Looks like a couple of fun days out! I want to go on the cable car (strictly a gondola lift rather than a cable car but that’s ultimate pedantry!) - I think it’s only this one and the dangleway in London in the uk? Also, there’s obviously a theme with Sainsbury’s and preserved railways - both the Bluebell and spa valley railways have stations in a Sainsbury’s car park!
One of my earliest memories is one of those little train "rooms" my family and I occupied on a trip from Cardiff to London unless my memory fails me - must have been over 40 years ago! (My parents are dead now, so I can't check with them.) Thanks for showing the heritage railway!
Nice to feature in the background in a few shots. I thought I’d seen you filming across Matlock bridge. It was certainly a slow day with the overheating bearing on the loco!
Matlock looks amazing & looks like a lovely place to visit for a day out & im liking the cable car & the heritage railway & the statons on this line looks like lovely stations brilliant vlog as always
So much to like in this video, cat, cable car, fish and chips, ice cream Not sure which was worse, Peak Rail pulling a TPE, or having to travel on a bus with one of those weird route numbers
I used to live in Chesterfield and I love this line and I love Matlock Bath. A little factoid is that the cable car is the one that was used in the 1986 National Garden Festival in Stoke. It was moved to the Heights of Abraham at Matlock Bath after. I went on it at Stoke but have never travelled on it at Matlock.
Brilliant video Jen, I did go on the cable car at Matlock Bath around 19 or 20 years ago and do both tours of the led mines there. I've still not visited the Peak rail yet.
I was on the Swanage railway all day and only on the last trip I found the corridor coach. Different lights from yours, heater control was on the other side but it did have the double arrow mirror.
If ever stopping over there during the autumn, the Matlock Bath illuminations are worth looking at. It's basically see a nice parade of illuminated boats on the Derwent and there are different themes on each boat.
I really liked the cuts to "Future Jen and Abi" within the overall timeline of the video to show the parts you didn't have time to do on the first trip. Nice approach since often other channels would just leave it as "We might do this in a future video"
that offside platform on Watstandwell would be fabulous with a clean up. Im sure it is hard to get volunteers to keep up with this work. Matlock Bath station is wonderful, so visual.
You're not only a few minutes away from Crich! It's not too far but the direct path is up the steepest hill that you can climb without climbing gear and oxygen!
Hi Jen, loved this video, my last Railway boss lives in Matlock...it's a place I have on my bucket list, especially on the cable cars... Take care, Jon B.
I have seen the heights of Abraham cable cars several times and ridden it once, well twice actually, up and down again. Otherwise, I would still be there! That was back in 90s, my lost decade...
I'm going to have to give peak rail the benefit of the doubt, insofar as you had a very small engine trying to handle some significant gradients, and that can be difficult
Gotta keep you watching! To be fair, the "will we make it?" was real - we were on the verge of missing it, and only saved by it being delayed by a few minutes
@@JenOnTheMove indeed - the misdirection was the 'not a bad place to spend an hour' implying that you'd in fact missed the train you actually caught - all good Jen lore, keep on keeping on! \m/
have you been to Southend Jen? if you have not you need to have a go there The Southend Cliff Railway, or Southend Cliff Lift or an inclined lift - I think it is not classified as a vernacular railway becuse there is only one car or gondola
Past perfect Jen look to the future. Poor old peak rail. It trys very hard but money is short and coal prices are high. We can't get it from Wales anymore boyo! Peter Darley Dale.
Always watch to the very end, you never know what outtakes you may find!
Sorry about delay I was the fireman on that day the crack pin was to hot sorry
@@Thebigfour1923 Thanks for replying, I hope you got it sorted in the end!
So many things to like about this video: Cable Car! Extra super-cool friends! Chips! Jack! Quirky heritage railway! Water! Time travel!

Those "train rooms" are called compartments...😂
Really enjoyed the 2nd half of the Derwent Valley Line. Do need to visit the whole line and the Heritage Railway. Great video Jen

PEAK TRANS! 😂❤🎉😂❤🎉😂❤ LOVE this video and glad to see a heritage railway giving it a go. Hopefully they get better.
You meant trains or trans? Both cool and valid ;)
Great vlog Jen. Would love to explore more of the Matlock branch than the 3 stations I’ve briefly explored.

Delay repay for steam service 😅

Your cat has you trained!
I did The Heights a few years ago. I have thing with heights & when it paused it was a bit breezy so the car was swinging a bit, got me nervous!!

If I’ve got time to go back somewhere between filming the video and editing it, I totally will! Not always possible though!
I've never really explored the Midlands despite growing up there. I'll have to add this to my bucket list!
Being from the West Midlands, I never think of Derbyshire as the midlands, in my head it's just "miscellaneous not quite north land"

Wonderful video Jen enjoyed watching.
This does look like a beautiful are for the railway, definably worth a trip there.

Ahh Peak Rail. A line I've visited twice, the last time was a decade ago. Both times the locomotives failed.
peak rail need to get some trains that dont break down, like some PACERS
One of my local lines shame i wasnt travelling would of loved to see you haha! My Uncle is a Manager specifically drivers around Derby!
It should go without saying that I am always here for teh kittehs, doubly so for darling black kittehs.

I'd love to see a steam train with my son... it's just they're never around, or I've missed them 😅

Is there such a thing as a great pun? 😀
