First of all, I want to thank you for all the helpful videos! Now I have two questions: do you make these drawings from imagination? And: why should one learn your way of gesture drawing if it is not used or needed by them like in this example. Thanks
These are drawn from life. To your second question, if you don't need gesture drawing then I absolutely wouldn't learn it. There's no pressure here. Pursue what you enjoy/need to learn.
Watching your lines and shapes, they are not only anatomy-aware but also pleasant, economic , simplified. In my current state, I can make anatomically correct shapes but they dont necessarily look good, instead, they are often noisy, high frequency and the shapes are uninteresting. Im afraid I might already know the answer to this question but, this sort of mastery of shapes comes naturally or is there a way to strive for it with specific studies or education?
Thank you. And, it definitely DOES NOT come naturally. It's all the result of studying a lot of anatomy, poses, positions, and developing an awareness of pattern and design. I definitely think it's possible for you to be doing the same.
Watching the video gives me an urge to practice my drawing. Thank you.
Seriously, thank you so much! It helps a ton to be able to see and hear how a process works. Your videos are helping me a ton!
Love to see your process for drawing, it really helps cement the ideas from your book. Thank you for sharing!
