Let me first say what a beautiful presentation of your collection!! Your chat and changes are what drew me into this beautiful hobby and I love the information you are willing to share. Started collecting in May 2023 and sadly experienced most of the topics you mentioned. I am currently awaiting the return of my baby from Canada being rooted (prayers needed) I almost told her send after the holidays so I would gladly pay extra for the peace of mind of someone more knowledgeable as to maneuver the purchase. Some protection I suppose. Anyway thanks again and Brewster is amazing as ever 😍✌❤

It doesn’t upset me at all if buyers ask for updates. That will never tick me off. Communication is so important omg, your not a pain in the but at all. You spent a lot of money on this doll etc. and have the right to ask! ❤

I've only purchased one baby and I got so lucky finding him. The artist mailed him out the day I purchased him and he came on time. One of the reasons I haven't purchased any more is because I'm afraid of all the things that can go wrong. Especially with a significant amount of money on the line. I'd love a platform like you described.

As a "new to the reborn" world, I am PETRIFIED, of scammers. There are so many out there and even though there are sights as Reborns or Everything Reborn on FB, that are mostly legit, they slip in there. There are so many testimonies of people getting scammed and most of these people, love reborns for their therapy issues. It's so sad. It's such a beautiful community. I would LOVE LOVE to have somewhere to go, to just buy a reborn without worrying.
You’re right, there’s no fail safe. But it sounds like you know how to be careful and what to look for. Payment method is then so important - if you can avoid friends and family, it eases some nerves. Won’t stop the disappointment of not getting a doll you’ve become attached to, but. It’s really crazy how much worse it has gotten in the last couple of years. Hoping nothing ever goes wrong and you just fully enjoy your new hobby 🙏🏻🥰
100% agree with your forum idea and especially as you mentioned paid forum, fair clear honest and have the ability to have open and honest feedback given from both buyer and seller . There’s too much smoke blown too much omission of things and experience’s. I’ve experienced an artists attitudes to be perplexing and marvellous even though work done was to my liking some I’d never promote or use again in a million years.I too will only use courier . I’m very black and white and up front , I’ll ask for a timeline and what to expect , and I always allow the artist to have freedom , and if things begin to fall short I’ll say so . I’ve commissioned many artists over my time in the doll world and as you say talking is key. Don’t get me wrong I’m not rude but it’s a business deal not a marriage proposal and I treat the deal with respect but with absolutely no emotion apart from being polite .
Sometimes I think I am overly cautious or tread too carefully 😁. Thankfully I have had very very few problems. I love that - so true - it’s a business dealing not a marriage proposal lol

In answer to your question.. not much disturbs my Dolly bond, I have had some really BAD postal experiences, and some amazing Artist😂 experiences, but if I lose the bond.. the baby goes out of the door, also, I will walk over hot coals barefoot for the right special baby ❤ great topic 💐💐

I shipped a highly sought after and very pricey sole kit overseas to a well known artist from whom I had purchased several dolls. She completed the doll without ever having a conversation with me about preferences. I was not pleased with the result and will not be buying from her again. Fortunately that is the only disappointing incident in my years of collecting. Loving your new display unit Renee!
Oh Judy, that’s not a good experience at all, I’m so sorry 😖. Crazy how different artists operate from one another. One bad experience, bad as it was, that’s a real upside though 😉. I consider myself lucky (and careful), too. Thank you so much!! ♥️
Oh, this is such a great topic and so vast with many things that go along with it for me! Lol! I'll try not to write a book! Hahaha! First, I would have to say preemptive communication is key for me to be comfortable in pretty much any doll buying situation. Just as you said, most issues arise out of simply not being clearly communicated and over the years most issues could have been avoided all together just by stating all expectations clearly by the artist as well as the collector at the beginning of any transaction. Unfortunately, a lot of people lack good communication skills and that's when things tend to go wrong during varied situations. I am very OCD so being left in limbo of not knowing information is the WORST for me. I would rather hear bad news than no news at all! Lol! For me some of the nightmare issues that have occurred over the years due to miscommunication has definitely affected how I bonded with the doll it was associated with and those dolls left me very quickly.......there's like an ick feeling when tied to a bad experience if that makes sense. I know, not the doll's fault but I can't help that I feel how I feel in those cases. The only thing that makes me never want to do business with someone in the future is if it's from an artist and they do not stand behind their work when purchased direct brand new from them and also if someone has scammed me in some way......both in which case have happened to me in the past. Big lessons learned and a lot of money lost with those situations and I will never ever buy from those people again, no matter how amazing and wonderful future the work from them may be. Any and all negative situations over the years have helped me be a better buyer as well as seller because I try to address all the things I possibly can up front with the attempt to help the sale be as seamless as possible for both buyer and seller. Transparency is key for me and I always aim for exactly that. It's definitely a fine line sharing any negative experience publicly......it usually never goes over well and collectors seems to get attacked in most cases. We had the feedback portion on Doll Fan forum that did exactly what you describe but we found that people still were hesitant to state anything negative for fear of fallout, but I always like this kind of idea, and it makes so much sense with so much money on the line and with no general contracts for such transactions......seems crazy that we just blindly sending thousands off for a doll time and time again. Lol! Thanks for such a great video as always! FYI~I LOVE the way you have your collection displayed! So beautiful!
Communication - OCD - transparency - yes yes yes 🤣♥️. I agree with all of this, including how nuts it is that we just send off thousands on a wing and a prayer. Amazingly, it mostly works out! 😘

Yeee costoms are terrible in prices , handling of parcels and they also damage the item and they don't admit!!!😢 it happened to me they opened my box that had Quinbee kit , Rosalee kit and Amara kit , all in separate plastic bag .I found the Rosalee kit out of plastic bag and I found her front side of her left head with permanent black marker 😢 it's soo frustrating!! Another time kodi bear s head was squashed 😢 God bless your collection is absolutely beautiful 😍 thanks for sharing dear 😊

You mentioned that you have had around 100 babies in your nursery. Obviously, since you currently only have 17 you buy them, enjoy them for awhile, and then send them on to a new home. I’m wondering if you have any “forever babies?” Babies that have come into your nursery and you don’t ever plan for them to leave? I’ve only bought two reborns, and still have those two. I’d like to buy more, but I have a hard time selling things because I’m afraid I’ll regret it later; so if 100 dolls came through my home, they would probably all stay. 😂
