Thanks for the video, but the hydraulic strut should be installed with the rod at the bottom and cylinder at the top to prevent dust from accumulating and entering with operation.
I don't understand their instructions, engineers who make gas shocks request that you install the piston facing down as this further helps the piston seal and water to drain away from the sleeve. I flipped mine and it works the same, if not helping to slow the opening ever slightly.
"It’s very important to mount your spring with the piston rod facing downwards. This position keeps the oil in contact with the rod seal, preventing it from drying out. But more importantly, it ensures the piston dives into the oil, which reduces the velocity at the end of extension."
Just installed this. Super easy and works great. Thanks for the video!
Thanks for the easy to follow video. Had mine installed in about 10 minutes.
Great to hear!
I think this is a must have laid them. I got mine through Ford accessory’s, I don’t remember, who’s it is.
Does the half open position for the tailgate still work with this mod?
Can you attach it to the right side of tail gate
no you cannot unfortunately , has to do with how the "attachment" plates with strut mounts are welded.

I installed my inside down as well, but I'm having a really hard time removing the shock. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Its just a rebranded strut from Dee Zee, who make the same thing for Ford.
Nope, its Rough Country's own product. They look very similar obviously, not much you can do differently design wise on a gas strut
@@PandaMotorworks ok.. I'll just pretend they don't all come from one factory in China..
Do you need one of them or two
Rough country sends you 2, Im confused@@PandaMotorworks
