I think you legged it out of The Three Ferrets because it looked like you might have got your camera nicked in there, quickest bar vid ever!
Good decision too, roughest pub in st ives!
Absolutely stunning part of the world, just magical.
Brilliant. What a great looking place to visit
I’ve never wanted to cross an ocean more than when I watched this video. I might look at flights.
Rum and crab shack is great and very dog friendly
St Ives the most beautiful place in the world on a sunny day -Non to shabby on a cloudy wet day either -New years eve is also fantastic….I grew up on Salford precinct and feel right at home in the 3 ferrets 😁
You are so close to The Star in Crowlas, great pub for beer lovers. Brews their own beer on the premises and resonable prices too. Also great guest ales. Then on to Penzance. The Lamp & Whistle always has some nice stuff, although some people don't get along with the landlord Miguel, I personally get along fine with him. The Dock in Penzance should have Spingo available. The Crown also in Penzance has their own local brews as well.
If you make it to Falmouth the Seven Stars do a cracking pint of Bass, Beerwolf has good brews as does The Front.
This makes me miss Cornwall. I had a lovely summer day in St.Ives this year. Beautiful. I had a nice pint in the castle... Wish I'd see the craft beer place!
Bad luck missing out on the Pilchard Press Ale House, brilliant place, keg beer on racks that they change every week. Had some great nights drinking and being introduced to playing shut the box in there. You’ll have to make an excuse for another visit 👍🏻🍺
Best time to visit Cornwall, completely out of season! More pubs than you shake a stick at.
Need to go to Johns on Fore Street (the main cobbled street), craft ale bottle and can shop (as well as rum, whisky, mead and other bits). Amazing little Aladdins Cave.
Stone the crows, welcome to my hometown Simon! shame the Pilchard was closed you would've loved it. Beer & Bird is great as well
Fascinating to have the brewing process explained. Also loved seeing the bars and pubs of St Ives, cheers Simon.
Also loved your sunset at St Ives comment as you panned the horizon and the skies were all low grey clouds!
My home town. Shame you missed the pilchard, independent cask ales.
Also ... at he first junction, 'is there anything down there, no dont think so' ... Yes there was Moomaid Icecream down there.
Last time I went to St Ives a Seagull wrestled my pasty off me. I was gutted.
Absolutely loved the video Si, Especially the brewery tour, I was a bit of a ignoramus when it came to how beer was brewed, but thanks to these videos I find it fascinating, cheers mate, up the stoned crow! 👍🍺
The Western hotel has the Kettle and Wink pub, it's located on the lower floor, accessible via the other front door you went past before the steps. It's the best place to scout out for live music most of the week.
Went to St Ives in 2021...loved Beer and Bird!!
713 years old to be precise Si!
Greatful to all the micro breweries bringing us great beer to drink. We truly live in a beer lovers time these days. Just the last 8 years have been insane when it comes to the xplosion of Breweries.
Love this! Happy weekend Real Ale Lads
Another great tour and brewery visit Simon. Thanks and may there be many Moor 😉🍻
Love a little tour video. Great when ya get recognised, happened to me couple of times out when you least expect it. Been to Cornwall few times. Lovely. But watch the narrow roads if ya driving ! Cheers.
Oh yes pub crawl ! Thank you so much ! Loved the calls of the seagulls in the background. "Sunset at St. Ives absolutely incredible" hahaha. I think many smaller breweries now don't want to venture into lagers because of the dead space they create with lagering tanks. It slows down their turnover so they make less money if they sell their fast ales anyway without spending the extra space and time. Just go to any craft brewery and you'll find a plethora of IPA, sours, pale ales etc. Because you can brew them quickly in a small space, and most people don't care what type of beer they drink as long as it's tasty. Personally I don't know why more craft brewers don't add Bavarian style wheat beers to their offerings as they're low hopped and sweet which most people like, you don't need to cool it much if at all during fermentation (I brew them at 32C here in Australia, great banana flavor), and the yeasts used tend to be vigorous and make a great beer in a short time.
Loved the vlog Simon. Cheers
9:14 . arfer and tel on the telly
Used to deliver to pizza express st Ives, knocked mirrors off of cars many a time, love st ives
Sloop in the sunshine. Doesn't get better.
We’re going st ives this summer , so this video was really great and informative. Cheers 🍻
So many pubs serving the same stuff. Damn shame. Great video though.
Exeter is due!
Hi Simon. I think it’s so hard nowadays to get a truelly authentic pub. They all look like theme pubs. Full of pool tables and juke boxes and arcade games. It’s rubbish. I had the same problem on the isle of sky in Scotland. I was expecting real authentic pubs. All of them had be ruined. Destroyed by commercialism. Wouldn’t it be great to find a pub without music. Wooden floors. A fireplace. Sawdust on the floors.
Great video I've never been to st Ives but I think I will now 😃🍻
Mate, what a place!!!!
Fantastic place is St Ives. Was there not long ago, the Brewery has a new shop in the high Street. Did you get to try many of their brews? Barnoon is fantastic, a 7% blackberry Belgian triple. The guy in the shop told me the owner picked local blackberries with the help of the local communitiy too. Seemed pretty cool idea, a million miles from Doom etc! , and was very tasty.
These videos are brilliant Simon. Really enjoy a wee visit around this beautiful part of the world. Hope you are well.
Ye Old Trip to Jerusalem is the Nottingham Pub btw Simon that you mentioned a few times in the video. It's an amazing building and tourist destination to visit if you are in Nottingham, but sadly it's now a Greedy King Pub so not a great deal of choice for the Beer side.
Simon, love this type of video. Not that much drinking though!!
Been there the week before you😂
When you turned right on the narrow stairs towards the sea..you missed St Ives Brewery Art of Brewing shop and mini taproom, just a few steps on the left…
Super impressive setup
Lovely place to visit and beer review
The Belgium beer bar looked amazing.
It's well worth a visit!
Great vid 👍
Nice one
Spent some summer holidays in The Sloop Simon 😁
Must have been a trek from Barry on the train. You should have gone by dinghy and when you landed they would have put you up free of charge in a hotel 😁😁😁
In the ferrets was my cousin behind the bar
If it wasn’t bad enough seeing Doombar everywhere else, you went to the home of it haha. Awful beer. What a shame that a beer as widely found as Doombar can’t just be a GOOD beer. Imagine going into your average pub and being pleased that Doombar (the fantasy good equivalent) was on. What a world that would be. ARE there any great beers which you can find in most pubs??
What a drongo.!
Comon Simon, nearly 25 minutes in and you hadn't had a single beer. Sort it out ! ☹️
Glad I'm still up man glad ta see ya, 2am rn on the east coast of the US, still currently a bit sauced lol
Hi. Love your videos! please have a haircut.
Should have stuck around for a pint in the Ferrets, a proper boozer.
Bruges on sea innit.
St ives pubs aren't the best for decent cask ales at all these days. A real shame you didn't get into the pilchard press its a real gem for cask craft ales, the best in town by a long way! Not much love being shown for Hayle at all, considering the 'st ives' brewery is actually in hayle!? Just a marketing thing i guess?
👀 Jupiler
Ye OldeTrip to Jerusalem in Nottingham ...built in 1189. Officially recognised as the UK's oldest surviving inn.
😁😁✊
Shame about all the Molson Coors pubs. Is there a historic reason why so many Cornish pubs stock there stuff? Is it because Sharps were taken over and most pubs served it?
Nearly as nice as Barry Town
Most disappointing out and about video as Simon wasn't drinking. I understand that most pubs were generic Doom Bar etc but a beer reviewer needs to drink beer and get a little tipsy !
