That volume "treble bleed" stuff is amazing. Real good sounding. This guitar looks the perfect blend of both sides, vintage and modern. I only miss the spaggetti logo. Good job, Fender.
The ultimate Stratocaster that all guitar players would love to buy. Leo Fender invented a revolutionary instrument that is still an icon and marked a trend since then. Along with Mike Lewis excellent, precise review, and awesome playing, explaining every guitar feature and sound profiles with excellence. A superb video indeed! Like button!☺
Some great features. Best of which is the contoured heel at the back of the neck. Look forward to trying one out, which would be difficult as I play lefty. Anyway thanks Fender.
The Hardest thing was to choose the Colour , but i m really happy with the Phantastic Sunburst Finish , its done PERFECTLY 100% I m so Happy now with this AXE , also the Pickups ...they are sounding so cool , also with distortion , who needs Humbuckers , when you have SUCH cool sounding PU´s ? I mean Really there are NO better Strats as The Original from the Fender Custom Shop . Amen .
I Bought this Guitar in Sunburst Today ! I Played it two times and i REALLY Wanted the Postmodern Stratocaster by 7ender I Played a Roadworn for 8 years or so , and i NEEDED another one because Strats are the BEST Guitars , NOW , i m so Happy with the postmodern , THANK YOU 7ender Your Guitars are so Cool !
These Stratocasters have a lot to offer, actually. Perhaps some or all of these features are not important to everyone; but they are appealing to me, and I've been at this for a full 54 years. Yes, you have to spend some dough to get what you want, but that's marketing and pretty much applies to everything, including cars. Here is Fender's list of amenities for this guitar, including compound radius fingerboard and large frets, and nitrocellulose lacquer finish and lots of color/neck choices: The 2015 Postmodern Stratocaster® is elegantly designed with a reappraisal of modern assumptions. A thoroughly contemporary take on a time-honored classic, it has a lightweight ash body with a comfortably contoured heel, a quartersawn maple neck with a finely sculpted '60s "C" profile, a fast compound-radius (9.5"-12") "round-laminated" maple or rosewood fingerboard with 21 narrow jumbo frets, and three sparkling Fat '60s single-coil pickups (reverse-wound/reverse-polarity middle pickup) with modern five-way switching and a special "Tone-Saver" treble-bleed network that keeps tone consistent at any volume (no loss of highs when decreasing volume). Other premium features include a three-ply parchment pickguard, American Vintage synchronized tremolo bridge, staggered tuning machines (no string tree), Schaller® strap locks and Fender "F" logo engraved neck plate. Available in Black, Olympic White, Dakota Red and Three-Color-Sunburst new "Journeyman" Relic® lacquer finishes, which imparts the appearance of years of aging and light use without heavy wear and tear. Includes black textured vinyl hard-shell case.
Well you can "make" it yourself, CS Fat 60s pickups are available on the market for around 200$ and the Tone Saver is around 50$, combined with luthier work it will be around 400/500$ total
With all these boutique builders and parts guitars, it seams they'd want ALL their guitars to be there about best they could offer and not just save it for the high end custom shop models. The difference in cost for those improvements would be minor.
I contacted Fender customer care to inquire on an interesting discovery. I have a 2016 Eric Johnson Rosewood Strat with the bound fretboard in Lucerne Aqua Firemist. It *is* factory with zero mods. But, from the factory it somehow ended up fitted with Fat 60s (beveled magnet ends with the bluish markings in the underside of the pickguard). Any ideas as to how this happened? This is the 3rd EJ I’ve owned, so just wondering whether this is an ‘oops’ type of thing?!
Phill PT Gotta get the $1,300 Deluxe or you lose the contoured heel. Or for a totally sculpted heel- a $750 ESP LTD MH-350 or $900 MH-1000 (plus $150 to replace the EMG pickups with Passives). I'm playing my 2008 MH-400 right now... $363 off ebay!
They're not for sale as of yet. The tone sounds great to me too, but beware..the big question is "what amp is he playing?" A lot of that great sound is coming from the amp. Possibly a custom shop hand wired Tweed Deluxe. Also something that helps makes that great sound is the lightweight ash body.
Fantastic guitar and awesome playing ! As usual....I am about to change the pickups on my guitar for more warms ones ! Are they warmer ( more bass) than the fat 50 ? Won’t they be to dark on alder-rosewood 60´s style strat ? Are they to warmest set you know , but well balanced and warm clean too ? Thanks a lot for answer and help..Kindest regards from France, Gaëtan
4:25 Admission from Fender that all their lower priced strats are INTENTIONALLY sold with a design flaw. Must pay $1,300 for a contoured heel? This is why we leave Fender or make our own "strats". Fender, you do not have a monopoly that allows you to withhold features from those of us who cannot afford $1,300 guitars. We all see it for what it is- marketing manipulation to extract more money by your intentionally withholding the contoured heel, which is a feature that makes it so that we can make our music. Your marketing department needs to do some more research before all of us have gone to other brands and custom guitars. Same thing for the 22nd fret feature. How are sales?
$2,900 for this guitar?!!!!!! LOL I just bought a 2008 ESP LTD MH-400 off ebay for $363 to get a contoured set-through heel that is 100 times better than the contoured heel that Fender DOES NOT EVEN OFFER until you spend $1,300 for a Deluxe strat! I got it yesterday and have to replace the sterile lifeless EMGs with passive pickups- then it should be awesome. If Fender sold a Mexican-made or American-made fat strat with 22 6150 jumbo frets (stainless preferably) and a contoured heel and a compound radius fretboard for $700 or even $800 I would have saved up for it. But, no, they REFUSE to create good MODERN guitars for those on a budget. I love strats (with humbuckers in the bridge) and I love the middle and neck single coil sound. I would be a strat guy through-and-through, but I just can't accept the corporate marketing manipulation as they sit on their laurels banking on our acceptance of it. My first guitar is a 1997 Mexican-made strat on which I have gradually replaced every part... pickups, USA Custom Guitars compound radius 9.5-12" neck with SS6150 frets, Super-V bridge since fender WITHOLDS the 2 point trem on the mexi guitars etc. If I got famous I wouldn't even want a Fender signature model. It's the principle of the thing. They don't value those of us who can't drop $1,300. I get it. We get it. They will get it when all these baby-boomers die-off and stop buying the guitars that they have loved since the 1960s-70s-80s. Then the only consumers left will be guys like you and I who jump ship and buy $600-700 guitars that come with the MANDATORY features of a modern guitar. I think they want us to go to Jackson guitars (which they own), but those skinny toothpick necks are crap.. just like Ibanezes are... Fender, fast-forward to your future profits and consider making strats that feature the modern features you have ALREADY designed and feature on your Deluxe model guitars... Fender, you are under the misconception that your only competition is Fender. This is not the case at all. For the 63 or 69 year-old baby boomer who has loved strats since the 1960s or 1970s, then yes, maybe you do not have any competition because they are content with you still selling 1970s/80s strats. When the last baby-boomer and SRV fan is gone you are going to have a problem being relevant if you deny logical modern features to the budget musician. Actually... I AM an SRV fan (that's why I bought a strat as a newbie)- and I've bailed on Fender. John Mayer is an SRV and Hendrix fan... and he doesn't seem concerned about upper fret access... but there are not a lot of those guys left... Why not start running the American Deluxe contoured heel CNC program when you machine all the bodies? WHY NOT? Oh yeah... $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ I better write some good songs so I can get my ESP signature model in the future... /rant off Fender does have one model that has the contoured heel of the ESP LTD- it is surely made in the same factory in Indonesia... ONE modern model in the line... and it's an ugly telecaster body! Their only model with all the modern features is in the shape of the oldest Fender guitar that exists. www.fender.com/guitars/telecaster/special-edition-custom-telecaster-fmt-hh/product-026200.html I believe that Fender probably used to have this factory make the "Showmaster" there, but then had them stop making a modern looking guitar with a trem and switch it to a hard-tail tele. Must have been cutting into strat sales? The neck profile of the showmasters (if you can find one used) are super thin- like an ESP LTD M- model which has their "Super-thin U" neck, which is not a good thing. I wonder if this Tele version is the same? The MH model ESP LTD I bought has the "Thin U" which is perfect for strat players. The only reason I typed all this is so that Fender can evolve and match the market and stay relevant. Their "youtube guy" will probably just delete it? So I should probably message them directly... ;)
***** My ego is not involved since I don't care what anyone else thinks of me. And no, I wasn't trying to brag. No, I think it is a confirmation that my view is shared by many people (only nine of whom have viewed this video here on youtube). The 9 is a representative sampling of a larger sample (all guitarists on earth).
StratMatt777 9 out of 10,272 hardly validates your point. That's 0.09% of the people who watched this video, and that's rounding up. Acting as if that somehow represents "all guitarists on earth" is just hilariously foolish. Like Ceecu said, don't like Fender, why come on here just to complain? You found what you prefer to play, we get it. Go play your ESP and I'll play my Fender. There's a certain vibe guitars should give you regardless if the features are modern or not. That is a point you've missed badly. I would gladly pay $2200 for an American Vintage strat if I could because there's something to playing a guitar like that. But I reiterate my point, you found what you prefer to play, go ahead and spend all that time you took to research and complain about a non-issue and I dunno, actually play guitar.
***** Fender appreciates you guys! And I'm sure they employ a lot of very good hard working people so it is a good thing that you rich guys keep buying their 1970s guitars or paying $1300+ for the modern features that should be standard like the contoured heel. This isn't supposed to be an insult or even disrespectful. Just the facts as I see them! :)
If these features are indeed improvements and I believe they are, why not put them in all your standard models? Don't you want all your guitars to be the best they can be? The cost difference is miniscule when you are honest with yourself
The middle pickup doesn't need a tone control, by the way ... leave that one full treble for jangle and 2 & 4 positions which need to be bright ... And put that bottom tone pot on the back pickup to knock off some of that way-too-bright, treble.
Looks and sounds great! But Fender AND Gibson have lost their damn minds with these prices!! I've gone to ESP/LTD for anything I want from a Gibson/Fender. The LTD's are a fraction of cost, and they play terrific!! I'd love to have the original stuff, but it's just not worth it, unless you're that type of person that has to have the "real thing" and have thousands to spend. There are great alternatives out there. Fender, PLEASE lower your prices, and I'd be more than happy to jump aboard with these guitars.
Nice ax, BUT so-called "Relic Finishes" just look like some fool didn't take care of his ax, not owned by someone who plays great 'cause they've been doing it a long time. I see that & immediately think, "IDIOT."
When we buy a new, shiny, unblemished strat we tend to pick the color that we enjoy looking at. When not being played and hanging on the wall they are like a piece of art. I feel the same way about relic strats. Instead of shiny black, red or sunburst some of us like to look at these. Plus, the one I have (black over sunburst) is the best strat in terms of comfort and tone of any I've ever played (I'm 51 and I've played alot ranging from $400 to 4000). So if you see a person who plays great and has great tone, to immediately think that he or she is an idiot because the guitar being played is reliced is pretty IDIOTIC.
I've been playing at least as long as you've been alive, and if you can't tell a well-worn ax from chipped and "reliced" BS, you're definitely an idiot, AND probably not much of a player, either. Go ahead & buy some marketing guy's idea of how to get rid of factory 2nds & mistakes. That's just plain stupid.
Zeek Duff The other guy replied with a sensible and entirely plausible argument, in response to a toxic comment from someone who should know better given his age ie you. Your view is not objectively ‘right’. It’s just your view. For what it’s worth, I think the other guy is 100% correct and you are an utter asswipe. But hey, just my view.
ALL of the Strat neck heels should have the "Elite" Strat model precision cut free-of-charge. The other cut is ugly and un-professional looking. The same with the staggered tuners: THERE SHOULD NO LONGER BE ANY "STRING TREES" ON ANY MODELS--JESUS! Get with The Program, Fender!
Fender has lost their minds. You know that you could buy a used Mexican Strat for 300 bucks have a pro setup done and swap out the pups and have a killer strat for under 7or 8 hundred bucks or if you must have an American made Strat just buy an American standard. The fat 50's pups sound great and it costs much much less than this nonsense.
Good to know we still get to chew our palms up on your shitty stamped saddles, Fender. A G&L Legacy offers better saddles, better vibrato, and better tone controls, with the only ding against it being the headstock shape.
That guitar is a dream.
Man this guy can PLAY!!!
Ive got this guitar. If people want to take the piss thats there opinion! but it really is amazing! Best strat ive ever had/played

Best sounding strat I’ve heard in a while. Very “Keith.”
The Neck pickup sounds just like SRV😍
Nice strat. The sound is real and classic,
Super nice Strat ! Love it !
This guy truly is the most guitarded person on the planet!!!!! Nr 1.
PLEASE PUT OUT THE FAT 60s FOR SALE AS A OPTIONAL SET.

What amp is being used? Pedals?
If i buy a Postmodern Stratocaster can i put a full humbucker in the bridge?
The guitar body has room for it?
Thanks!

...But they are still Fenders, so it seems they haven't lost their minds after all.
I wonder why they haven't wound the middle pickup the other way before. If it eliminates the hum...
They've been doing the middle position humbucking for decades. It's only that they don't do it in regular vintage reissue series.
French subtitles 😤
Good to know we still get to chew our palms up on your shitty stamped saddles, Fender. A G&L Legacy offers better saddles, better vibrato, and better tone controls, with the only ding against it being the headstock shape.
all Squier guitars you into a fender....eventually would Squier be so rare that it is possible only become more expensive
Be good if you made all your amps that sound like that1
How would you compare it to later model with Ancho Poblano PUs? Thanks!
So it's still a regular strat.Just because someone took the time to fit and setup like it should be,you charge thousands.BS.Scam.
Nothing new here!
Kinda too much tone saver talk here. Treble bleed mod cost $2 and 20 minutes of work.
lol 21 frets? Bye.
TheBoondoggler its a strat.... Thats like being surprised it has single coils lol
