Alan Wake the character is performed by two people. His physical actor Ilkka Villi and his voice actor Matthew Porretta. I loved to see them both on the stage at TGA, with Poretta singing Alan's lines and Villi dancing in the middle. Lovely stuff!
Music is so important in those games. And there are a lot of songs in Alan Wake 2. I stayed on the loading screen between chapters just so I could hear all of it.
The guy dancing in the middle at the last part of the live performance is Sam Lake. The writer of Alan Wake and Max Payne and the creative director/leader of Remedy Entertainment - the company that made the games.
@@tanjanikola9489 One of my childhood heroes, no joke. The things he's had to overcome to finally make it in the spotlight was a long journey. Such a nice guy.

Let me put it like this: Poets of the Fall are the only band I ever bought merchandise from. Their normal songs are even better, all the Old-Gods-songs were written for video-games. Olli, the guitarist is awesome. I attended their gig in Cologne in September 2022 and prior to the gig he was running past me. I shouted at him, wishing him good luck and he stopped and came all the way back and shook my hand. I was so shocked I couldn’t say anything but “thank you” a million times. 😄 Seriously, these guys are fantastic, please check them out.
Thatg is a great story and AWESOME on Olli doing that. I love bands that are open and generous and enjoy what they do, and express it! I 100% will continue this journey!
Actually POTF was created and first introduced in Remedy's Max Payne, the original title. It was ending music that launched their knowledge iirc. Anyway POTF songs have been in Remedy's games before.
Fun fact: Poets of the Fall lead singer Marko Saaresto isn't a bassist, but when he plays the role of Odin in the Old Gods of Asgard band, he plays the role of bassist, whereas in reality he just sings!
It is impossible to get the full impression of the song without playing the game. In the game the song gradually evolves as you progress with reminding you what you have done and what to expect. This is a masterpiece in the game context!
Yeah I have had a few people explain the background a bit but I am convinced I am getting the games and will play them. Aside form that, I'm here for the band for sure and there will be more to come.
@DaneBramageROCKS Alan Wake 2 contains a bunch of great original music as well as including more music from The Old Gods of Asgard. There's a lot to be appreciated in it. You are going to have SO much fun dude and I look forward to more videos on the subject.
Old Gods of Asgard were characters in the original Alan Wake, aging members of a metal band who were instrumental in helping Alan fight the Darkness. 'Children of the Elder God' is an awesome rock song, and "The Poet and the Muse" is a folkish song that explains the first Alan Wake game as only Marko and the crew could.
"The Poet and The Muse" is my fav Old Gods of Asgard song. It's from Alan Wake 1 and it tells the backstory of a character from both of the games. Highly recommend reacting to it.
@@DaneBramageROCKS You won't be disappointed. I've played all the Alan Wake games, so the added context does add to it for me, but that song still makes it to my top 10 from Poets of the Fall/Old Gods of Asgard.
We had the goosebumps together at 09:19, I just got hooked to this song when I played AW2 last night. I slept late listening to it and one other reaction video while I placed yours under my Watch Later list so I can sleep and get to work the next morning. "Balance Slays the Demon" is the song that introduced me to the band a decade ago playing Alan Wake: American Nightmare. This video is awesome as we had similar reactions even though I already saw both videos last night.
That is awesome to hear!! I still have yet to play AW, but, I am a little opposite direction to where this song introduced my to AW. I plan play on playing sometime, hopefully sooner than not! Thank you so much.
Poets of the Fall is a band that I discovered a few years ago by accident. Within a few months I had purchased every single one of their available albums. They are that damn good.
You need to check the 23 minute version, some guy went into the game files and grabbed all the parts, put them together so you can listen to the complete song
@@DaneBramageROCKS I did not expect a reply lol, I personally have not been able to listen to the short version since I discovered the full one, it just has so many nice touches.
I recommend to check out the original one too ;) there are piece of it that are not shown in the live version. By the way old gods of Asgard are alter ego or poets of the fall in the remedyverse (because remedy game such as Alan wake / 2 , control) are on the same universe. They are not just for soundtrack, they also appear as characters.
Also I don't know if you do requests but staying on Remedy-train, I hope you could check out "Sankarin Tango" from Remedy's Control and follow that with "Yötön Yö" from Alan Wake 2. Same character sings both songs and I think it is rare to video game ost feature tango, let alone custom made one. Also The Game Awards 2019 orchestra performed a part of it with a guest singer too so that is cool imo.
You may have already been told this, but this song actually plays during a part of the game diegetically or however it's spelled, as not to spoil it to much. So that to say the stage show wasn't just made for the awards.
To sum it up, in Alan Wake there are two characters that are senile, somewhat insane old brothers named Odin and Tor, who had the band "Old Gods of Asgard" in the 70s. They are important to the plot because their old songs had clues to the story, and Alan Wake 1 you actually have to seek one of their old songs out to learn the truth. (That song being "The poet and the muse"). Since then they've made many more songs as you have seen, each being important to the lore of the games with their lyrics! It is funny as well because one main premise of Alan Wake is that his fictional horror stories start coming true around him, and now we have a "fictional" band becoming ever more popular in real life! Amazing video and I look forward to you checking out their other songs! 😁
I strongly suggest you take the plunge into POTF and hear how insane the musicianship and vocals are in this band. Start anywhere but I'll throw out a suggestion or two in songs like 'Dreaming Wide Awake' (both studio and the live unplugged Alexander Theater versions are terrific) or 'The Lie Eternal' or 'Lift'. I could go on and on. Thanks for this reaction video!
oh for sure, I just pre-ordered the Rebirth Vinyl. I'm stoked. Thanks for that, I am starting to see some repeat suggestions and I have them on my list. More to come.
Man I just got to say as a writer myself, I loved Alan Wake. It has so many layers. Many talk about how it shadows the creator, but what seems less talked about, but comes across more as for writers we get it (Sam Lake was also a literature major in college, so I'm at where he was) Alan Wake 1 deals alot with writer's block. That much is spelled out, but how frustrating that block can be and trying to find some way around it. And with Alan Wake 2 the "dark Place" also stands for drafting. Alan Wake 2 had alot of trouble being made, it took them 13 years to finally release it. During that 13 years Sam Lake and his team at Remedy wrote draft upon draft upon draft, editing and changing their script. Alan's time between 1 and 2 was much the same. And my own experince going through my Bachelor's and now grad school for my master's is the same. You revise and edit constantly in hopes that SOMETHING will get published. And often what you start with won't resemble the final product. Such a good series for MANY reasons.
Wow, yeah new found respect for this series and follow up game! The more I hear, the more excited I get to play it! Thanks so much for sharing all of that! More to come.
DEFINITELY check out "Take Control", the song the Old Gods did for the Remedy game "Control". It's my favorite song from the Old Gods of Asgard, and as you can tell from this video, there's tough competition for that top spot!
Yeah Take Control and Dark Ocean Summoning have been popular requests. I found lyrical video's on the YT page so far. I'll check those out. More to come.
Old Gods are also characters in the games. Old (really old) eccentric guys guiding Alan Wake in its journey through their music. Art is a key component of the plot.
In the Alan Wake 2 game, the song is presented as part of a sequence where as you play through the level the music and scenes you see in the music video develops and play around you. It's a really neat experience, and although Alan Wake 2 is a horror game, its setting including themes around creativity, the dark place, The Old Gods of Asgard, and general use of live action and cinematic style integrated throughout the game allows this music sequence to fit in really well to the game too. As a longtime fan of this franchise and the music in it, it was awesome to play though that first time (and continue to listen to again). It's also a treat that they released the live action parts as a music video and got to see Poets of the Fall and the AW2 cast perform it live at the Video Game Awards. There are a lot of good Old Gods of Asgard and Poets of the Fall songs in Remedy's games, especially the Alan Wake and Control games. The Poet and the Muse (AW1), Balance Slays the Demon (AWAN), Take Control (Control), and Dark Ocean Summoning (AW2) are some of my favorites in addition to Herald of Darkness (which is probably my favorite). Interestingly in Alan Wake's American Nightmare The Poets of the Fall are referenced as well, and a song credited to the Poets of the Fall called "The Happy Song" is in that game. So, both OGOoA and PotF seem to exist in Remedy's Alan Wake / Control universe.
Yeah I watched a walk through from the game footage, IT WAS AWESOME!! That actually helped me gain an even better understanding to the song and the game. Gonna have to play this one. Thanks so much for the comments and information. I am loving the results to this. More to come.
I'm very late to the discussion, but there's also a radio in AW1 that plays POTF's "War". So their, I guess confirmation(?), of existence in the same universe pre-dates "The Happy Song" in AWAN. :D
I'm so glad you enjoyed them. Old Gods of Asgard are my musical fixation. I can listen to their songs for hours on repeat. Like others said, Take Control, from Control is an absolute gem, but man.. all their stuff is great.
One really cool thing is that there were a bunch of original songs made for Alan Wake 2 and Remedy made sure that they wouldn't be copyright claimed since music is a big part of the Remedyverse since streamers had troubles with Alan Wake 1 if I recall correctly.
I love that this song and video is making more people pay attention to Alan Wake cause both games are really underrated and should be more popular than they are from how well they're made.
Yey! Finally! I have been looking forward to this... 😃 Poets of the Fall is a whole rabbit hole to dive into (and OGOA have several great songs). I definitely recommend watching a play through video of Alan Wake 2 for the part We Sing (there are plenty on YT), as it puts the whole live performance into perspective (and is insanely well done with huge technical complexity on the background). The very happy guy in the suit dancing is Sam Lake (Sami Järvi), the creative director of Remedy Entertainment. OGOA is made up of the three founding members of Poets of the Fall, which performs with six people. Olli Tukiainen is the guitarist you are referring to (my brother played with him and Marko Saaresto, the lead singer, a long time ago in a different band). Note: the voice actor for Alan Wake is Matthew Porretta, so he sings Alan's parts. Mr Door is played by David Harewood. Obviously Matthew and David are guest performers on this song only.
As for POTF, there is such a long list of songs to recommend but Alexander Theatre Sessions are incredible, Carnival of Rust is a classic (lots of reactions to it though), but with 20 years behind them, you will find different styles, but with the recognisable DNA. This will keep you busy and we are waiting for the videos!
Nice!! Now there is a passionate fan and thanks for sharing and thanks for the enthusiam. This type of energy gets me pumped to continue this journey and I am looking forward to what else I am about to discover. Thanks so much for the information and sharing that, there will be more to come!
@@DaneBramageROCKS Live in Moscow 2013 is also amazing! POTF have a big fan base in Russia, but obviously those gigs as well as Ukraine were dropped off the tour when the Russian invasion started.
One thing I couldn't stop thinking throughout the entire video is how much you look like the band's lead vocalist, Marko Sarresto. The similarity is unreal.
This is strange but AWESOME! There have been a couple of you who have said that now. Looks like I have a great doppelganger and I am here for it! I might have to dress up for the next one!
...Dane is Marko's Mr.Scratch. He has a plaid shirt! 😂 Mr.Scratch is Alan's plaid wearing doppelganger that came to the real world when Alan was trapped in the Dark Place
This is also missing the aspect that this music video is compilation of ingame "video screens". It's really worth noting that this embeds beatifully into actual gameplay. It was insanely cool experience to see actual music within gameplay that was insanely well put. Plus it really tells in lyrics and parts what really happened in previous game title. In actuality that musical scene lasted for me like plus 15mins. It is insane how well they created loops of music. I mean when you play, you'll see those moves pointing player to correct locations, you'll notice in video there are those kinda hand throws, it's also remarkable that it didn't feel so-to-say repeating at all like loops usually tend to do. So music will loop until you get further to proper locations where really surrealistically video displays pop-up and the song continues. It's really like in this "compilation" video. True chapters. I haven't ever seen such audio/video/musical/storytelling piece/gameplay scene and I wouldn't be surprised if I'll ever see one as this put the bar so high up that it'll take great efforts to go beyond it. It's also funny that the slim guy in dark suit that is dancing is I think "artistic manager" of Remedy entertainment (Sami Järvi/Sam Lake) so one of gamestudios boss is dancing there, which is also quite funny. Apparently he knows Poets of the Fall band head personally really well and POTF wanted to create this Old guards of Asgard name just for Remedy's games. Actually POTF rose to knowledge from Remedys first Max Payne game were their song was first heard in game ending iirc. I suppose this is the reason these two companies match so insanely well. Plus game has internal movies scenes of like maybe for an hour, where Järvi playes parts too.
If you do another video game music review, check out anything by Soken for Final Fantasy XIV. Two of the more rock songs would be: Shadowbringers theme Scream
In the live version, the singers to the right are the character voice actors, while the man dancing in the middle is the person who's likeness is used for the character of Alan Wake in the game. So essentially, Alan is played by two actors, one for the voice while the pther does the movements while lip syncing, so they did the same for the live performance.
Yeah I caught onto that after learning who everyone was. I thought it was awesome but aside from that, I am so glad I discovered POTF/OGOA. Cheers, more to come.
Three people are singing here, the black guy, Alan Wake's voice actor (the guy dancing is only giving an appereance to Alan Wake) and Old Gods Of Asgard singer. Btw, nice quenya tattoo :D
A reaction to both, live and official videos? It must be my lucky day! Really thanks for this and looking forward for you to go deeper in the rabbit hole that is Poets of the Fall and Old Gods of Asgard! Greetings from Argentina!
"Gosh. This video is gonna be long, and I am not sorry about that " 😂 This was a fun one! Very enjoyable to watch and the music was great. Felt like we went on an adventure! 😆 Loved it!
Really awesome to see more and more people find out about Old Gods of Asgard/Poets of the Fall thanks to Alan Wake 2! Their music is amazing, and both variations of the band push out amazing numbers! If you haven’t already, I’d highly recommend listening to Old Gods of Asgards first album which released in December, it’s the culmination of all their music in the games for the Alan Wake universe. Unless of course you were planning on waiting to react to them all, in which case I’d love to see how much you like their other songs! I’d definitely do Dark Ocean Summoning, that was another big music piece in Alan Wake 2 😄
Thank you so much. I was planning to react to more but I did notice they have that album on vinyl, and that's my jam right there. Regardless, this is just the beginning.
I highly recommend Anger Remorse by Old God Of Asgard and I’m waiting for it too. It is my favorite of them and it’s also in the Alan Wake game. Thank you so much
So the head of Remedy, Sam Lake, was close friends with the members of Poets before they were a band. That friendship is a large part of why Poets has such a close bond with Remedy and gave their performances to Old Gods of Asgard. The Old Gods exist within the universe of Remedy's games and have their own history within the game's lore.
That Jazzy voice at the end is Matthew Poretta , the voice of Alan Wake. Have you seen "Robin Hood, Men in Tights"? A young Matthew played Robin. Fantastic reaction. I love this band and song so much. I am subbing to you for such a great reaction.
Poets of the Fall has been my favorite band since about 2011 or so and I have loved them ever since. The first song they put out there as a band was for another remedy game called Max Payne 2 called Late Goodbye. That's how they met Markus (aka Captain), and got their name out there at the beginning, by working with Remedy. Sam Lake, the creator of Max Payne, Control and Alan Wake is a friend of Marko's and he also appeared on stage and in the music video here, too. Sam plays Alex Casey in Alan Wake. Anyways! If you'd like to check out more Poets songs, I recommend starting out with songs like Carnival of Rust, Lift, False Kings, Angel (look for Alexander Theater Sessions version), and War (another Alan Wake song).
Yeah since doing this, I have learned a ton and I love the information you are all catching me up with. This has been one of the greatest discoveries I have made in a long time and I am totally enthralled with all the things in and around this band, studio, game, actors, etc. Also, the suggestions have been great and I see a good amount requesting the same line-up. They are on the list. More to come.
@@DaneBramageROCKS welcome to the fandom or fandoms rather 🤗 I'm glad that you're getting to know them and all of their work. I felt the same way when I first heard them. It's like a door had been opened and light had started flooding through. They're a hidden gem for sure. They've spoiled me, music wise lol. No other band has been the same since. I look forward to your upcoming reviews.
the old gods 1st appeared in all wake 1 they had a farm and the music banging out was called children of the elder gods banging track 13 yrs later aw2 poets do it again as there alter ego old gods
The cool thing is the whole musical is a playable section in the game and the music is timed to progression in the level so the music syncs up to specific gameplay beats.
So to give some context, the Alan Wake games are very much horror games, with heavy inspiration from Steven King and the Twin Peaks tv show. In the first game, which this song is summarizing, Alan Wake is a writer that goes on a vacation to a small coastal town with his wife, while suffering from writers block. While staying at a small lake house, he gets into an argument with his wife when he finds out she brought him there to get help from a local psychiatrist, and shortly after leaving the house in anger, he hears her cry for help and sees her falling into the lake. After jumping into the lake to save her, he wakes up in a crashed car, just outside of town, with no memory of what happened. As the game goes on he discovers manuscript pages from a horror novel he doesn't remember writing, and all the things he wrote are coming true. At the same time, the local towns people are being possessed by a dark shadowlike presence that can only be destroyed by shining light on it, hence his use of a flashlight to weaken the enemies. Now imagine playing Alan Wake 2 which is a much darker story, again a mix of Twin Peaks but also a bit True Detective (and a bit Dark City if you know that movie), where you're exploring a more psychological and introspective horror story. Now Alan is actively trying to write a story that can reshape reality, to escape from his horrors, and the subject of what is real and what isn't is constantly being played with, and then all of a sudden... Herald of Darkness starts playing and you're in the middle of a musical. It's so surreal and weird and perfect.
AWESOME!! I am so happy I did this, I am learning so much and now I just have to go play the game. Thanks so much for providing that cause now I understand what is going on LOL. I did watch the walkthrough game footage and I loved it! Cheers, more to come.
@@DaneBramageROCKS If you ever do try the games, consider giving Remedy's other games a try as well at some point, especially "Control" since it is set in the same shared universe as Alan Wake, with a more X-files vibe. Their other games are also referenced in that shared universe, but since they no longer own the IP for those games, they can only refer to them indirectly, like having a character that looks and acts exactly like the main character in another game, while having "legally distinct" name and background story.
Most in the crowd are so confused. Alan Wake is way too niche. And that sequence is in the game, it's not just a "music video" out on YT. That's what confused everyone playing it :D
There are few people who could pull something like this off. Sam Lake is one, Hideo Kojima is another one. It takes something very special to be able to take that absolutely outrageous idea that pops into your head when you accidentally up at 3 am and turn it into greatness.
I agree, There are not many reactions where I become enthralled with all the thing it involves, but this is one of them! I already ordered some of their vinyl records!! And I am getting into the games.
You should totally watch the ashtray maze or listen to take control by old gods of Asgard, it’s from their game of control and some people think it’s better than herald of darkness
Some extra info: When Mr Door says at the start, that the song is "about the life of Alan Wake" he means it. The entire "Herald of Darkness" is quite literally a musical recap of the events from the 1st game. Even the 4th Chapter of the song is a direct recap of the DLC Episodes that were made for the 1st game. On top of that, the character of Tom Zane, that is mentioned briefly, is an important chatacter from the lore of the Remedyverse, but I don't want to share any spoilers, in case you ever want to play it or watch it.
Not quite. This is the full version of the song. The version you hear in the game is spliced and has sections that loop parts of the music. You don't honestly think they recorded a song for 30min did you? Your voice and fingers would be dead playing/singing for that long without break.
Who here remembers playing Max Payne 2 and hearing teases for Late Goodbye throughout the game, than once the final credits started you just stopped and were consumed?
From Poets Of the Fall, PLEASE listen to at least these songs: Late Goodbye, Locking Up the Sun, Illusion and Dream, Lift, and Stay (especially the live version) they are so under-rated and so amazing!! (Also during the Game Awards, at least the singing was very much LIVE)
I just love the fact that the guitarist in the story is already dead for years, but they are in a weird place where reality is just... wonky, the other two guys are now younger and Balder just... appeared, playing once more with them with basically no explanation.
I’ve listened to Poets of the Fall since they released their debut album Signs of Life in 2005. They’re an alternative rock band, Old Gods is their heavier, metal alter ego band. Should you decide to dive deeper into everything they’ve created over the past two decades, here’s a heads-up: you’re about to embark on an interesting journey, because they are so incredibly versatile. If you pay attention not only to their music, but the lyrics of the songs as well, you’ll quickly notice that the name ”Poets” is 100% justified. Marko, the lead singer, has such an amazing way with words and writes such deep and beautiful lyrics, that it is fair to say that each song of theirs is poetry. Just as each of their official music videos is a piece of art. And the best part about it all is, they’re producing and publishing all of that on their own tiny label called ”Insomniac”. Marko’s background and previous experience as graphic designer certainly comes in handy here. They had offers from major labels but fortunately they were smart enough to turn them down to retain their artistic freedom and remain independent. I look forward to your future reactions to more Poets and Old Gods songs. Thank you for this one, it was fun to watch, and I’m glad you enjoyed it. 🙏
NICE!! Love to meet the fans who followed them since the beginning. I learn a great deal from you all. This is a journey I am ready for. I am pleasantly surprised by the amazing turn out from this video and I can not wait to dive in to all OGOA and POTF. Thanks so much for the comment and welcome to the channel. More to come.
This isn't even the full song. The longest version is a hair over 13mins long. There isn't a music video for it but it's on apple music etc. Dark ocean summoning and The sea of night are both also absolutely fantastic listens. The latter of which isn't heard in the game, but towards the end of the game the band wade into the lake to save one of the main characters and I'd like to think it's about their journey diving in there.
Like in the live events usually. Marko (singer) was only one doing live. Anyway, at least Olli (the guitarist), would have no problem at all to perform his part live... Poets of The Fall... What a band.... And Remedy... Everything would be less, without them...
@@DaneBramageROCKS And that was like a live "event", not concert ;) Totally live there :D Yeah, Marko Saaresto and Sam Lake are friends from their youth. I believe they played D&D-together. So, that's mainly why Remedy uses Poets in their games. Myself found Poets from Max Payne and Alan Wake. Marko is even on first Max Payne as the Russian mobster (Vladimir Lem), if you check the comics in the game, you'll see. The guy on drums here, is actually their keyboard player Markus "Captain" Kaarlonen. Besides Poets, he has his "handmark" on tens of Finnish band and artists... And games, like Rochard. Just listen the excellent main theme there, Marko on vocals also, just a totally different vibe, bluesy song with low vocals from Marko...
@@DaneBramageROCKS No :D Not bad at all. There were also some of the guys who actually started Remedy. I mean, thinking it through. There is a guy who wants to write movies and so on. Gets into games and has a dream of combining different arts together (games, movies, music). And he just happens to be friends with one of the best singers and bands in Finland... I mean, Poets should be even bigger, but they have a good fan base. And they can do the job, really good. I think we have much more to see (and hear) from this collaboration...
I know I'm late to this video but listen. I've been a fan of Poets of the Fall for almost 15 years and I'm more a kindof metal guy. They are extremely good. Alan Wake 2 contains a bunch of great original music as well as including more music from The Old Gods of Asgard.
Deal! It is on the list! Thank You.
@@DaneBramageROCKS You won't be disappointed. I've played all the Alan Wake games, so the added context does add to it for me, but that song still makes it to my top 10 from Poets of the Fall/Old Gods of Asgard.
The song is about the plot of what happened at the lake in ye olde days, it isn't strictly about a character.
I recommend Take Control by the Old Gods, my favourite song of theirs and best lyrics too.
Excellent, thank you. I'll check it out.
Yeah right after this one, I bought the OGOA Album right away. POTF is next! 🤘Keep on Rockin'🤘
You need to check the 23 minute version, some guy went into the game files and grabbed all the parts, put them together so you can listen to the complete song
oh snap, ok. On it, thank you.
@@DaneBramageROCKS I did not expect a reply lol, I personally have not been able to listen to the short version since I discovered the full one, it just has so many nice touches.
@@xKey015x agreed. It puts all the work they did into perspective. And, I try to reply to as many viewers as possible. Welcome to the channel! 🤘🏻
@@DaneBramageROCKS you rock! Subbed.
@@xKey015x Thank you, welcome to the channel! 🤘🏻 Keep on Rockin' 🤘🏻
Looks like everyone is suggesting more Old Gods songs, so here's a couple from the Poets: "Carnival of Rust" and "Lift"
And More Old Gods you all shall receive!! I'm here for it, more to come.
Hi, from the home of Alan Wake/Remedy Entertainment and Poets of the Fall, both from Finland. 😊
Hello there!! Thanks you and welcome!
You may have already been told this, but this song actually plays during a part of the game diegetically or however it's spelled, as not to spoil it to much. So that to say the stage show wasn't just made for the awards.
Yeah I watched the walk through and made me love it even more. It's soooooo good
This was such a "wow" moment when it appeared in-game!
Yeah I walked the in game footage and got excited all over again! LOL. It was AWESOME.
The more I learn about this the more excited I get for this game and the group. Games and Music are the best merriment. Thanks so much, More to come!
It was Odin, Tor, and another person but I don't remember if the games ever told you who their third member was in the games.
Now you just gotta see the in-game chapter version (look up “We Sing” chapter), and BOY…is that a trip😂👍🏻
Oh nice, I think I found it. It's the one where he is watching the video on that little TV?
@@DaneBramageROCKS that’s how it starts, yes.
@@krisisgod666 Excellent!
Inception: We have a convoluted plot within a plot.
Alan Wake 2: Hold my beer.
Such a pleasure watching someone having so much fun listening to my favourite band! Thank you man.
I'm only getting started! Can't wait to see more!
I heard about that as well! I love learning all these little nuances
OK, yeah I have a good way ahead and I am excited to share the experience! More to come!
One really cool thing is that there were a bunch of original songs made for Alan Wake 2 and Remedy made sure that they wouldn't be copyright claimed since music is a big part of the Remedyverse since streamers had troubles with Alan Wake 1 if I recall correctly.
oh yeah, that makes sense. Some of those nuances you never think to consider! Good on em!
What I know is this - Old Gods ROCK!
☝🏻☝🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
I love that this song and video is making more people pay attention to Alan Wake cause both games are really underrated and should be more popular than they are from how well they're made.
Yeah it turned my eye to them!
Terrific reaction!
I absolutely love poets of the fall, Old Gods of Asgard, Alan Wake, Sam Lake and the whole of Remedy... They are too precious!
Yeah I have become enthralled with all the things involved in and around this band, the game, studio, etc. I'm in!! More to come.
Yey!
Noted. Yeah they have a good backing and looks like I have some great stuff to discover!
@@DaneBramageROCKS Live in Moscow 2013 is also amazing! POTF have a big fan base in Russia, but obviously those gigs as well as Ukraine were dropped off the tour when the Russian invasion started.
@@tanjanikola9489 oh yeah, I bet. Shoot, hope that ends soon.
@@DaneBramageROCKS Yessss please do, you’d look great with the eyepatch! 💯
...Dane is Marko's Mr.Scratch. He has a plaid shirt! 😂
Mr.Scratch is Alan's plaid wearing doppelganger that came to the real world when Alan was trapped in the Dark Place
He is really good guitarist and very versatile. He can play almost any style or genre.
Dude is AMAZING!
Plus game has internal movies scenes of like maybe for an hour, where Järvi playes parts too.
i sing this song everyday since was released, i am trapped
It has been stuck in my head everyday since. I feel like I am not in the game trying to escape the scenes. LOL (and I am not mad about it)
Also check out "Dark Ocean Summoning" and Angers Remorse. 2 other awesome songs from Alan Wake 2.
Will do! Thank you
If you do another video game music review, check out anything by Soken for Final Fantasy XIV.
Two of the more rock songs would be:
Shadowbringers theme
Scream
Oh, Love the FF franchise! Sounds fun, Thank you.

I highly recommend Anger Remorse by Old God Of Asgard and I’m waiting for it too. It is my favorite of them and it’s also in the Alan Wake game. Thank you so much
Excellent, Thank you. I have been getting some great recommendations and I am here for it all. More to come.
Oh nice. Yeah I am learning a ton about them and am stoked to have made this discovery. Thanks so much for the information.
That Jazzy voice at the end is Matthew Poretta , the voice of Alan Wake. Have you seen "Robin Hood, Men in Tights"? A young Matthew played Robin.

Good to know! Thank You.

The cool thing is the whole musical is a playable section in the game and the music is timed to progression in the level so the music syncs up to specific gameplay beats.
Yeah I have been watching a couple walk throughs and it really does out the song and video into perspective. It's soooooo good.

Yeah you have to know to know. You know! I had to research the entire story to understand.and am better for it
There are few people who could pull something like this off.
Yeah I have bouncing around their channel for the video game related stuff without trying to ruin another reaction opportunity (LOL) This is to fun.
If you get the chance, you should try their other big song, Dark Ocean Summoning.

You should also do Anger's Remorse, it is shorter but I'd say I like it even more than Herald of Darkness!!
Excellent! Thanks, I'll check it out.
This is arguably the most immersive song in any game
I arguably agree.
Some extra info:
When Mr Door says at the start, that the song is "about the life of Alan Wake" he means it.
The entire "Herald of Darkness" is quite literally a musical recap of the events from the 1st game.
Even the 4th Chapter of the song is a direct recap of the DLC Episodes that were made for the 1st game.
On top of that, the character of Tom Zane, that is mentioned briefly, is an important chatacter from the lore of the Remedyverse, but I don't want to share any spoilers, in case you ever want to play it or watch it.
ooohhh nice!! I kind of figured. I did watch the video game footage walkthrough and gained a much better understanding. It was AWESOME>
The first part is a recap. The very last part is about the 2nd game from the Alan solo singing onward.
THis is actually spliced from the 30th minute soundtrack of the chapter from the game. The full version of this song is 30 MINUTES
Not quite. This is the full version of the song. The version you hear in the game is spliced and has sections that loop parts of the music. You don't honestly think they recorded a song for 30min did you? Your voice and fingers would be dead playing/singing for that long without break.
Can highly recommend watching 1 or 2 playthroughs of Alan Wake - The Musical.
Oh yeah, I have. A few times LOL. It makes the music video and performance even better. And really cleared up a lot.
Who here remembers playing Max Payne 2 and hearing teases for Late Goodbye throughout the game, than once the final credits started you just stopped and were consumed?
I don't but that is awesome!!
Oh for sure. Got a good list from them and Old Gods still! Have a ton to catch up on 😆
In your own time you should check out the musical in the game. It adds another layer
Oh I have, a few times LOL. It's fascinating and I am here for it!
I just love the fact that the guitarist in the story is already dead for years, but they are in a weird place where reality is just... wonky, the other two guys are now younger and Balder just... appeared, playing once more with them with basically no explanation.
I was not aware of that, that's awesome.
😂❤❤❤
you should also react to dark ocean summoning by old gods
That has been suggested a few times now! I am on it.
Yeah I have the 13min version on my Spotify, its fantastic. I do have those lyrical videos saved for another day but yeah, I'm on it!
Like in the live events usually. Marko (singer) was only one doing live.
Anyway, at least Olli (the guitarist), would have no problem at all to perform his part live...
Poets of The Fall... What a band....
And Remedy...
Everything would be less, without them...
Yeah, I agree; the collaboration was incredible, and stoked the Remedy uses them for their games!!
@@DaneBramageROCKS And that was like a live "event", not concert ;) Totally live there :D
Yeah, Marko Saaresto and Sam Lake are friends from their youth.

You kinda look like Marko the lead singer. This game is the goty for me.
I have a few people tell me this! I love it! LOL
Ikr especially at 18:30 😄
@@carlosmagro8664 Might have to order an eye patch!
i think you should react the gameplay part
I would love too, but I have now seen it a few times, LOL. I couldn't wait.
@@DaneBramageROCKS Its okey I just want you to see it. Then what about another song in the final boss fight "Dark ocean summoning"
@@pyit.876 That one I have saved for another day! More to come.
I know I'm late to this video but listen. I've been a fan of Poets of the Fall for almost 15 years and I'm more a kindof metal guy. They are extremely good. All their albums are masterpieces and I can say there's only ONE song I don't like. Funny cuz the acoustic version is one of my favorites
You should give them I try. Marko's voice can cause orgasms to your ears lol
Btw is that a Static's vinyl in the wall? 👀
Oh Im late to SOOOO MANY videos, LOL. SO no worries. I'm truly stoked to get into that side of the band, as fun as OGOA are, I'm ready to dive into the OG. Cheers, more to come.
TOTALLY. It is the....as you probably know......the Start a War album.
Don't miss the Alexander Theater Sessions videos on UA-cam channel of Poet of the Fall.
I'll take a look. Thank you.
You kinda look like Marko, the lead singer, I'm not even joking 😂
WHOA!! Maybe for my next reaction I'll do a little dress up! Looks like I have a doppelganger now.
Listen to dark ocean summoning from them it’s from Alan wake 2 cover one not the gameplay I completed Alan wake 2 5 times songs u need to listen 2 is anger remorse and dark ocean summoning children of the elder gods there from them
Yeah that one seems to be the popular choice! I am on it, thank you so much.
@@DaneBramageROCKS let me know what you think about them ok 👍
@@xukzcarminesx1819 Oh you'll see it!
@@DaneBramageROCKS you going to make a video ?
@@xukzcarminesx1819 yeah, it was heavily requested so I'll react to it.
The guy doing voice for Alan Wake is not part of the band
Yeah I caught on to that! Thank You.
its not goose-bumps, its frisson effect :)
