I spend more time researching, watching UA-cam videos and buying art supplies than I do actual art. :P I am not ashamed because I will use everything eventually! Buying art supplies and doing art are two different hobbies haha. The lovely staff in The Art Shop know my name.....
Becky the pastels are really good. That's one of the best brands. Do try them. I am sure you will like them. Use them like a powder by scraping at them with a knife.❤️
The shinhan touch markers are considered one of the best copic dupes. They are great markers and very expensive, almost expensive as copic. They do sell refills which i definitely recommend you get bc they say shinhan refills also work with alot of the budget brand markers like: ohuhu and/or art n fly, Bianyo...etc...You shouldnt have buyers remorse for those markers, they are professional grade and considered almost as good as copics! Lucky you to find them cheap, im jealous!!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️ Great haul, thanks for sharing love!
OMG!! I have to convince hubby to move to Melbourne. I need to live closer to the Artshop. I also love this ceramic palette. I looked it up online but can't find it on their website. Fabulous video as always, Becky!
Oh my goodness, I laughed when I saw the title of your video! I've seen that Thomas Kincade coloring book a few times before online, and it's so darned gorgeous. Could be really intense to color, though. :-) I'm so excited you got the portable Kuretaki set! That thing is SO fun to use! I also LOVE that ceramic palette and water dish you picked up. Wow! I'd be really interested in seeing how the Bruynzeel brush markers work. I would also love to see those Sennelier acrylics. I laughed really loud when you said "I'm an idiot." HAHAHA! You crack me up. But oh my goodness, that IS a lot of pastels. Looking forward to some more videos from you, that's for sure! Remember to video when you do the color wheel - that'd be fun to see. Have a great week, Becky!
Haha thank you! It just ended up being a lot more than I'd anticipated, like the sorcerer's apprentice, lol. I am really liking the Bruynzeel brush markers, they're really nice! I can't wait to use everything....so much more than can be filmed in a short time, so many months of stuff there! I hope you have a great week too. 😄
Watching your old videos I love watching people's art supplies im a budget colourists so I only buy yearly but it's so lovely watching what others get and putting it on your wish list im still on the edge of the fragile world one but I do have 3 of kerbys books and I really enjoy them
So many goodies to unpack here! The Disney and animal coloring books are gorgeous😍 I also love cretacolor and want to try more of their products too. And I’m glad you’ve got some pastel pencils now! I’m curious to see what you do with them! I’d like to get some of those white faber castell pens too. Ahhhh I am living vicariously through this video! Btw there’s nothing wrong with a lifetime supply of highlighters!🤣
I just hope I can use all the highlighters before they dry out. I guess there will be a lot of pastel pink happening in my studio! 😂 Now to figure out how to use actual pastels....lol.
What a fun supplies haul !! Watching from the USA. I actually bought a set of inexpensive colored pencils (40% off) and two coloring books (30% off) today. Yay!!!
That porcelain palette is the thing that caught my eye. And dont mind the fact that you dont have space to put the supplies away; you got a good bargain, you bought it. Thats how it works😂
I'm currently on a watercolor kick. If only I had another lifetime with which to use up all of my watercolor paints, let alone all of the rest of my art supplies...
Hi! Thank you for your videos! I've been enjoying seeing what you have purchased. Don't despair about the markers - you can probably add some alcohol to revive them - take out the nib (carefully) and drip some in (don't overfill), replace the nib and let the marker lie flat for a bit then try it. Likely you can find info on this via Google. The markers shouldn't need refills if you haven't used them - just need more solution to reactivate the alcohol ink. If they are overly dry (or dry out fast after you revive them) then contact the manufacturer as you may have a cracked lid or marker base (a fine line crack may not be easily seen) or possibly the lid may not fit properly. Also be sure to keep the tip area and cap clean (I use a cotton swab and alcohol to remove excess). If it builds up, it will also allow air in. Regarding soft pastels: they are beautiful and fun to work with but you do have to be very careful with dust. Never blow on them! If they are artist grade, they may contain highly toxic elements that could be very dangerous if inhaled, absorbed by skin, or ingested (cadmium or cobalt for example). I use mine outside on a fairly vertical slant so the dust falls down into a collection tray (you can just use cardstock bent in a U shape to catch the dust below the paper). You can collect the dust in a container and make a pastel out of it by adding a bit of water and forming it into a shape. This will likely be a gray color, depending on what colors were used, but still useful! There are videos on this. I use a barrier cream for my hands (can get at most art supply stores) and use tools such as blender tools to blend. Pan Pastel brand has some great tools for blending (their pastels are expensive but have much less dust and are non toxic - just don't blow on them). Pastels are great for underpainting for colored pencils! Here are a couple links to pastel safety info: www.artistsnetwork.com/the-artists-magazine/is-your-pastel-studio-safe
I watched Chloe Rose paint a picture in the Thomas Kincade book. It wast resist. gorgeous. I am the same way when it comes to marked down items-I can't resist.
Becky, that palette and bowl os so lovely! I must go find something like it lol. Great haul! I can't wait to see you try out all the goodies. I'm looking forward to what you do in the teo coloring books as you have great talent and always pock the best colors. Have a great day!
That is an impressive haul. I like the typo pencil set tins. I buy them for my watercolour full pans which I organise by brand. Nice and uniform and easy to stack and store
Typo have been selling some really cool stuff lately, and their art supplies have increased in number. I was looking at the brush makers too, and the alcohol markers....and the marker roll holder....lol. Nice idea using the tins for watercolour pans! 💜
Omg, I just got that palette from typo too and in the same colour!! I was looking into those speckled ceramics on Etsy lately and then one day while I was waiting for my optometry appointment opposite was a Typo and I said to myself that I would just take a quick browse.. it's never a quick browse. LOL
Hahaha that's so true! 🤣 Have you used the palette yet? I'm really liking it, and the speckled ceramic is pretty. I'm impressed with Typo lately; they've really upped their game with funky art supplies.
I'll see how I go with my pens....other colours seem to work well but white can often be a problem. Skinny gel pens in particular always seem to clog up really quickly!
I'm curious about how the inktense mix. Also I read that graphite pencils are good for sharpening dull hand crank sharpeners. Didn't you buy some pastels from Sennelier a while back? Pastels are addictive. It's like coloured pencils but 10x faster.
I'd forgotten about this video - it has been a while! I do put graphite pencils through sharpeners to help clean them up - I have no idea if it does anything useful, but graphite usually is useful for that sort of thing. I do indeed have the Sennelier pastels, and I've used them a few times in a couple of videos - they cover a lot of ground very quickly.
i've been adding to my non water soluble or waterproof after getting a million water soluble and that watercolor set i am covering getting it when i get paid lol
I'm not sure that they do, but they are quite active on Facebook, and I've added some links in my video description just now so you can find them there (plus their website).
@@BeckyTregear Thank-you so much Becky, I really appreciate that! You couldn't have made it any easier for me.. if only I had read the description though (my bad, sorry)! Thank-you 🤗🤗
I love my typo palette. I had to stalk their website for months, after missing the first lot. It would show as online, but there was no cart button. The moment they came back in stock, I was on it. I have the same Kerby colouring book. It is so pretty, but also so hard. I don't have the patience for most of the images to do the justice. How did you go?
Like hens' teeth, those palettes! I use the cup more than the base, but it's such a lovely sturdy combo. I honestly haven't been doing much in the way of colouring in, so I'll have to get back to that book and have another look - decide which pic to colour next. And yes they're very complex; I have quite a few unfinished pieces in various books by Rosanes, lol.
Loved this becky, you made me laugh with the pastels thats something I would do I ordered the animal colouring book from your link its beautiful and only £5!!!
* Silently judging * ... not really, because I LOVE watching art hauls. 😎 Good for you, and thanks for sharing the fun! Wait a minute... "I have never even seen Beauty & The Beast". * Silently judging *
Love your huge haul! I recently went a bit overboard myself. There are some awesome pastel artists with channels here on YT, you should check some of them out and then try them. I love pastels - soft, hard and oils. It takes a while to learn to work with them, but they can be a lot of fun.
i would've shopped the exact same way as i'm sure most of us would so who cares what others think , you tube is what you do so u need it for your channel i wanted to start a channel but now it appears i'm not sure how much time i have left with stage 4 pancreatic cancer
I've been picking up a few others that are heavily discounted due to being damaged - I found some amazing Schmincke ones at a fraction of their usual price. One of these days I will sort them all out, lol.
It's an addiction isn't it, buying art supplies?! I know because I've been bitten by that bug too lol.. you just want to try EVERYTHING!
Exactly that, haha!
hi my names deb and i'm an art supplly junkie lmao
Ah!-there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good art supply haul!!!!. It gives you a warm, fuzzy feeling all over!!!!!.
I even managed to fit everything in to my studio! 😂
I spend more time researching, watching UA-cam videos and buying art supplies than I do actual art. :P I am not ashamed because I will use everything eventually! Buying art supplies and doing art are two different hobbies haha. The lovely staff in The Art Shop know my name.....
They know me well too, haha! And you're right, collecting art supplies is its own vocation. I enjoy it as much as making art, lol.
You can fill every alcoholmaker with alcohol ink by removing carefully the nip and drip it in,or soak it in with the nip still on.
Becky the pastels are really good. That's one of the best brands. Do try them. I am sure you will like them. Use them like a powder by scraping at them with a knife.❤️
Thank you....I will no doubt film a video using these for the first time, haha!
I love the paint palette. It looks so practical. Have never seen one like it before....
Neither had I, which is why I grabbed it. It's so unusual! ❤️
I love to use pastels as background and you can fix it with spray and color with color pencils over it
Great idea, thank you! 💜
@@BeckyTregear you're welcome. 💐

Thank you. I think the ones I picked up are pretty ancient, so I will have a look around for ink refills. The brush nibs on them are really nice! 😊
Oh if only I lived closer to The Art Shop I would have been so there.. Nice haul so wonderful to get new things to try. Enjoy them Becky.
OMG!! I have to convince hubby to move to Melbourne. I need to live closer to the Artshop.
I also love this ceramic palette. I looked it up online but can't find it on their website.
Fabulous video as always, Becky!
I tried to find it on their site too and I have no idea what they called it but I had no luck at all either! 😭. If I find it I will post a link. ❤️
Oh loving the watercolor sets.

If you layer up the white pitt artist pen you can build up an opaque layer and even colour over it again if you want! Even works on black paper! 😁
Excellent, I shall do that!
That was fun to watch 😀. That palette and water container from typo looks lovely Becky
Thank you - In was lucky to to see that palette; it is so pretty and unusual!

I picked up some dry (chalky) pastels from an op shop and I've been using them like a watercolour. I quite like the effect they give.
That's a great idea, I might have to try that!
Love this! I know the feeling re millinery supplies and music books!
I love books and I also have far too many of those (is that even possible?), lol.
Great haul! I love the palette and bowl. I have the inktense palettes and are my favourite paint. Have a great week. V.
Thank you, I hope your week is going well too! I was actually pretty sick on Monday/Tuesday with a 24 hour bug...not fun! 🤢

that Kinkade coloring book is impressive I wish the paper was thicker.
Me too! I am tempted to trace an entire picture onto heavy watercolour paper so I can paint it without the whole thing buckling.

You’ve never seen beauty and the beast 😳 i love the classic and the newer one! Love the video 😊

Me as a broke aspiring artist😳🤤 art supplies, I even sometimes dream of buying art supplies, it's weird, the acrylic paint looks good
