  • I originally uploaded this video some years ago but it got taken down by the Tube Copyright Police . Considering the offending races were WR's it seemed sad and also daft,as those races are still available to watch elsewhere . Hey ho...after sitting on my hard drive for an aeon I decided to have another look at it...I've removed the"offending"clips and and shoved a couple of extras on the end so as to keep the title true! As for Seb Coe,well ,just watch the video !

The greatest British athlete ever and possibly the greatest middle distance runner of all time.

The 332.19 was brilliant walker at his best he even came back at coe round the bend ,at Zurich with the brilliant commentary by ron Pickering. World record pace with walker, scott and delise . fantastic race

The middle distance middle class (😄) phenomenon that was Seb Coe. He carved a unique place in history thanks to the records he held. Also retaining an Olympic title is truly special. There will never be another Seb Coe in middle distance running.

I reckon he could’ve obliterated the 1500m WR in Zurich in 1984 had the pace making been right. My favourites are the LA 1500 & Stuttgart 800. I also enjoyed (not shown here) the Zurich 1982 comeback 800 when David Coleman says “what’s he got after just days of training?” Seb “hold my beer...” Great video. Thanks 🏃‍♂️👍👏

i have no doubt that seb coe is the greatest middle distance runner ever , he is the only runner to ever hold all middle distance world records, if it was only for 45 minutes, coe broke so many world records, he was also such an exciting runner to watch, whould he lead from gun to tape or would he tuck in and sprint the last 100m in an astoising 11.3 seconds

    • @richardmilliken5651

Can you provide me with the race that Coe sprinted the last 100m in 11.3 seconds! I always thought that his best kick in the final 100m was 12.2sec.

    World class pace is stratospheric.
Pace OFF world-class pace is super-human.
But pace off pace off already-searing pace is from another dimension, I mean: Bayi, Scott, Walker, Boit etc....
Had there been anyone on Earth capable, at the time, of going with him in Florence we'd've seen 1.40.xx and I'm with Deano on the 2.11.xx 1k.
His 1978 Euro 800m loss saw him go thru 600m in 75s and by 1981 it was also 75.00, which itself shows
incredible improvement from hard training: speed endurance AND muscle endurance.
And let's not forget that his 3.29.77 is worth 3.45.00 for the full mile.

First time I've seen that last one ,he was in great form in 1983 , but missed the world championship in all his career. 83 and ,87 with it being every 4 years back then

@@simonsedwards1513 They are 2 of his greatest races, undoubtedly. The 1000m WR was only 3 nights after the solo 3:31 1500 in Stockholm! Without that draining 1500 in his legs (52.4 @ 400, 1:49.1 @800!) Coe would have run 2:11.5 that night in Oslo, which would still make him the WR holder. This doesn't have the 1:41 800 either, but I think there has been issues with copyright for that race.

Also, he was given a wild card to enter and our federation wouldn't allow it. An example of pigheadedness depriving the country of a gold medal.
