Man… I’ve been so confused on the pants first lite offers and this is the best video I’ve seen on explaining and answering the questions I’ve had. Thank you!

Good review. I modified the old suspenders much like the new, redisgned ones. I may have sent Firsy Light a few comments or done a review, same for offering a variety of inseam lengths--and glad to see, or at least think the company listened. Now I just have to decide which ones, and I can only imagine I may end up the same way: with both.
I do like the pants with the side zipper all of the way down to vent or get on & off boots easy, but the company does have a pant with that feature someplace in its lineup. These were meant to be more simple & lighter weight.

Great video. The filming and editing and information was great. Might be an odd question but Im looking for a pant that is mosquito proof at least on the front of my legs. I do a tonne of canoe camping in some fairly buggy areas at times and some of the stretchy pants I've tried the mosquitoes are able to bit through. I always used to use Fjallraven pants but i think they have changed their cut and I find them to tight on my legs now and am looking for a replacement. Would either of these pants fit the bill. Great video again and thanks for posting.

Thanks for watching. If one is skeeter proof it would be the Corrugate Guide Pant, the Obsidian won't keep them out.

Thank you for the detailed review - by far the best video I've seen on these so far. I've subscribed and I'll be checking out more of your videos. But with all the research I've done I still can't decide between the Corrugate and the Obsidians. I see value in both. If I can bug you for your opinion, which would you recommend for someone who spends 90% of the time treestand bowhunting in Maryland? We have lots of briars in our wooded public land. No matter what I'm wearing I try my best to not plow through, I'm pretty careful with it. I like the durability of the Corrugate and the knee pads, but the also like the quietness of Obsidians. I've been very interested in switching to wool.

Thanks for the kind words. If I were you I'd go with the Corrugates. A tad more durable and warmer.

Thank you for the review and video! Would you say the Corrugate Foundry is usable for September Archery season in Colorado? Mainly quiet enough? You said the Obsidian are far more quiet, however I need something a bit more durable and water resistant being in Colorado during September. Being able to vent them and having the zip off long johns I don't think I'll ever have an issue with heat. I just need to know if the Corrugate Foundry are quiet enough to get by in Archery before I order. Thanks brother!

I know I'm late to the party here, but I was wondering if I could get an update on the corrugate foundry? Seems like this is going to best the best option for my build. Before I pull the trigger on a $200 pair of britches, I thought maybe you could provide an update to durability. Thanks

@@christeferyork209 Both are durable. I archery elk hunt in Colorado and I honestly mostly use the Obsidian. I've worn the corrugate for one day and preferred the comfort of the obsidian more just cause it was lighter. If you're looking for warmth I'd say an under layer. Always kept one in my bag for those early mornings and those night walks back to camp. Hope this helps, good luck out there!

What size are the pants in this video? I'm looking at getting the Obsidians and size chart says XL, however, I'm afraid of the legs tapering too much and I want the ability to layer and possibly throw on some knee pads of my own. Thoughts?

    • @toddhelms5241
      @toddhelms5241 3 роки тому

Those pants are 38. The legs don't taper too much and will work fine with an external set of knee pads.

I'm torn between the classic obsidian and corrigate foundry... I want reliable pants, I like knee pads, but I need quiet pants for stalking whitetail and elk during archery season.

    • @ryanjackson8542

I personally wouldn’t even consider the original obsidian pants. Yes they are very lite and super quiet but they won’t hold up to much abuse. My corrugate foundry’s have been abused and haven’t skipped a beat. They have also quieted down with a couple washes and some use. I would have zero hesitation using them to spot and stalk.

I just wear the merino pants as all synthetic ones are bad for your health due to dwr and synthetic materials. Just layer up and they blow in wind. My elk hunt last September in wyoming was fine. By the time its cold your in your bivvy.

Did the solve the crotch blow out issue of the old Obsidians. I’ve blow through two pairs now. I get about 1.5 years out of them before they fall apart. Love the material and all the features, but durability was not there for the price.

Same. I’ve sent back two pair of the obsidians. Ended up going with the corrugate foundry. Hoping to put them to use for CO spring turkey and possibly elk archery. Might be too much for September weather.

Damn, they are so loud! You can hear him rubbing the material through the whole video. Ive used the Catalyst Soft Shell and like it more than the new line, even though they rip easily (mine lasted 4 years before i was almost flashing all the game in the mountain)

Both those pants look great. I ground hunt a lot for whitetail 🦌 and turkeys 🦃 here in West Virginia, and my knees hurt since I sit on my knees a lot during archery 🏹 season and even crawl at times. I need a tough pant that provides comfort while I am crouched behind a bush, plus I go through some briars and snags to get where a deer 🦌 may live.
I also am going to get into the saddle hunting game and padded knees would help on a tree 🌳🌲
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on these two pants 👖 Todd.

I have had mine since March and wore them for all of turkey seasons from Tennessee to Michigan and had them in some of the Nastiest briars I have ever seen and they took the abuse with no issue. Hopefully that helps. Honestly my favorite hunting pants I have ever owned.

Great video. Was super excited to receive the foundry corrugate pants in the mail. Went off their sizing and they say to order the same size as your blue jeans. I wear a 36 in jeans and even some volcom chino pants. Ordered a 38 since it says no stretch and also to layer. Got them in yesterday. The 38’s I can’t even button up. I was super bummed. All my pants are 36 but come on not even the 38’s would button on me let alone I can’t later. So gotta send them back and go for 40’s. Crap. Hopefully they’ll fit and also leave enough room to layer. So maybe I got the one pant that wasn’t sized correctly. Who knows
