    That was beautiful! I remember back in the 60s and 70s my dad owned a Piper Aztec whe I was a teen and what great vacations witb the family we had from NY down to the islands. This wonderful video took me back to those days.
    Would have been nice in an Eclipse too!😊👍

    For those of you who are thinking about flying over Cuba, you have to purchase an overflight permit. The easiest way to do that is through Caribbean flying adventures.

    I've had a few people ask me why I didn't land on the centerline of the runway. A friend warned me that the center of the runway had a bunch of bad asphalt and debris, so I landed on the left side of the runway to avoided it but once I was on the ground I saw they had sealed it and wasn't an issue. The runway is quite bumpy, but the asphalt is in good condition. I'd much rather land from the East due to the terrain. There are no instrument approaches into this airport, and no weather reporting. The local authorities are working hard to expand the airport so they can accept major commercial flights. We were the only airplane at that airport the whole day. The day we left, there were 2 other airplanes picking up/dropping off passengers. A Cessna 208 and a Beech Baron.

      That’s the beauty of this kind of runway. Not too much traffic and you’re able to access it in the Eclipse.

      You didn't taxy on the pilot guide lines, either. :)
      I did that once - empty ramp, so I took a short cut off the guide lines, and ended up with a nail in my tyre. There's a better chance that the taxy lines are clear of debris. :)

    Great video. Thank you. One question though. My biggest complaint about the Eclipse is that ugly yellow circle over the static ports. Yours are white. Looks fantastic. Did you do that? It makes the airplane look so much better not having two mustard stains on its nose. Thanks!!

    • @n5es
      @n5es  4 роки тому +1

      The Icephobic Coating or patch that you see on a few of the Eclipse aircraft nose has been eliminated by an STC. Yes, the STC makes the aircraft look much better.

    Hi Ron. I’m just starting to look at an Eclipse and a Citation Mustang. Any recommendations for the Eclipse would be appreciated. No one I know has any info on them. Ps. Nice landing over the trees!!

    • @n5es
      @n5es  4 роки тому +2

      You can get a Mustang for a pretty good deal these days. It really comes down to one question. Are you buying an airplane for the people in the back or the pilots in the front. If you plan to fly it yourself and want comfort, the Eclipse is by far the best choice. The Mustang is more comfortable in the back. The operating cost will be between 50-100% more for the Mustang. The range and speed is higher in the Eclipse. Having the g1000 EFIS that the Mustang has is usually much easier to transition to since most pilots are used to flying behind a Garmin panel. The ISS EFIS is also very good though. Learning the ISS or AVIO panel is the hardest part of flying the Eclipse. It's not hard, but it's like learning a new language. Just takes some time.

      Hey Ron. Thanks for the quick response. Probably the best advice I’ve gotten!! I actually bought the Cirrus based on that same theory. I bought it for me and not necessarily for the passengers, who never show up. Lol .
      With the business growing geographically the jet is becoming more a necessity for me. I’ll take a harder look at the Eclipse. Thanks again.
      Where are you based at?

    Hi Ron, great plane, quick question, on the eclipse the inspection are time and calendar base, wish is the biggest inspection, and ESP on the engine have a minimum per year or pay by the Hr

    • @n5es
      @n5es  4 роки тому

      The biggest inspection is the 48 mo. Next is 24 mo then 12mo/300hr. The ESP program is now called the BEI program. P&W doesn’t maintain the program any longer. Aviall was contracted to do it a year or so ago then they were purchased by Boeing. The engine program is per hour.
