ACIM Text CH13 Sec. X:P1-10: Release from Guilt

If we are to release ourselves from the cloud of guilt we must look at it to discover it is an insane idea and let it go. Where is it found? Its real source is hidden from our sight by our "notion that mind can see the source of pain where it is not." This is a displacement of attention to look for the source of guilt associated with the pain, where it is not. This is less fearful but keeps the real source hidden.
By attributing the source of pain to what appears to be separate from us, we avoid looking within at the insanity. "Insane ideas have no real relationships... For all relationships that guilt has touched are used but to avoid the person and the guilt."
"As long as you believe that guilt is justified in any way, in anyone, whatever he may do, you will not look within, where you would always find Atonement."
