I lived with my daughter and her husband and two grandkids and this show is exactly what I went through for five years. My grandson spent more time with me than his dad and my granddaughter was stuck up but also listened to me. My son in law would freak out when my daughter and I watched this show. He was Jerry. Lol

Love this scene, and the character of the lighthouse keeper in general. His entire shtick is projecting onto Morty. He asked for his honest opinion, and got pissy when Morty gave him constructive critysism. In Morty's place of having to endure someone elses dull screenplay and then being told to get out once you'd sat through its entirity, I'd have pushed him down the stairs too.

This was the first episode of Rick and Morty I'd ever seen and I got to be honest the dark humor sucked me in right away. when Morty yells at that guy after he pushed him down the stairs and killed him I still laugh

The "Now Purgenol Free" on the candy bar is indicative that Morty's violent tendencies weren't a byproduct of a drug but himself and himself only, which means that he isn’t as "innocent" "pure" or "morally intact" as he made himself out to be. He succumbed to his primal and violent urges, making his character closer to Rick and his behavior than he would’ve liked to admit.
My family has been ready for the purge for generations. Bring it.
