Something to note about 22lr, each brand has their own wax/lube on them, and barrel usually needs 5-10 rounds to fowl it in. you don't have to clean it, just fowl it. Supersonics have to break the sound barrier coming out of the barrel, and typically don't stabilize fast enough, like a rifle round will, but traveling twice the speeds if not triple of the 22s. Rim thickness is another area where shimming the barrel to change the headspace can make some ammo shoot better, and some to shoot worse.

Got the standard Savage 64F semi-auto and had no issues with ammo other than Norma TAC-22 where the shell casing swelled and jammed. Other Norma worked fine. Rem Golden bullets, Browning, Aguila, Federal Match all work fine. Thanks for the great video. Well worth it.

Always been a fan of CCI Mini mag for 22lr and Maxi mag for 22mag. Both work real good on a coyote. I've also used the maxi mag 22 mag on Javalina. Works really well.

For anyone who doesnt know: 22lr moves so slow that by the time you make it to 100 yards with a super sonic round it has become subsonic, the problem is that between supersonic and subsonic there is the trans sonic zone where it is transitioning and becomes very unstable. For most peoople this is no problem, even littl 32 grain stingers are not gonna lose enough speed to really be a problem, however at range you may have problems because there trans sonic zone has made them unstable, this is why 50 yards is the standard 22lr zeroing distance and why long range 22lr shooters use sub sonic bullets

For this reason, a 50 yard comparison makes more sense.

Mine loves the CCI Blazers for bulk. 100 yard bench rest on bipod, 1.316 inch 5 round groups on a warm barrel

I have a few rifles in 22LR. Each has one brand it loves the best. They are all different, but each is accurate. I do not question it, but I have spent a lot of time trying to understand it. I cannot. My 1957 Marlin Levermatic loves Federal blue box, standard velocity. The Henry nothing fancy model loves the Rem Golden Bullets. (that gun is scoped with a Vortex 2-7, the others, just the eyeball and iron sights.) The old 1947 Iver Johnson Safety Rifle bolt action single shot likes Eley Target. I generally shoot 20 or more rounds to see which bullet the gun likes. I found that if it is going to shoot each five shot group gets tighter or is opening or random. Again, feed it whatever it shoots best. I do the same with center fire also if I don't reload for it. It will be interesting to see what you get at 50yds. That is good medicine for varmints.

From what I'm reading online .22 needs to season the barrel between ammo changes. It means you have to put 10-15 rounds of ammo downrange for each different type before they settle down... But I don't see it as flushing money down the drain if you like tight groups. Your just spending a few bucks to find the golden stuff for a given rifle.

My Tikka t1x 22lr bolt action likes 2 different Eley subsonic best so far, lots of flighers with the high speed stuff!Apparently about 5 or 10 rounds should be fired to season the barrel before checking for accuracy because of the difference in bullets coatings and lubes?

Me talking to the wall. During the great mysterious ammo shortage of recent years. I ordered in some 22s from somewhere online. what showed up was some Eley. it made the right noise when I puled the trigger so I was happy. The squirrels and rabbits did not complain When some m ore recognizable brand names became available I did a comparison and found the Eley had better results.

Lol! Cicadas make the sound with their wings against the hard carapace of their exoskeleton. Couldn't do that while your holding its wings. 😉😁😂 I had to laugh at some comments when you did the poll whether to do this at 50 or 100 yards. Several people said 100 yards was too far for 22lr! Lol! You can tell who really doesn't do much actual shooting. I hope they watched this and saw you casually pump out some kickin groups. 👍👍

Funny how rifles react to different ammo. My Glenfield 75 won't shoot any kind of Federal, jams and poor accuracy. Doesn't like Wildcat, Thunderbolt, or Blazer either. CCI MiniMags are most consistent of what's available and affordable. The old Super X, with the wax coated lead bullet, shot real good, but that's long gone. I've never tried any real target ammo in it.

I’m breaking that with my new CZ457 American with Arken SH4. See if it’ll outshoot my 80 year old Springfield sing shot. Open sights, but one hole at 50 yds with Remington Yello Jackets.
