Please can you answer me?
You made it🎉 Tipp no 1 was what I needed for description. Thank you
Hi Sean I find your videos, the most consistently, reliable and valuable on the Internet good work
Thank you for sharing this Sean that was great information.
of course!
Finally a KDP video with good advice. Thank you!
Great info as always, thanks Sean
Thanks Sean. Very useful tips !!!!
Very very useful tips.. thank you so much !
Excellent advice! Thank you.
Thank you so much for sharing. You right
Great ideas thanks!
Publisher Launch Pad's Silver package is $400 for 8-10 reviews. Who can afford $40+ per review?
If you are sending people the PDF or a real copy of the book and they aren't purchasing it how are they able to leave a review? Don't they have to be verified buyers of it before they can review it?
Not sure if this answers your question but if a reviewer purchases your e-book for $0 when you offer a limited-time promotion, their review will display as a "verified purchase" even though they paid $0.
I always think paying for reviews in any form is bad practice. I'm not sure I'd do it personally.
Huang Hua's "Burn On! Without Burning Out" really helped me
Nice info brother.
Great, thank you.
Good video Sean, useful thoughts and ideas in there, but it has raised many questions for me, echoed by others in the comments below which you have not yet responded to. I think it would be good if you would provide answers to the more common questions, e.g. unverified reviews, email list creation etc. Like others, I was staggered by the high price charge for reviews on PLP. Wow, can't justify that for medium content books I'm making at a £4.99-£6.99 price point.
Really appreciate your down-and-dirty approach, Sean. Exactly what I need! I have published 9 books but knew nothing about keyword research. Do you think it would be worth it to republish them, this time using Publisher Rocket to fine-tune the titles and keywords? Or should I just move forward and publish more books with more effective titles and keywords?
Great info. Thanks for sharing. Do you have any recommendation for getting reviews on low content book? Thank you
nice stuff bro
I have 4 reviews-One is from my mom, one is from someone who is in it, and the other two are from friends. I guess nobody cares about the memoirs of an old Ranger…
It’s all about having a community/network and means of exposure
My man…. You gotta spice up your marketing a bit. Judging by your “woe is me” attitude, you probably titled your book something like “Memoirs of an old Ranger”. Of COURSE nobody wants to read that. It sounds impossibly boring.
We're here because we all have the same problem. There are literally millions of books out there. You've got 4 readers from people you know and support you? We should celebrate that, everything from here on out is bonus. We should both be trying to get the word out, but also enjoy such a magnificent accomplishment. You are an author, well done! Neither of us are self-promoters...at least, not yet 😉. Thank you for your service.
I bet that’s a fascinating read! Think about how you can entice people and get them interested with a strong hook
Lol
Problem with leaving a statement at the beginning of the book asking for said reader's review is I would be afraid that it would remind the unhappy reader that ended up not liking the book to leave a review. Such as a Horror fan that ended up reading a Fantasy book and found that it really wasn't their cup of tea. So no, I'm not sure if I would want to leave a note at the beginning of the book.
I have a reminder at the end of the book, along with an illustration that hopefully if they made it that far they will see it and will be reminded to leave a review.
Because there's an old saying, if I don't like something don't remind me about how much I dislike it.
The thing is, negative reviews can bring in sales. If an unhappy reader complains in a review that it was a genre they don’t like or a trope they don’t like, readers who do like those things will see it and be sold because that’s clearly an honest review. Don’t let the fear of negative attention prevent you from getting positive attention!
thanks so much
Pubby used to be effective until Amazon started removing reviews. And most readers who are supposed to purchase the book In order for you to get the verified purchased on your book never actually bought your book. Some never even read it.
Hi, I just started on KDP with just some word search puzzle books. How do I establish reviews for puzzle books. Also, doesn't Amazon monitor how many books have been sold? And if so, how can I give someone a copy of my book via PDF off-site from Amazon and they go and leave a review without purchase and me not getting in trouble? Or is there a way to get free coupons from Amazon to give to people to review my book?
launchpad says it is SOLD OUT!!!
Hello Sean, thanks for the video. How to get customers email to create an email list while selling on Amazon?
How would you recommend to get reviews on Amazon KDP if the buyer must have spent at least $50 in the last 12 months?
Sounds persuasive, How much per book would you allot for an AD budget?
Available review and rating
How to get the reviews, if my book is a low and medium content and only in print form? Thank you
Sean, have you used Pubby for medium-content books (workbooks, journals with about 30 pages of text in the beginning)?
Publish launch pad seems to be to not accepting orders for months now...just wondering is you have any info on this ir alternative? Thanks and keep up the great videos
I don't understand. Everything I have read says that it absolutely forbidden to give away books in return for Amazon reviews and that these reviews will be removed. Have I got this wrong?
My book is called "love that counts" I got it published and hope that other authors will read it, and enjoy it! And please leave a review!
Are other authors your target reader? Who is the book for?
@@Financiallyfreeauthor mostly for young women who are thinking on getting an abortion. But it's a story for anyone really.
If you send them a PDF of the book, will they be able to leave a review on Amazon - technically, they didn't purchase the book. I thought you needed to purchase an item in order to leave a review? Thanks.
Does a book have to be published on amazon before you can get reviews and does everyone know where to go to review the book so it shows up in the right place? I am just thinking about Pubby etc- when someone reviews the book, where do they go to do that? Thanks!
Does Amazon permit soliciting reviews in exchange for a free book?
At what point in our KDP start up journey does it make sense to pay for the silver membership on PLP for $399? Do we wait until we a have a certain number of books or sales? Or do the 8-10 reviews add up and is it a solid investment to get silver membership for each main book launch?
I have been publishing for 2 years. If you’re looking to pay for reviews - bro just skim books on Pubby. $500 for 10 reviews never makes sense. I could see $50, but 10x is ridiculous
Can we get royalties if someone order book in free promotion ?
Amazon just told me that only people who purchased the book can leave a review. So how does this free PDF work if they need to have been customers?
How does Pubby work if my book is not free? Do I give it as a gift to users or how exactly?
Hi.. How to get reviews for KDP coloring book for kids after launch?
I love that I found you! Question though... when you share a free PDF in a FB group, ask for a review and they click on the link I provide, won't those reviews not be a "verified purchase" review?
I had the same question
Hi mate! One question, what about mid content books? Is that working as well as High content? thanks!!
My question for Sean is how to know the emails of the people who buy your books. I'd love to start emailing previous buyers to let them know when I am launching new books, but I don't know who purchased the previous books. Maybe I am missing something on KDP or Amazon that shows who purchased my books.
Amazon doesnt allow you to email people who have bought your book. He is talking about a list he made of people he knows who he can ask to leave review.
The question is, does Amazon allow us sellers to persuade buyers via emails, or even write something at the end of the page? is FB safe? how will people get to my listing for free books? I'm just afraid that Amazon will close my account if ill do this thing. your reply is appreciated, thank you.
How would we get an email list in kdp
Hi Sean!
I just started publishing the 1st coloring book. I want to get some rating/review before running amazon ads but i don’t know how to do it. Can you give me some suggestions?
great video, boss in children coloring book that you shown asking review. Its any compliance issue in amazon that causes termination. please describe
Pls I am also curious about this
This is a good example😊 your first comment should be how to subscribe to this channel that's like a no-brainer I get frustrated two summits channel as I'm listening doing the dishes but I can't cuz it is super difficult. Just the tip :-) super interested in what you're doing pressing the easy button
How do you get emails of people who read your book?
Sean. Help me solve this one...KDP Select only allows me 5 days to offer my book for free. My book must be free for Pubby to work their deal. It gives me one week to accumulate enough snaps to make it worth my while. Is there a workaround or do I have to wait 90 days for my KP select contract expire before before signing up with puppy thanks, John.
Its worth it to Pay PLP membership for kick up LCB as journals, notebooks ( of course people can judge the beautiful cover) but for planners, trackers, etc it might be too expensive option right? Its wiser Jump in PLP with medium content or high content books right? what do u think Sean?
What is plp membership?
HI Sean. you are great. I just wanted to ask you for an explanation.
I should make a post on a Facebook channel to have my book read for free. But how should I make him read it? Do I send the book, do I send a digital copy via email or another way?
I thank you in advance
Do you know with pubby if you can ask for reviews for a same book but in different countries? I have had reviews in US, but I would like to have some in Canada, but when I resubmitted my book with the canadian link, they said its the same book :/
can i sell local address book that have peoples name along with their email address on kdp, is it fall under any copyright strike or any things else, or its fine
I know as an ex FBA seller getting reviews at the beginning can be a nightmare and I'm not one to pester friends and family plus amazon will come down on you fast if they detect anything fishy. I generally sold my products at a significant discount, did my ppp campaigns and once I hit say ten reviews I'd increase price. You need verified reviews. Non verified are pretty useless.
Getting reviews is sooo hard!
Hey Sean.. please answer me
I've recently published my first book on Amazon and took your advice to share a free PDF copy with people in groups on facebook to leave honest reviews on Amazon in return...
but people are keeping warning me to do that cuz if I had reviews more than sales, Amazon will ban my KDP account
is that true😢
Hello! I am interested in whether it is safe to share a PDF copy of the book through the FB groups if my book is signed up for KDP?
Warning. Asking for positive reviews is against amazon rules. Asking for honest reviews is the way. They don’t allow being angled to ONLY leave review if they liked it. This can ban whole accounts
Will having reviews without sales not flag your account in some way? I feel like Amazon would quickly see this instatnly?
If you give someone the Amazon link for them to leave a review on your book, don't they have to be a verified purchaser first? I want all my reviews to say verified purchase. Can you tell me how that would work? How can I give people a free book to review as a verified purchase, step by step?
Do you know anything about a promoter called Tina's Book Promo's?
I keep seeing this promoter around Facebook and I'm wondering if she's any good.
I am curious-Amazon will only verified publish reviews by purchased content. If you give it to people to read for free they don’t count the the review as a verifiable. Does it matter?
You can review a book without leaving any text and without buying.
For Publisher Launchpad. It says they are all sold out!
@@SeanDollwet how soon will it come back?
Are the book listings on Pubby anonymous or does everyone know the multiple author names and genres you have?
Thanks for all your marketing advice! One question--if I want to have someone review a coloring book in a facebook group, do I send them the pdf version and have them print to color themselves? Or do I send them a papercopy through mail? If the latter, how do I get? Do I have to purchase my own product from amazon kdp after it's listed?
That’s a really interesting question. You can send people paperbacks through KDP at wholesale cost and that is probably the best way for someone to review a coloring book. I would build that into your marketing budget and choose the people you ask very strategically so you can get the most from it.
Exactly what made me come to this channel
@Financiallyfreeauthor how do you send the books from kdp on wholesale rate ? Tia
Question about Pubby: If I read a book that has plot issues, a few grammar errors, and saturated in cliches… and I leave a 4-star review… Does the receiving author know it was me who left the review? Can he see my books, and post revenge reviews? (I’ve had it happen to me in the past. Rated an atrocious book with a merciful 2-star-and that author went and 1-starred a fantastic book of mine.)
I’m wondering if there is pressure to give 5-star reviews when it is not honest to do so.
Always leave a 5. But write in the comments what you'd do to improve it.
I see publisher launchpad are "sold out". They are not taking new clients? Is there an alternative please? Thanks
As of 2-28-24, Publisher Launchpad is still entirely "sold out." They are not taking new clients. I was also just "Declined" by Book Sirens. No reason given, but they say they often do not have the staff to take on new clients!
I've spent thousands and thousands of hours doing all of the stuff that you mentioned, ever since my book was released in April, so far I have only 11 reviews on one book and 17 on another. I am literally mentally exhausted. Day in and day out, I do this. Please help!!!
Do you have an update? Are you getting more reviews now?
@@2muchtoast I had to have someone help me elicit reviews. I now have 60 something on one book and about 80 on my other book.
@@2muchtoast the idea is to keep persevering
@@emoreland elicit reviews where?? Also did it help with the sales?
@@rizwan2730 This goes way beyond persevering. To be successful, you really need a huge load of money. The reason young people like Sean are able to make it is that he wasn't financially independent when he started the business, plus not as many bills. That's really the best time to start. I've invested $20,000 in this business and to date, only got $500 back. I gave up my care, liquidated my retirement accounts, and dropped down to low-income housing to try to make this work. Like really? How much do you really need to persevere? At this point, it's not about perseverance, it's about survival. Now it's become an obsession like gambling. If I hadn't already invested $20,000 and all the time, life savings, and retirement savings, I would have backed out a long time ago. I keep telling myself that it will get better and keep "persevering". Things will get better all the while I'm getting more in debt because you need to pay for ads to make this work. I've paid for top-notch writers, editors, and formatters, thinking if I "invest" more money in it, that it will pick up. My word of wisdom is, don't get involved unless you have a sh1t load of disposable income or, you're financially dependent on someone with a sh1t load of money. Then you have people charging $3,000 for these "publishing" courses making you think that you will be successful after taking the course . SMH
I was told that getting reviews during free promotion is against amazon policy, how true is this...thinking of sending my books to friends to drop honest review
Reviews from friends is strictly fobidden and if they find the connection then they can ban your account
Hi Sean, I look forward to looking at and learning from your videos. I know I need more reviews for my book, but I also would like your feedback on anything else it needs. I do not have an Instagram account. Please advise - thanks
Anyone know of a Facebook group that would concider allowing book reviews for mental health books? I've tried several and no one will allow. Thanks!
Try FB groups that have a promo thread or post once a month or once a week and tell people why your book is awesome.
On the issue of restaurant cleaning, it depends on the restaurant's policy. If the restaurant is "Self Service", customers will clean the table and bring the plates to a designated area. It's not a status symbol, entitlement, or a cultural thing.
Examples of different policies in Filipino restaurants are:
Pay as you order
Clean as you go (self-service cleaning after dining)
Self-service (from ordering to cleaning)
Fast food restaurants and the majority of restaurants, especially inside the malls have cleaning crews, so the above policies do not apply.
How do I offer my book for real reviews if it is only paperback (not eBook)? Do they have to purchase the book or can I provide a free book somehow from KDP.
You need to offer your book in digital form. Wouldn't really work for a physical book unless, like Sean said, you offer a Free promo for your book, either digital or physical. Yes, you will take a loss on revenue, but then you will gain reviews which should in turn, in theory, lead to more sales. It's a gamble, honestly. And it depends if your book is considered "high interest".
Pls I want know....about the review request at the end of the book page. I hope it wont lead to termination of book or account by Amazon....pls have you been asking for review at the end of every book?? Pls I need reply, thanks
No, it's perfectly allowed by Amazon. You can put a QR code in your book.
I noticed a lot of his advice is good, but only if you already have money to burn on marketing.
It takes money to make money :(
I’m struggling to get my high content book published. It keeps going back into draft.. any advice? It’s suuuuuper frustrating.. I can’t seem to find the problem
When it gets rejected, KDP send an email telling why it was rejected.
mine did that 3x. it was so annoying. it was because of the bleed/trim size. i swear i followed their dumb guidelines to a T. i ended up using templates from LULU and finally got approved. I swear their numbers make no sense LOL i love math and calculations. it's literally part of my job for over 15 years is creating graphic files for printing. i duno why their #'s just dont add up and worse is their online PREVIEWER approves it!!! and then u have to wait 3 days to find out it's NOT actually correct. i hope they fix that soon very disappointing from amazon.
I just found out you can't publish a coloring book/low content/printable book on amazon kindle KDP so there is no way to get it out to people for those reviews...what am I missing?
Can you tell me more... I just published a coloring book on Amazon Kindle 3 days ago and didn't have a problem
@@lisajmccarthy1 I contacted KDP and they told me that they do not allow low content books on Kindle. You might want to double check with them or they may terminate your account for uploading it. They may have changed the rules since I talked with them. I had my account terminated because an artist used a copyright illustration for one of my story books. You don't want to find yourself in my situation. If there is any doubt then take it down, its not worth the risk IMO.
You can’t publish low content ebooks, yet, but you can publish low content POD (Print On Demand) through KDP.
As a local guy, I don't think Americans have a bad reputation here, especially during the US base time. It takes two to tango. Women looking for jobs and men looking for pleasure. The thing "bad reputation" is popularized by activists.

is pubby dead?

not to rain on anyone's parade but here's few points: first, considering your book good or not is highly subjective; you might think that you wrote something great and it might look like trash to someone else's; secondly: if i recomend a movie i liked, yes, my friend might watch it, but doesnt mean my friend will BUY IT; thirdly: no one wants to be bothered by email messages just because they liked a book, so no, I wouldnt give away my email adress to a writer, and the whole social media begging is way dead by now, so apart from your mom; no one will give a shit 'bout yer work. Reviews are hard to come by and that's the sad reality.
And as you see fiction doesn't needed until it's pporn or detective - real literature doesn't solving people's problems - it's shaming, questioning, think-provoking - all stuff modern people doesn't like/want/buy today😅
🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤
Great stuff. I can't believe that you are giving all this valuable & effective information for free.
28-30 reviews for $1200? Are you out of your mind?

What about Freebooksy Sean? Do you like their promotions? I see you didn’t mention them in this video.
So write non-fiction and spend your new extra time writing fiction that you love because no one will buy it. OK
I don't think bribing people with a free product, in exchange for a review is right. I think MOST people will feel obligated to give a high review because the product was free. All this does, is make all 5 star ratings irrelevant. I don't even consider those anymore. I assume the 5 star ratings got the product for free in most cases, unless there are no 1 star ratings, or unless there are only a handful of reviews. But most of the time, 5 star ratings are not honest buyers of the product. I personally wish Amazon would not allow this kind of bribery... OR like in the past, they would require a disclaimer or something. A different color star would even be better. Red stars got it for free type thing. I am not against giving away free products, but without the obligation/request for a review.
A disclaimer is required if you get it free. I read ARCʼs frequently and do not always give a 5 star review. In fact I gave one a one star review. I truthfully said why. The author asked if I would read a new version. I agreed and it was much better. I gave it 3 stars.
The reason I give so many 5 stars is because I am picky about what I read. I don’t do romance. Unless it is combined with something else like murder, lol.
@@justtere Only people who get things for free see the disclaimers, to make them feel better, but I never see them. Although, it's possible I don't buy the items that vine people are getting for free. I don't doubt vine people's honesty, but I think it's human nature to want to feel thankful for a 'gift,' so reviewing it will be from that point of view, not the POV I am coming from. I have to give people my money to get the item. I want to see reviews from that point of view. You give 3 stars for a 'gift'. That doesn't tell me anything. I want to know what you would rate it if you had to pay money: Not as a theory, but as a fact. I could pretend I bought stuff and rate them too. That's not really a helpful review for me as a buyer though.
Pubby is the worst service! Dont use it, they almost kill my sells!
How would Pubby kill sell?
@@japanarchist fake reviews, reviewers take your book and publish themself... I had a really really bad experience. If someone want to try, just try. Me never again!
i tried pubby before hearing bad things about it............and when i saw 5 5star reviews come in i was excited. why would anyone say it's bad?? HERE'S WHY:::::i signed up for pubby to get a few reviews because i was hoping it'll help me make sales. so far I got 3 reviews and waiting for the rest to get approved but.......But...........I am already disappointed by pubby.......1. my product is for women and all reviews are from MEN. 2. they are TERRIBLE at leaving reviews that seem REAL.......wow...why are they reviewing a WOMEN COLORING BOOK!? all the books that I reviewed so far were children's books and i reviewed them as a MOM exactly the way I review all books I purchase. these people have no idea what they are doing and they are (Drum roll please) WRITERS.......
I will probably NOT be using pubby ever again.
1 they make u accept a book blindly without knowing the audience.
2 I do wish you could request a GENDER or at least someone who actually buys coloring books (maybe moms) if that makes sense.
3 It looks very SUS seeing a MICHAEL or KEITH on a woman's product. if anything this makes it look worse than no reviews in my opinion. I read reviews before buying anything and whenever i see reviews that seem fake it turns me away from the product. i think only 1 person wrote that they will give it to their daughter. which would be smart to say in a review mention who you got it for if you're a man. it's clearly NOT for you. now i see why people there leave a NOTE that says please mention this or that in the review which i didn't do, i wanted honest reviews. but the ones I got don't seem genuine and they didn't even have to read anything they just had to look at some pictures LOL. I mean how hard is it to say "beautiful illustrations." honestly that is good enough than a weird paragraph copied from the author's page which has NOTHING to do with the actual book. oh my gosh. I canceled.
moral of the story: fake reviews are worse than no reviews. they might even be worse than 1 star reviews LOL.
I think im really good at writing authentic reviews and could prob make a killing doing it if it was legal. ive gotten many offers for free stuff in exchange for authentic reviews this is because i only review things i would use or try out. and if its a product i could never use like something for a man or like men's cologne or etc. i'd say who i bought it for and how they like it so far. that seems more real than what those men wrote about my book.truly amazes me. LOL ok my rant is over.
EDIT: the other 2 reviews out of 5 finally got approved by amazon and those 2 actually sound like real reviews although one was still written by a man he still at least referred to his girlfriend really liking it. So 2/5 were "good/legit" (still all 5 stars)
I totally get what you are saying. I noticed today in my book category that someone got 10 reviews in one day. Mostly men... and the book was for women. I can't believe 2 people that gave reviews just copied the book title and pasted it as their review!! WTH?? Really!! Why are these idiots reviewing books? How hard is it to say... "Great Book."
If you can leave notes to tell them what to say that's probably the best. Then they'll just write what you want? People are probably not reading or even looking through the book at all (which is ridiculous). They just want their snaps. My book is also just for women and high content so if it's anyone random and they're not going to read it the review will definitely look bad. Maybe I shouldn't use pubby. But if I can tell them what to write, maybe that would be ok. Although a bunch a reviews saying the exact same thing? Probably not good lol
