I think that is a bit low actually. 45 hp is pretty nominal for a 250 4-stroke today. But I own a dyno, and know there really is no great calibration for most of them, so they do read differently from dyno to dyno. But, if it is a bit low looking, you can tell the operator is honest, since dyno software can be set to read higher than actual power.
I have a great promotional vid for you, with the YZ250 2-stroke. The mags today do not know how to jet a carb, and they say the stock jetting is fine. The plug is so black and wet, with oil droplets from the stinger ruining the back of your jersey, smoke all the time and a messy exhaust, and they say it is fine. Well, I lowered my cylinder for more low end power, and the higher compression cleaned up the stock jetting a bit, (also added the FMF Gnarley pipe and V-force reeds though too). But I just moved the needle clip to the top notch (one from stock in the USA.), and it is still on the rich side so i just ordered the next more lean needle from the owners manual. The test would be great, showing the world how jetting your carb well will probably gain you up to 4hp and more power everywhere in the curve. Do a good job,---and maybe the magazines will hire you before they ride the drunk bike and tell us it is sober. :) Doug in Michigan.
I have more jetting to do, main more lean I am pretty sure (will tell with wide open runs and plug checks), and maybe the pilot jet. But it also has that "power jet" that I am not sure I really want. I suspect the jetting is on the rich side across the board for that bike, but I am not sure yet. There is one size smaller "power jet" available, and with good jetting, I see it as a bit of a flood. From past experience with normal 3 jet carbs that ran very well, I really don't see the need for the "power jet".
You start the recording at 10 grand? High gear, almost idle, then full throttle with 2-3 second "on" delay after hitting top rpm,---for the entire curve. I know my riding does not start at 10,000 rpm. :) Nice dyno room you have there. I am jealous. :)
I am sure there are things you can do to shift the power around. I am a 2-stroke guy and I can do that with 2-strokes, and I think there are even more options for engine tuning for 4 stroke, maps and all that stuff. Probably don't have to change any engine parts. Maybe lowering the gearing some also. But i have heard pro mechanics in MX say they don't even change gearing anymore because they have so much tun-ability with the complicated 4-stroke engines.

Torque does not mean the low rpm power, and hp being the high rpm power. You need torque at every rpm that can turn weight. But rpm is the multiplier of hp from torque. As rpm rises, hp does rise faster than torque as torque is multiplied by rpm to calculate hp. But with no torque,--nothing turns. "(Torque X rpm)/5252 = hp.). That is the equation for hp from torque. That is also why you will see at rpm 5252, that the torque and hp lines cross each other on the graph. Maybe that is where the notion comes from that torque is under 5252 and hp is over? Not sure. But it is really not true. Raise the torque anywhere in the rpm curve, and the hp goes up at that rpm also.

Is this enough low-end torque to be considered fair tractoring ability? I'm a fairly heavy guy and wants to use it for some easy trails.
