@@brycefreestyles9903 Hopefully, but he seems to into himself unfortunately. talented as he is, his attitude and his lack of self responsibility on his own actions is what causes the clout. He may not start fights but people have uploaded videos of AJ threatening people, as if he is in the mafioso. saying he is connected and he can get 10 guys to take care of his business. thats ghetto hood mentality right there. Considering how he acts and how much he talks about God and his faith, its all a ruse. J.C. probably lost his temper once when they turned the temple into a market place. Trashing the stands. My point is jesus does not teach thats its ok to flip people off, or slap anyone, or to threaten people. Any ways he totally instigated the last situation. I use to follow his IG cause of all the clout he would get in the comment section. But now I see why he has haters.

That was good to hear from AJ. For what its worth, here are my thoughts.
AJ is a thoroughbred athlete. He has a high output motor and that motor revs high most of the time. He is no different than a young Mike Tyson, a young Carter Starocci, or a young Michael Jordon.
If left unmanaged, he will never achieve greatness. He needs strong leadership moving forward. He needs a team to focus all that energy, needs mentoring to be a good adult, and he needs rules to clearly be layed out for him so he knows what is expected of him. He needs training how to handle interviews. He needs training on how to control his temper. He, like other thoroughbreds, needs lots of development.
If you look at Penn State athletes , that’s what they get. I guarantee they would not be the nice professionals that we see with out Cael and his team.
Tom and Terry need to sit him down and layout the rules. What they expect from him and what they will give him in return. Make verbal commitments. They need to develop this young man into his full potential. They have a young thoroughbred ready to mold into something special.
You couldn’t ask for a better scenario. Take him. Embrace him, and give him the leadership he deserves. He will appreciate & respect them more with that approach.

@@amross2112 I am not saying to put AJ in a leadership role. The leaders of that team are Tom and Terry. They are the ones in charge of molding and focusing those young men to achieve their goals. Leadership is a gift. Think of the greats before them. Vince Lombardi, Tom Landry, John Wooden, General Patton, Mike Krzyzewski to name a few. I do believe Tom and Terrry have great leadership skills. I do believe they can take challenging young men and mold them into responsible young men that can compete at an elite level. And lastly I believe AJ should be given a chance to prove himself as an elite & mature athlete. AJ is at a crossroads and his decisions moving forward will be important and under greater scrutiny.

I can completely believe all the stuff they were calling him…and I can also believe that the rest of Iowa is buying his gear 😂 since wrestling is next to godliness in Iowa they only want the best and if he continues to win they will love him. If all 3 brothers are there and they do what we think they can then it will be a good few years for the Hawkeyes

Yea this interview definitely shows his inability to accept his own actions. That's cool that he talks about his faith, but so does the tax collector in the parable of the pharisee and the tax collector. He clearly instigated that past scenario when, after the whistle, he steps towards the head and pushes his opponents head down. To then go and flip the crowd off? considering the rape allegations, the lack of respect for the laws of the road that led to a head on collision (which also shows his lack of concern for others well being), the videos of him threatening people acting like he is a mafioso, etc. Based on his rhetoric in contrast of his actions, he doesnt truly understand the word of God, or Jesus Christ. No where does jesus Christ say its ok to lose control of ones emotions, other than using religion or a religious building as a place for profit. I use to support him due to the clout he would get in high school for his workouts on IG but seeing how he handles himself, Im good until he learns to control his emotions.

I saw how AJ was treated by the fans at the SS and I was appalled. I’m not condoning his actions but if you say horrible things about him and flip him off and swear at him and then get angry by him splitting and flipping you off, you’re a hypocrite. Heck, I still can’t believe how Anthony was treated. He got bad mouthed and he took Caleb mocking him after he lost. A lot of people said he deserved to get mocked after he pushed Rathjen. I guess it’s only ok to retaliate if your last name isn’t Ferrari. Being a lifelong Hawkeye, I’m usually on the same side with the Hawkeye fans. But about 50% of them need their heads examined, they have serious blinders on and I’m not sure why. He was found to be more than just innocent of his accuser accusations; he didn’t even have to go to trial because her fairytale didn’t add up. So for anyone to call him any name other than innocent man is a joke and a worthless person that I hope someday have false allegations levied against them. Hopefully AJ is a Hawkeye soon, I can’t wait to cheer him on. GO HAWKEYE’S

    TO THE HATERS:
he gave the crowd the finger AFTER he was DQ'd, and also, the crowd was hating on AJ all tournament.. imagine caring about the "crowd" when all they do is hate on the guy.. and you expect him to be the bigger person and be nice in return? Get real, buddy. Just admit, YOU personally don't like him. It's amazing how people will be a part of a rough combative sport like wrestling, where there is pushing, shoving, takedowns, heavy hands etc.. but as soon as a light shove after the whistle, you all lose your minds lol.. i find that ironic. You're the type that would be all for boxing matches during a HOCKEY game, where the crowd goes wild and the refs let the punches ensue ... but nope, can't let a single arm swing go in wrestling, an actual combat sport, but hockey? oh yeah! lets get the boxing gloves boys!

    • @jomama969

Being the bigger person is called being an adult. You’re talking about the shoving after the match; yeah, that happens all the time in wrestling. That’s not the end of the world. Doing the splits and double birds to the same crowd that is going to come watch you possibly wrestle at Carver, that’s absolutely childish. You don’t need to be a wise old man to know not to do that to your future home crowd.

The fact that this is a combative sports makes it not ok to push after the whistle. the combatants are already in a combative state. a tiny push will cause a scuffle. With A.J. and his christian rhetoric, he completely missed how Christ acts in the face of persecution. He needs to understand his faith better. Christ felt the same emotions but did not give in to where A.J. did. I hope he learns more about his faith and understand the clout the he has created for himself through his own actions. I watched a video of him acting like he is a mafioso to some wimpy dude that A.J. could totally kill. He tells the guy he is connected and he can get 10 guys to take care of him. It aint about being soft. Its about being a follower of Christ and understanding scripture as well as how J.C. acted in times of persecution. A.J. is vocal about his faith, but actions are louder than words. He should not have flipped off the crowd for it makes him look low class, it would have been best to not react as the crowd is baiting him for a reaction and he took the bait. It aint about being soft. Haters are soft though.

One of the key parts of having an unmatchable faith is realizing that not a single human who has EVER lived is sinless, other than Jesus. Wrestling is a highly emotional sport and while what AJ did isn't correct, we all make mistakes. It isn't up to us to judge or put labels on anyone, that's up to the one and only God. He tells us to forgive one another like He does and have mercy on each other (Matthew 18:21-22). Keep him in your prayers and remember it isn't our place to determine AJ's relationship with God. Everyone has good and bad seasons of their lives and God has a plan for all of us.

@@michaelgibson3240 I agree that no one but Jesus has lived a sinless life. It is up to us to judge righteously. I have made mistakes and continue to make mistakes. I don’t think it’s okay for him to claim he is sorry for what he did on the mat while in the same breath justify what he did because he was being called names by the crowd. Just take full accountability and don’t make excuses. I will continue to pray for AJ. I believe that is important. I just don’t think it’s unfair for me to point out that he exudes narcissistic behavior on and off the mat.

If AJ wasn’t great, nobody would care. When they boo and yell, put your hand to your ear and wave on more. They’ll turn and begin to love yah.

I agree with everything but the last statement. I would say its more christian to be humble than to instigate. He throws his faith around, but thats what Jesus Christ would do instead of instigating the crowd. Even not reacting to the negativity can cause instigation, but it would be from the haters giving into their hatred. For all his "Glory to God" rhetoric, he has a lot to learn about the faith.

He has gotten a lot of respect around town and he gets along with Tom and terry. I think he should stay at iowa but maybe Olympic red shirt this year. Next year he can begin with him and his brothers in the lineup most likely and one hell of a team. Only gap to fill next year will be 33, 41 and 57 (Anthony likely at 57 with Rathjen at 49;unless Kennedy can drop to 57 somehow)

he got baited. Regardless J.C. didnt attack those that persecuted him. He prayed to his father for strength to deal with the persecution and the crucifixion for they know not what they do. A true follower of christ would have have faced such a atmosphere differently. He gave in to his anger, stepped towards grazier's head after the whistle to push on it. He instigated the situation. He is doing what they want instead of doing what the faith teaches. He has a lot to learn about the word of God and J.C.
