This along with Glow is SLOWWWWW bringing up all the side preset views. Why is it that Topaz and Only Topaz always has some kind of issues with their previews? Forever it was the worst most inaccurate previews. Now they're just plain SLOW! Seriously Topaz you can(maybe not) do better.
Ken, Hopefully i can shed a little light on the speed issues you may be seeing. Glow and Impression depend heavily on your GPU for processing, if you're using a laptop with integrated graphics, or an older GPU with not a lot of DEDICATED memory, (not RAM), or if you're running outdated drivers on your system, you can see speed issues especially when opening large images. If you're running 2.0.3 though, we've added some preference options to help users on older or underpowered machines. You can uncheck "Show Painting Process" and "Enable High Resolution Processing" and you should see a significant speed increase. Our latest plugins utilize cutting edge technology to render their effect quickly, and it would be nearly impossible to achieve the effects you can get in Glow, Impression, or Texture Effects using just the CPU without GPU processing. It ultimately comes down to hardware. For more information on Topaz Impression 2 system requirements and if you'd like support on finding out if your drivers are simply out of date, you can view this article and contact support through the link below: support.topazlabs.com/hc/en-us/articles/221244467 Hope this helps.
That's helpful. I'm considering buying Impression 2, before tomorrow when the discount expires. My current laptop does not meet the system requirements though. I have been saving to buy a now Macbook Air, but I'm not certain whether the graphics processor on the Macbook Air 12 (2016) will meet the specs either. Do you have a list of which Macbook Air versions will meet the system requirements of Impression 2?
Donna, It appears according to the apple website that all new macbook air's have Intel HD 6000 integrated cards, which support up to OpenGL 4.1, So you should be fine, however id recommend at least 8 gigs of ram since your integrated graphics will be using it for processing and sharing with Photoshop. We do have a list of compatible cards available, (link below). As long as your card meets the recommended specs you should be fine, i've included those as well. support.topazlabs.com/hc/en-us/articles/213692577-Topaz-Labs-and-OpenGL The OpenGL Compatibility button listed under each OEM will help you find your GPU and what level of OpenGL it supports. Impression 2 Recommended Specs: Mac: OS: OS X 10.9, 10.10, 10.11 GPU: OpenGL 3.3 support or higher GPU VRAM: At least 1GB System RAM: At least 4GB PC: OS: Windows 7, 8, or 10 - 64bit Only GPU: OpenGL 3.3 support or higher GPU VRAM: At least 1GB System RAM: At least 4GB
