it was insane hearing charlotte give her reasoning for not paying the women more but then cutting to her bragging about how they are a billion dollar company with the 2nd biggest stadium in the country with the 2nd biggest halftime show next to the superbowl and can afford to put tvs in the bathroom
OMG that pissed me off so much! And for years people have known that all the NFL cheerleaders don't get paid. Like sorry, passion doesn't pay the bills. Hope these girls start unionizing soon.

I felt bad for Victoria, I can tell DCC was sucking the life out of her. So glad she moved on.

Gotta be honest with ya Reddit has a lot of inside scoop Victoria and her mother Aren’t as sweet as you think they’re bullies on the low especially her mother. She bullied Chanley (I think that’s how you spell her name) a lot behind the scenes And she didn’t leave willingly Like they show Kelli didn’t want her on the team anymore and told her to retire

@@marilyn1984 🤯 Wow, the documentary portrayed her as really struggling and isolated. But I guess thats why people didn’t really gravitate around her because she was a bully. Everyone else seemed to really get along and were friendly.
It looked to me ,her mother was pushing her to do stay on the team. She looked under pressure most of the time. She was sad and depressed.
It was literally making the team 2.0 but they dug a little bit deeper. I’m still mad that they aren’t paid for their worth. Charlotte Jones’ comments regarding a salary for the DCC pissed me off.
It was like the making of making the team. But I agree. I’m like did they realize this was going to be shown in the north as well.
I didn’t like Charlotte telling Kelli they had to only take 36. That should have been Kelli’s decision
@@Coppellgirl agreed. She couldn’t give a valid reason. When Kelli had a very good reason to have 37. It seemed like drama curation and a power move.

Nonetheless, Charlotte is the President of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. She has the ultimate say but she gives Kelli liberty because Kelli is director and with them all the time.
its very cult like.. they pay them like they are jesters not full fledged athletes. they mess up their hips and lower back from doing that jump split so many times in a season.
Terrible… they really could have interviews the brown women more. We was extras smh!

These girls should be making much more an hour. If they can pay millions of dollars to football players, they can afford to pay a $100k a year to each cheerleader.

I thought the way they handled the SA incident was interesting.. It seems like Kelley was surprised the girl wanted to press charges. Then it reminded me about the scene when they talked about “ has a cheerleader ever had a bad experience with a man?” And the answer was “no”.
It's giving cover up. I'm not surprised but I am disappointed that the police dropped it. But like how did that happen in the first place, where was security?

Lol, there were no villains?? Did you watch the show?? Kelly, Charlotte & Judy were the villains!! The way they talked to Victoria & Charlotte telling Kelly how to cut the girl who was 'too short', definitely gave villain to me. I thought the show was cleaner than the reality show, but still exposed the truth behind the scenes & didn't sugarcoat. I enjoyed the show....
Thank you! Charlotte forced Kelly to fire that girl for her height but she wasn’t allowed to give her a reason other than she wasn’t right for the team. They talked about not having any height requirement but literally cut someone because of it. That’s mean girl behavior!
I liked the show way better than Making the Team! I think Netflix exposed the villain who is Nepo Baby Charlotte, but did it in a way that she was down for the entire ride. I don’t think it’s until now that she’s realizing it’s backfiring, for her, NOT the girls. The documentary just made you love and respect those girls even more then you already did ❤

Disagree with the need for villains. Creating reality tv villains has really hurt people’s real lives most of the time unfairly bc of editing. I think the antagonist in this documentary are the challenges like the low pay, the strict diet, the schedules, the sacrifices

I 100% agree that this gave americas next top model vibes! The makeovers, I was SHOCKED! And Kelli and Judy looking at photos of the girls and pulling them over to point out the smallest things. SO toxic.
The Netflix series exposed Charlotte’s true feelings (I bet her daughter makes more than the cheerleaders).
The ‘Daughters of the Sexual Revolution’ documentary exposed Jerry Jones true feelings….and it seems that being in 2024 hasn’t changed their feelings.
I loved this documentary! I watched the original show as well.
It is just crazy that they don’t make more money when EVERYONE else in this organization is making so much more.
I agree! I feel like they should at least be bringing in more income from being on tv for the games and the reality show.

Very much an ah ha moment to realize, Oh they just dont respect women and see them as equal.
Talk about being exploited and under paid!!! Plus the emotional and physical stress, the injuries sustained during and after leaving the team. Their place in the team is not even secure for next season.... I mean, wtf. Visually ,it looks fantastic. Behind the scenes is a horror story.

I was so flabbergasted about all the expectations, not only as underpaid athletes but also the requirement to be social media influences. You mean to tell me that I gotta go to community events and hospitals donating even more time of my already unpaid time to represent the organization?!!!! Hell to the NO. The reacher getting reacher and the poorer getting poorer.
@@yarenismorales8981 and the fact that they can't make money off social media! like if they use them for social media influence, they should be able to take brand deals.
Its such a manipulation tactic to push the whole "Do it for the sisterhood, the legacy"....If that were true then Charlotte, Judy, and Kelli should do it for the same reason. Cut their pay then.

So the good about this documentary: I love how the girls were “sisters “ and stuck together and comforted each other through the stress and the cuts. It made me love fall and football season. I always loved watching the holiday specials and superbowl so that part brought a smile to my face.
The bad: I hated how Kelly and the other lady picked the girls apart who got cut. “Too short, too skinny,you’ve gained weight, not enough makeup, too much makeup, I hate her hair, etc” it honestly triggered me especially the girl that was cut for being too short and how she broke down crying 😢💔 Also it made me uncomfortable watching them try on their DCC uniform. Like they said “it has to fit just right, the boobs have to sit right, you can’t have a muffin top” 😬
The bittersweet part: like you said the older former DCC members showing up just reminds you that nothing lasts forever and we all definitely age God willing. They were so sweet and cute reliving their glory days.
brennen from season 15 when they were in quarantine, and they were cutting veterans, brennen said something like" i see the new direction you are going with with this squad.. and that year most of the veterans being cut were white and most of the replacements were people of color
Please stop assuming things. She could have just as easily meant that she knew they were going with newer dancers, particularly Instagram stars...they had like 3 on the team that were rookies that were IG Famous. Kelli wanted to benefit from that because viewership was down.
I used to like watiching the show but when it hit netflix, seems increasingly toxic! The team mascot & water boy earn a great salary! I wonder how much Kelly/Judy earn?
Enough where they don't have to work two jobs.
I have never been so sad for someone who annoyed me as bad as Victoria.

said perfectly! i think she's annoying because of how she was raised (in the shadow of her mother, always needing meet expectations). i'm so happy for her that she moved to new york and is persuing her dreams instead of her mom's.
I watched the first 15 minutes and it's more than enough for me. When I heard the owner lady saying "Well, they don't make a lot of money but it's the prestige they dance for" or sth along those lines, I knew it was too much for me. Like, I'm from Poland, I don't know much about American football, but even I know that it's a multi-million business where the players make a shit ton of money. Not paying their fellow athletes decent wages is beyond ridiculous. And why would those women want to do this is beyond me as well.
Being an artist and performer is tricky when it comes to pay because it's like we want to do what we love and the people with the money know that we are desperate and vulnerable in a way.
So glad I ran across your channel because we have the some of the same viewpoints. I was a huge fan of Making the Team and was devastated when they cancelled it. This series seemed too polite. If that makes sense. I wanted to hear more of the women's viewpoints on how this affects their health, wage gap, the rules they have to follow, diversity, etc. I feel like they barely even touched on the safety aspect and how there are some real psychos out there! I was so scared for Kelce and Kat!! Because the fact that ppl went to great lengths to find out their address is terrifying!! I was extremely annoyed by Reece. I felt she had no personality. Don't get me wrong having a strong relationship with your higher power is important, but I don't think it should be your entire personality. I think the fact they spent so much time on her was on purpose and they pushed an agenda. I would have liked to hear more about how the girl who's dad committed suicide is doing and how has she been coping, mental health, etc. So much stories they could have showed, but they chose not to. I haven't been seeing positive press on this show, so we shall see if they get a 2nd season. Thanks for your video ❤
They are way more than cheerleaders. They are elite athletes and A level dancers.
Idk why so many people are being so judgemental. And everyone IS late. I was watching their show ten years ago when it came on CMT.

Rowdy (the Cowboy’s mascot) I read somewhere that his salary was $50k to $60k per year…and he only has to work on Sunday. Disgusting. Also I know that the Cowboys have paid out at least $250 million to cheerleaders who found a “peep hole” that looked into where they shower and get dressed.
It doesn't seem a healthy work environment.

I agree they should make more. My only worry is if we push a standard minimum increase, many teams will just forgo having a cheerleading squad altogether. Not every NFL team has a squad.
If you understand Jerry Jones, the owner of the Cowboys, nothing in this documentary should be a surprise- especially the fact the ladies don’t get paid s- - t.

For the stories that they did follow I was thinking, these are the least controversial storylines. And they should be getting paid to be a part of the netflix show.
Yeah, we could’ve done without the boyfriends getting more airtime (talking about their freakin’ jobs) than the actual trainees. 🤷🏼♀️

you said it seems like they reached out to the director but it still didn't paint them in a good light at all 😭 it focused on the girls identity crises which is valid nobody's fault and their intimidation, hardly said anything other than yes ma'am it wasn't like Cheer where they were a team training and it's fine bc it was an audition but still there lacked more of the actual fun of it all and mentorship. it also focused on the dark sides to a degree i think it was a fair insight
It was great to see Victoria.

The old show was just a mess. It was giving camp. Like I don't think I was taking it as seriously as a viewer like I did the Netflix show.
I’m a child of the 70’s….the DCC and everything they were on in the 70’s was must see TV….I loved them on the Love Boat and the DCC movies were the best….Tami (blonde pigtails) and Judy were standouts and always my favorites. 💙

I wish the cheerleaders would join a union and refuse to dance or show up to practice without proper pay. Have them explain to the fans why there are no cheerleaders at the games. That would take proper guts and at huge risk. Honestly these ladies deserve so much more. All the operations they need, the pressure to perform, the amount of time invested FREE to such a huge organisation. So glad most women seem to have a carreer with actual living pay they can fall back on when this falls through.
Do you all know about the vouyerism lawsuit?
I know this tradition inspires young women and offers them an opportunity to dance, but I just feel like it’s for all the wrong reasons. Not only do they not receive great pay (I make more as a customer service worker), but they continue to uphold outdated beauty standards and values. Empowering women is essential, but the higher-ups in this industry left a sour taste in my mouth.
I can’t imagine the mental strain and turmoil these young women face, especially with the amount of pressure they're under. Their experiences, techniques, and knowledge are powerful enough.

Also Victoria looked so focused on the camera. When they were scanning over the girls being talked to, her face was in that biiiig smile all the time. Woman, relax, please. It is OK to be filmed without a smile. And her picking apart her old videos. So sad! Focussing on their looks will damage a person for good if they get in your head.
ok so I am from europe and it is a really unknown world for me, but I got interested into the netflix documentary.
I mean I was shocked when I heard how little, almost none at all they were paid, they still got to work in the meantime... EXUSEME? That is suppost to be their job, themselves said that basically the cowboys company was saved by them, they are the whole reason that company is still up and makes billions, for awful reasons because they are pretty much sexualized, but that's a whole other discussion, and you still don't pay them... oh oh right cause it's a ''privilege'' and an ''honor'', what in the gaslighting cult shit is that? And I appreciate that I found your video talking about it, WHY IS NO ONE ELSE TALKING ABOUT IT? Why is this company not cancelled yet? I am shocked!

I am scared to watch this because I liked the show it isnt perfect and it has challenges but I like the women and the stuff they have to do for this. Also I think they should be paid higher for what they have to do.
I feel like it is easy to watch almost to a fault. It's the things that they aren't saying that can make it triggering.

I wish they were more explicit with the faults of DCC - it definitely felt like DCC paid for this promotional content, although it seems like the director tried to make hints to the exploitation in the edit. But you almost would’ve had to watch the original making the team tv show to catch it

I 1,000% agree that the girls in DCC should be paid more. With all of their appearances, extra performances and brand recognition that they have, they should be making more. HOWEVER I come to it with a unique perspective as I am a seasonal worker/ employee for an NFL Team as well. With that seasonal job, I make minimum wage. Sure, my job is nothing compared to being a DCC but it's still a *seasonal* job. I do this job as a side hustle because I have a genuine passion and love for the work that I do and I think it's fun, but with the long hours I work during football season, I'm glad I get a break every now and then. So to me, it makes sense why the DCC don't get paid more - it's a SEASONAL position. I do think that they should be getting some revenue back from the calendars, other merch and extra appearances/ performances that they do - equating it to an NIL deal - but even though they are a well known squad, people aren't paying specifically to see them (besides the Christmas performances). There is no true consequence to the Cowboys or the NFL if one of them gets hurt and can't perform. They are there as an added game day/ Cowboy experience. They know what they signed up to do. They know what their bodies will be put through. They are willingly choosing to be a DCC. Again, I do think that they should get paid more per/hour and per game and should get compesnaited fairly for their work during the season, but I completely understand why they are not and why the Cowboys feel justified not paying them more.
I understand seasonal work. But the wage/salary should be commensurate with the work performed & skill set required. DCC are not flipping burgers or event staff that direct people to their seats or gate security, cashiers, bartenders, concessions, etc. Minimum wage is appropriate for these jobs. But it’s not OK for a trained athlete who is required to do jump splits, kicks, dance 3-4 hours per game, practice endlessly (just like football players). A DCC’s contract is not seasonal. They work more hours before the season, during the season, and after the season (performances, appearances, USO tours, charity events, kids dance camps, calendar shoots). They should pay them at least $40K per year.
I agree about them getting paid more. At the same time, you are entitled to your own opinion. With that said, your video sucked!
