  • pH Crash is a phenomena where the support for your system's pH fails, and the pH drops to very, very acid pH overnight. That sudden pH drop kills most or all of your fish in a very short period of time. Why does that happen? Are you safe from that? Maybe and there's a simple test to tell. What does pH crash look like? Has it already happened to you? How do you prevent it? How do you FIX it? And more. After this, you truly WILL be authoritative on pH and pH crash.

Other than the occasional beeping in the background, this was the most informative video I've watched on the subject. Well done, thank you.

when I paid so much attention on what he is explaining and never realize until the end of the video that the person in the screen is just a 3d animated professor. Great info.

    Very informative content.
Been struggling with ph crash and everyone saying it's old tank syndrome but nitrate nitrite and ammonia are fine. Put crushed coral into my filter after watching you're video and its rising again steadily. Thankyou will be subscribing to you're channel.

This is a life saver, my ammonia has shot up to 4ppm and is not coming down naturally, turns out my pH has crashed. Luckily the ammonia is binded at low pH so isn't killing my fish but I need to be careful to fix this

Thanks for the video, I have a 3/4 acre koi and bream mud pond which is rain filled. Is a constant PH of 5.7 okay for the koi or would you chase the PH to get it higher? I've seen the pond get as low as 1/8 acre as well as fill over 2' in one day from heavy rains. I've had to large koi in the pond for 2 years and added about 50 koi 2 months ago from 4"-12" long as well as 50 fry koi about a month ago, all seem to be doing good and I have them all in cages until they reach 14" when I'll let them out of the cages.

I like your content. And thank you for sharing your knowledge. Your 3D self is quite distracting though. :)

We have a deep, very alkaline, limestone well. I can't boil a pot of water without a film of calcium on it. I guess that's good as far as PH crashing but the fish would probably be happier in 7.5.

Hi so this just happened to me in 2 tanks simultaneously. I do have a question but a little background: One is a shoebox that had fry in it. Its not cycled and gets water changed daily, but all of a sudden the remaining large fry wiped out. Then in a 10 gallon tank thats been running over a year. It was a grow out tank but now permanent home to 8 honey guaramis until a new larger tank is set up. This tank has no substrate and uses a sponge filter primarily. It does have a breeder box that i DIYd into a semi hang on back with substrate, media, sponges etc but is a very slow flow. Anyway with that background, whats the most efficient long term solution to keep it at 7 or just under? I used seachem alkaline buffer to raise it up, but do i need to do this every water change or is there a better way?

I have to buy hard water at the fish store, and put discus buffer in . Only a little. Then good to go. Gets me a 6.8ish every time

@@deshondetoro1638 i added dragon stone to a tank amd that shot up hardness in no time and stays steady. Start small and add though if u go this route csave u from constantly buying water

Great info, thank you for providing it.
However, I've never seen a moving avatar on a UA-cam vid before. He's very distracting. Why not include a small window of you talking?
