, but its quite expensive. Approximately how many instruments are in the sound bank, and are there upgrades or soundpacks you can add?

do you have to have a card in the piano to be able to record or should there be enough memory already? or an expansion pack
QUESTION: I have the fantom x8 and i was wondering what extension (.SVQ or .SMF) did you save it as in order to tranfer your tracks done inside the Fantom into another sequencer like Protools?

good video, i'm 14 and have a wk-3500 lots of yamaha's microkorg i can see this is alot diffrent. BETTER
theatre's use me for backing tracks! and i have played live at theatre's in the music pit and i have Logic studio 8 so obvoiusly i dont have £1000 or more! to buy something like this, do you think sumone like me could pick this up ?

Help! Pls tell me what I'm doing wrong. When I try to record a second instrument in another track - say piano was first recorded in track one and I want to add guitar on a another track - the piano on track one 1 plays as the sound of the new instrument (violin in this case) no matter what I choose. In other words, everytime I add a new track, the previous one also plays as the second instrument... frustrating because I can't layer different instruments and it just sopunds like mush. Thanks!

hello ezra i have a roland fantom x7 and everything seems the same as the x8, but as you were recording, I was following allong with waht you were doing, but as I was adding the other patch sounds as you were, I noticed that the previous patches were not recording with the new patches... did I miss something?
Yes but I have never done it..it has to do with the sampling side. Anything from the outside can be recorded as a wav file on any of those Fantom keyboards.
He said "simple" , if i could play like this guy anything would be simple.
I was really hoping you'd show how to set up to record too. The manual has always been too complicated & no one has written Fantom X8 For Dummies yet.
Got a question,
how do i save the song on the keyboard? I recorded but when i turned it back on, everything i recorded was gone T-T I've read the manual but it doesn't really explain how to save a song on the keyboard without it getting erased. Do I have to buy a memory card? If you can answer, it would be of great help to me.
Help me as well, everytime I try to record the demo track plays, how do I erase or bypass the demo track? Thanks guys

Boy you make it look soooo simple. Until last week I use(d) staff paper to write all my compositions, and a typewriter to do my lyrics. Seriously. I did buy a Yamaha PSR293 so I could learn to use an electronic keyboard last year, but now I am COMPLETELY LOST. I thought I would buy a music software program for my laptop, but I can't figure that out either. So now I just purchased a Fantom X8, and would LOVE to do what you do...but what the hell is a bit map, or gain or mixer? Terminology,please?

Yo tengo este Roland X6 y es muy util. Roland siempre se ha caracterizado por instrumentos de vanguardia y no tanto para emular sonidos de instrumentos acusticos como Yamaha.
Puedes ver por ejemplo DEPECHE MODE (que son un icono de la musica con teclados) siempre han tenido en sus filas teclados como roland JUPITER 8, Moog's, obviamente EMU-Emulator, Emu, Emax, AKAI, pero Yamaha solo usaron el DX7....Y desde que salió Alan y cambio su musica es que han comenzado a meter algo d Yamaha..

@MrRichardATrice You have to delete the preset song every time you turn the keyboard on. it explains in the manual.
Oh and btw!,for some resoan I try to record a sound and every time I press the rec button,the demo song apears to play,something I do it wrong perhaps?,or something I missing?,some help PLEEZZZ!

I still have that keyboard but it's broke up against my wall. I haven't played it for years because I have not the money to get it fixed so I really forgot how all of that is done. lol I do know you have to save your song on a disk then pop it in your computer. I remember trying to learn the USB way of transferring music to the computer but ended up erasing my whole Christmas music CD I recorded on that keyboard. So you know was hurt! The CD is on CDBaby but if I wanted to add to it, I blew that. lol
So talented man. I heard Scott Storch has this software. It's really good, but i can't afford it haha. 5/5
Actually I don't know the differences, of course the number of keys and in case of the X8 balanced keys, but you should find exact discriptions on the onlinemusikstores. I tink in case of updates an extrasound there is no great difference, maybe in the samplerom and the banks fpr SRX-expansionboards.

Why can't I record 2 tracks with 2 separate keyboard sounds? When i try to add the second sound, a bass for example, the 1st track changes to the same bass sound... Help anyone

+Jade Pascual No I still haven't found out why! someone said there is diff modes that will NOT let you record multiple sounds. But, from what im experiencing doesn't matter if im in PATCH, MIXER, or LAYER mode it always switches to the most recent instrument! You would think MIXER mode would be able to record multiple instruments & sounds being that its MIXING mode & it already has multiple sounds PRESET into it! IDK?? Maybe its something in the "settings" somewhere that you have to TURN ON or OFF?? IF you find anything out let me know!!!

Can anyone tell me how to use the Pattern feature in the song edit mode, recording looping a song is easy but i haven't figured out how to get a pattern done, so that i can change parts during sampling.
