My New Hunting Truck (Adding Accessories)

- I just got a new hunting truck this year and I went with something different than usual. We've been getting a lot of questions about what truck I'm using this hunting season. Well I've decided to buy a Ford Raptor after comparing and contrasting all sorts of different models and manufacturers, trying to find the best solution for what I do.
Once I made that decision, I knew I wanted to set it up to be a total hunting rig that I could take in the mountains and not worry about getting stuck. So I got a whole kit from Warn Winches including a winch, bumpers, extensions and accessories.
Believing in the motto "Pay the man" I decide to take it to Mike's Off Road here in Bozeman, rather than mess it up by trying to do it myself. They do a fantastic job mounting the front bumper and the winch. Next we plan to do the same on the rear.

Randy has put in alot of hard work and dedication to get where he is at in life.
Nice ride don't forget a high lift jack a chainsaw and a strap for pulling out Chevy's I also keep a ammo box with spare wheel bearings and tools for whatever trailer were towing on long solo hunting trips I bring a spare battery and more bullets
Love it only took 8 minutes to install. Those boys do have talent!
Dude I have a stock 2011 Mazda 3 hatchback you wouldn't believe the places I've been i shot a moose had to unload the moose for a crappy mud pit went thru the pit reloaded the moose and drove home rear bumper almost dragging but hey I made it home great memories with family
I love my Raptors 1 Gen and 2nd Gen. My 2nd generation blew 2 transmissions by 7k miles. So disappointed. Got me a TRD PRO TUNDRA now
I have a 2015 Tundra SR5 with TRD options. No problems at all. 100,00 miles on it. I wonder if its still worth adding a cap and a winch with this miellage on.
@@gabimarie8 Toyota motors are known for lasting with high miles. I have the same year truck with the 5.7. The turbocharged motors, like the Ford eco boost, will wear out way faster due to higher internal pressures. Well known, that's why Ford doesn't hold value like a Yota.
I have an 08 5.7 TRD with 211k miles. Not a fluid seep in sight nor does it look like it has 200k miles on it. Best truck I have ever had. Just has some custom Arizona pin stripes lol
Good to see you in a Ford Randy! I love my 2012 F150 Ecoboost. Great hunting rig and family hauler!
Btw I drive a 2000 Ford F-250 all over the country hunting with 380,000 miles on it. Bought new. Fords are great trucks.
After everybody asking the same question and wanting to see the new truck, and the thread on HuntTalk, I am glad that you feel comfortable sharing more about it. I know that you didn't want to share a video on it because so many people got laid off because of the C word. Now there has been enough time that you can share more about it. She was a little too WIDE for some of those trails through the alders and junipers in Nevada that is for sure.
Even though I have been looking more at the Nissan Titan Pro-4xs (I like the new refreshed model) because of you, when you find a steal of a deal on the current King of Off Road trucks you have to jump on it. One definitely can't go wrong with doing some WARNE upgrades to their truck, even though you backed out without the rear bumper on. Good point about many guys and gals buying Raptors and completely neutering them by keeping them as Pavement Princesses. lol .... Idaho will be a different kind of test than Nevada was for you. Looking forward to those episodes. Thanks for sharing Randy's Raptor.
Randy you may want to consider getting a high mount intercooler. That winch blocks the direct flow of the stock configuration.
Randy I sincerely believe you’re going to be much happier with this truck as your honorary hunting truck compared to previous trucks you’ve had. And I’m not even a ford fan, just know what these are capable of. The only caveat with this raptor is the short bed for all your gear.
Enjoy, I love your show & channel!
Just so everyone one knows. I told him to not buy a Ford. Lol😂
Hey, you never listen to your to your older brother, so why should he listen to you about trucks?
We switched to fords in 2015. Best move we made!
Randy called me to ask what he should buy cause as the younger brother he thinks I know trucks better.😄 I told him don't buy a Ford and what does he buy? Should of just bought a Honda Ridgeline to match the rest of his fleet at home. Gotta be better than a Ford. Goes to show he doesn't listen very well.
Fix Or Repair Daily
Personally I would have gone with a 2021 Ram TRX 🤘🏼
Ford Raptor is a Beast off road. I'm sure it will serve you well, the only bad thing about a Raptor is its width on the trail on some tight forest service roads hence Colorado Pinstripes happen. Winches and Tire chains are two things you never hope you need but nice to have. Enjoy and I want to see the pictures when you get stuck as we all do sooner or later. TC and Good Hunting.
Really, a Ford Randy? It's a new low. But we still love you and what you do. Cheers. TJ
See if they will let you borrow the El Camino for a hunt!
It would be a great story on how it was done in the old days!
I was thinking the same!
I love my Raptor. Lets me sleep in, cause we get to the trail head in record time.
I’m going to go on record now and say that I am 53 years old and I want to be you when I grow up. 💪👍🇺🇸
Careful, I am 62 today and absolutely refuse to grow up. And have the scars and liver cancer to prove it.
WOW! You managed to tear up and wear out the TITAN already! But, hey POTUS is happy you bought AMERICAN! No better truck for what you do than the FORD Raptor! Wishing you great luck and good hunting!
Stepping up HUGE from the Titan. That’s the seriomente!!!
Can you talk a little about what ARE Shell you got as well as the roof rack on top of the camper shell?
Is this before or after the installation of the Arizona pinstripes on the NV trip ;-)
guess its time to ditch my beater honda civic and step up to the plate. I will miss it though...its been ridden hard and put away wet...you've inspired me again randy...thx
Good choice on the Ford. I just got rid of my 2018 Titan 4x4 SV. Too many problems with that truck. I now own a Ford. No pavement queen !
"Pay the man" - I feel exactly the same way. I pay for the expertise of others and they give me peace of mind that the job was done right. Good luck this fall
You know he didn’t pay a dime right?
Yes yes . Ford Ford.
First week I had my VelociRaptor I broke the driveline and messed up the yoke.
Went with Strange Engineering afterward. It’s been on Alaskan logging roads, Montana forestry roads, Moab.
Hmmm.....nothing mentioned about the new front bumper and winch blocking airflow to the stock intercooler. Time for a COBB or Full Race intercooler to get your cooling back.
A raptor is a pavement princess
Wow nice of warn to hook ya up I’ve used warn winches from 77 great stuff . Install is easy too
Ford Raptor - my dream truck. Can't wait to see it when it is done!
They ain't that great trust me. I've owned 2. TRD PRO TUNDRA now. So much happier. Although my 2013 Raptor was sexy. My 2019 was trash. 2 transmissions blown in the first 7k miles. All show no go. SMH
@@gunneroffroad9850 Wow. Good to know. Thanks. I'll have to look at the TRD.
@@HiTechRob no problem. Thank you for being nice. Most people tell me I'm crazy for saying that but. I've owned 6 trucks in my lifetime. 2 raptors. 2 Toyota and 2 Chevy. By far the Toyota vehicles have been bomb proof. 2013 Raptor was great. Honestly don't know why I got rid of it but I did. 2nd Raptor was a complete lemon. 2 Chevy had so many electrical problems and rear differential issues. I'll go with what's been reliable and not so pretty. I do get alot of compliments on my TRD PRO TUNDRA .
I was waiting for Randy too hollar, April fool's at the end of the video. Lol
Randy plays ‘possum a lot.
He is more than capable.
Awesome!!! A real truck 👍
Get some rocker sliders...... A good investment I've made to my hummer
Grenaded my warn 12000m called warn and only heard crickets.
Just ordered a sherpa 17000 from Australia. I will soon see if it was a wise purchase,5000 pounds more power and half the price.
Now that you have a new truck, you owe us a review on the Cooper AT3 tires you put on your last truck.
At3 4S tires have done me well on and off road. Wanted a quieter tire on the Hwy. Not as aggressive as other Coopers, but I like them better than the AT3 I use to have and better than the ATP. Cooper is a good company.
Well the best thing about the your new truck is now the front bumper and warn winch and the back bumper when it gets installed. Everything between the new warn bumpers needs to be upgraded to something else besides a ford. 🤓
Looks like a beast of a truck, makes my Toyota Hilux look like a hairdressers truck!
Go Wade find those deer 🦌 😃
You should look up rhino shield...it’d be perfect for your truck for what you do.
Get your own show!😂👍
Dont forget about a good set of led driving lights Randy
no one tell Randy's wife thats hes actually handy
Love the truck hunting is hard on vehicles got to have a good one to hunt hard....i like it better than the other truck..
With the amount of miles and the various hunts this guy goes on it'll be tested better than Ford can ever do. I hope we get updates on it so we can see how it does.
Should be interesting.....
Now all you need is to compound/polish those scratches! Good gawd almighty Randy, it’s so bad I’ll do it for free!
You should get a ground anchor too
Randy bought a Real Truck!!!!!! Nice
Its too late now but you could have put a wrap on the truck to protect from scratches. When you go to resell it you can just pull the wrap off. But also a cheap paint job wont be too bad either.
What a sweeeeet ride. Coming from a Chevy owner.
Randy, I never thought I'd see you in anything other than a Nissan. Good choice going with a Ford. Those Raptor's are wicked looking, and it looks like yours is going to be vicious! Take care buddy!
Nice truck. I like the ARE canopy as well. Nothing wrong with buying American!
Hey very very great choice !!!
Congratulations ! Enjoy ! Bob
Great Looking Truck!
Looks good , just need some lights in that bumper.
I always wanted a Raptor, but then I got a 17 F250 6.7 and never want to go gas again!
Sweet truck! You should look at the kc roof rack with the integrated light bar and side lights for on top of your cab. I have one for my 2018 f150 and its not the heaviest duty rack but its really nice to have that lighting and it can bear some weight
Randy, it would be interesting for you to explain why you switched to the Raptor from the Titan. And btw, for as much as you drive, you should’ve got a diesel . . .
It was parts for us.
We have a small fleet of the Cummins Titans. We’ve sold off 20 of them and we kept 5. We went with Rangers. Best move we could have done.
Reliability seems to be an issue with the newest generation of Titan Randy had, I’m wondering if that’s the reason for the switch.
@@Cody_Austin It could also be that the Titan has not done well and Nissan scaled back the Titan offering big time.
@@Majja13 I knew it wasn't selling well, this may be due to the reliability thing I mentioned. I don't think Randy will actually come out and tell us what the bad things about the Titan were. He's a respectable guy, he doesn't want to throw stones at a company that helped pay his bills for many years like that. I wouldn't want to do that either, just explain the cool features my new rig has.
Ford raptor? Planning on doing some hunting in the dunes?
The Raptor is an amazing rig... I got the 2020 TrailBoss and very happy with it. I hunt the same unit as you Randy in AZ 😜
Pretty awesome truck.
"Never been jumped"? LOL
And ya still haven't cracked the windshield. Just not trying hard enough. ;)
Nice truck randy! your always going to have those guys. Ford f150s have been the #1 selling truck for a reason. I hope it treats you well because I know you will use it for it's intended purpose. welcome to the dark side🤘
Looks great
Dream truck. Congrats
Looks like you gave up on Nissan and went Ford finally a good truck. Well done Randy, keep the Video coming, keep Hunting with Bow Batty.
I’m curious if your ARE canopy will leak like mine did. (First year and a half like a sieve!) ARE and it’s dealers said “They’re not promoted to be waterproof...if you want dry, put your gear in Rubbermaid bins!” Anyway, if you have a problem, DM me and I’ll share the fix. Nice rig Brother!!
I spent 40k on my truck and use it to bear hunt all over the hills of WV. My wife cringes everytime we head out. She loves it so much she went and got her a Toyota 4Runner. Now she just says it is your truck. Trucks are meant to be used not driven on the streets.
Nice ride brother.....pimp it out proper.
Show us your ARE MX topper and ARE rack.
“Pay the man” I wish more people thought like randy👍🤙
No...do it yourself and "pay yourself"
I told my wife I will use Randy"s philosophy of not being handy around the house!
Looks slick!!
Did I hear correct that you are getting a second winch for a cradle to slide into the rear receiver? If so why not have just one winch and use a front receiver instead of the bumper?
Did you solicit Ram for a Powerwagon, would have already had the winch at least. Unless you're not a Ram fan...
That girl is a Hoot!
Good lookin setup.
I liked the Titan 💪 better...I don't know I just lov d it...that truck it's hard to kill..
Save your resale value and put a wrap on it to protect the paint.
Nice! I had to trade in my tuck because I lost my job
What made you switch from the titan
Nissan quit giving him trucks that’s what.
Much better off road capability in that Raptor.
@@Randy_Savage_ohyeah the pro 4 x titans have a rear locker. Not sure what all the Raptors have but I would assume a front locker as well. Which every single truck should come with mandatory
@@prostitutionsavedmymarriag3015 my F250 super duty Lariat comes with rear lockers and it's not even the FX4.
Drew w they only loaned him one and he was going to buy it from them when the raptor came up at a better price than normal
I want that el camino
Make sure you pack a chainsaw so when you get stuck between two trees on the trail. :) Thought you loved your titans? Raptor is a great truck but holy cow are they WIDE!! You will enjoy the room thsts for sure and now a days sure you will be using a UTV on the tighter roads. Enjoy
Come on Randy, you do a 30 + minute hunt video and only a 8 minute truck build video. Now we gotta wait 🤦♂️
Hey Randy, say Hi to my cousin Shane & uncle Mike for me next time you’re in there!
Now it needs some Nitto ridge grapplers. They’re worlds better than those BFG’s.
So far I like my Ridge Grapplers - on a new 4Runner.
How come you didn’t go with another Titan Randy? Was it reliability issues with your last one?
I was wanting to see this so i would recognize your truck if I bump into you 1st season Colorado. If you see my grey gmc. Dont worry you will know it by the RMEF and Back country hunters and anglers stickers. Just leave me a note. I will do the same.
Did you need to change the front suspension at all to compensate for the winch weight ? OBTW very very excellent truck choice.
Although it won't be real comfortable towing your lama around.
How do you like the tires?
Finally Randy. Im so glad you finally got a real truck. 😂😂
You should have bought a Jeep, but I get it, old guys like you need your creature comforts...LOL. Enjoy that truck, I love em, just can't justify the extra 20 grand.
Randy. Im newish to hunting. Do you know of any second hand hunting websites? Cloths, binos, backpacks etc. I know you guys buy tons of new gear every year. Where does the old stuff go?
Rokslide has alot of good used hunting apparel as well as Archery talk. Facebook hunting groups can be a great resource as well. Check out camofire.com for sales on new equipment/clothes. I cant speak for what they do with there old stuff.
When you going to put the rainbow on it...😅
I have been wondering how long it would take to address the elephant in the room...😆. Sweet looking ride Randy! Bring on the jealous haters who will have something negative to say just because they wish they were doing what you do...
Whoa whoa whoa no more Nissan?!
Change of sponsorship....
Sweet truck!
I have to ask the obvious question...was there anything wrong w/ the Titan? I've considered buying a newer Titan (can't afford a Raptor) so just wondering.
Anybody know what roof basket/mounts he has on his topper?
Don't forget to add roadside assistance. You're going to need it.
60k on my 17 f150. Only ever been in the shop for routine maintance.
Randy, you ok ? Looks like your back was giving you issues.
GD Ford truck damn near bankrupted me...better luck to you my friend.
6.0 or 6.4 powerstroke diesel? Those can get expensive. The 6.7 PSD is solid. The 5.4 V8 had high mileage issues but I put 160k on one with no issues.
