Great guide. I have one thing to ad and that is, that you don't have to take off the front part. If you pull the disc tray all the way out, you can see 3 plastic gears, 2 White and 1 Black driving the tray and the rubber band. On top of each gear there is at thin lock washer. Careful take these of and the gears can be takken off to gain acces to the rubberband.
I got an Issue with unreadable DVDs and CDs too. It alsways says h00m00s00 instead og showing the whole duration of the disc. Do you think I should try cleaning the laserlens?
I read a few questions posted some years back concerning unreadable CDs / DVDs with the Denon S101. I actually also faced that issue. Cleaning the lens was not enough, so I finally had to order a replacement part (including laser + lens + support). I placed my order in France at www.oxygen.fr/ for a total of 92€ including taxes.

+Søren Hansen Thanks for your feedback. Next time I will have to open it back I'll try the palstic gears removal as you suggest. Cheers.

Same here. Just tried changing the laser but the same thing happens, like it does not recognize there is a disc in there :(
