- An exceptional musician and a key innovator of the sacred art of tanbour, an ancient Kurdish lute, Ostad Elahi transcended the traditional repertoire of the tanbour and elevated this music to an entirely new level. His more than 100 original compositions also serve as the backdrop for his inspiring improvisations.
Here, his youngest son and musical protégé, Dr. Chahrokh Elahi, plays several pieces from Ostad Elahi's repertoire, including Saru Khani.

As a person who appreciates traditional Persian music, this music is truly magnificent. The part during the 3-5th minute of piece is especially piercing.
The precision, focus, and elegance is one of a kind! I have never seen anyone play like him and I probably never will. AMAZING. Thank you for posting this video.
Though this music stems from the sacred Kurdish lore, it becomes it these hands an Art music at the most sophisticated level.
Unlike other videos. Simply excellent in it's portrayal of this ancient art form. Great marks for the performance as well as the way it has been portrayed by the filmmaker. At the 3 minute mark the performer brings on an astonishing performance that lasts none stop for 3 minutes. I love the entire piece but these 3 minutes are both at the same time the core and the stratosphere of it's body giving a precision edge to the meditative state of mind through music. I would love to see more.
What a mesmerizing music...!
