You guys are heroes. I don't usually comment on youtube videos but by telling the truth about keyword tools you released me from a heavy burden. I always thought I would stepup my game by spending the 70 bucks a month but what you are saying here makes so much sense and offers a beautiful minimalist approach. Thank you!
@@keomaps8891 it has been working very well for me. I don't remember the content of the video but I am using a mix of the alphabet soup method, people also ask, a lifetime license of ubersuggest (which goes cheaper with a vpn and also doesn't create a monthly cost), and a lifetime license of Frase. So I use some tools but 0 monthly cost and I feel like google is still my main keyword research tool.
I just found you guys and every topic I have listened to has top-notch suggestions. From what I have seen you guys are as genuine as any I have seen. What I like about this video I have always been on the premise that I did not like the idea of buying memberships for Research tools, so to say that they are a waste of time and money. I have also liked the idea of not buying advertising and focusing on the idea of SEO. I have also liked the idea of using your own content to link to other articles instead of taking readers away from your content, so make sure you inter-link your content. Just want to say you guys rock :-)
This is probably one of the most important videos you guys have posted, because this is where it starts. Choosing the right niche 'off the bat' I wish I could share my killer domain with you guys privately - which I bought in 2001 and would be impossible to buy today!
This is so brilliant. I have never used a keyword tool, but I have been looking to revamp my keywords this year. Thanks for saving me both time and money.
Wow! This is just a RAW truth. I've done quite a lot of research on KW research but never seen it as raw as you guys suggested. Yes, there may be other paths that leads to the stream but assuredly, this is one very good shortcut tactic! You rock!
Appreciate Video! Sorry for butting in, I would love your opinion. Have you heard about - Riddleagan Blossoming Solo Remedy (probably on Google)? It is a great one of a kind product for mastering guitar scales without the hard work. Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my mate after a lifetime of fighting got great results with it.
Hey guys thanks for your awesome content. I watch all of your videos. Just wanted to say that I have a travel blog covering carry on travel gear, and wrote an article using this exact method for "beard trimmer carry on" keyword. I am currently ranking on the first page and have the snippet position! Also the keyword "carry on board beard trimmer" ranking #1. So thanks for your continued help. For anyone watching this video, do exactly what they are teaching here and watch your keywords rank!
I don't know you guys personally or why didn't I stumble across this content before but after days n days of looking at keyword research tools, competitive analysis, SEOs, etc I have come to the conclusion that keywords may give you an idea but it is going to be your content that is gonna drive home the traffic. As an experiment I watched a random dude saying how to make money online by posting rain music videos and I did that but zero views since three days last uploaded. So am gonna go with your advice and keep making content that is meaningful and what gives value and let us leave it at that. Thank you.
Man, this might be old video but its still very relevant. I mean keyword reaserch tools usually all they do is save you some time doing everything manually yourself. But as stated in this video, you should always double check the information that you get from these keyword research tool because they are not always correct.
I’ve recently came across your channel, and I’m happy I did. I’m currently building a micro niche Wix website. I’ve been saving everything in draft, and will be planning to purchase a domain and publish it in the near future. Trying to use free trials for keyword research has been a pain, and I questioned if they truly provide any value. Thank you for making my decision easier. I’m looking forward to when I finally cast my niche to the public. Thank you for sharing your content. It’s refreshing and appreciated.
I recognized this quick. I opened a brand new channel here on youtube. And I've been search for every keywords I can try to rank against. I found that the ones the tools rank low actually gives me the highest results. And the ones they rank highest gives me less results. So I've come up with a method where I balance it out. I use keywords from both sides of the spectrum. I search for the lowest and add those and use the highest as well. And it has been paying off for me. So I use 3 tools but I take them only to get a consensus on the keywords and get an avg based on the tools. Then I use google trends and the search prediction within youtube to further hone in on what's actually being searched over what a tool tells me to use. This is good stuff.
Do you guys have an update on this video? I have been using the free Keywords Everywhere tool and it just became paid. Your tips are helpful, make a lot of sense, but I would like to know my search volume etc... any free tool you can suggest?
Im so glad you shared this info with me. I was thinking about one of those tools. I had no idea looking up keywords was as easy as using Google. Thank you Jim and Ricky!
YOU GUYS ARE REAL ANGELS! I've unsubscribed from most of the channels in your niche and now I have only your channel. PURE GOLD. Thank you very much and I'm waiting for more info products from you guys. Income School is the Sh!T :)
This video is 4years old but still golden. After watching it I was able to come up with 31 content topics with tens of sub-topic under each topic and the amazing thing is that these topics are very relevant to my target audience and less. competitive. Your guys are just so great💯💯
Hello! I was researching this subject and ended up quite confused. Your approach to this was just lovely, I really needed to hear that. Thank you very much for an excellent review! All the best /Rolf
I like the idea of going through Google to find new keywords (ie. beard trimmer a, beard trimmer b, etc). Perhaps I missed it but how do Ricky and Jim then double check to see how competitive those keywords are beyond just Googling the keywords and seeing how many results already exist?
After you show the results from the niche keyword space a.... You then look at the listing. Who's ranking first. That would be the highest authority domain on the topic hard to outrank yeah, but focus on positions 2 ..3 and so on. If you notice no defined sites other than Yahoo answers, Quora, and stuff those aren't really sites dedicated to the search query, meaning that if you wrote a compelling article of 2500 words which he also mentions, you might just be able to rank high in these positions. Also from what I have researched, don't spam your keyword to oblivion google hates that but do make sure it's on the title, it's in the first paragraph and use it across your article where it matters. I do believe this strategy works for UA-cam as well, buuut that's a whole nother game hahaha I hope this helped.❤
I have thought this exact thing about using the Google suggestion, I mean for real the auto suggest, looking at the ads, and what is in the knowledge graph there is a wealth of info on keywords. Good job.
Seriously awesome video guys, always great stuff! Could you please make a video going more in depth on how you determine the competition a niche has and if its worth entering? The method you mentioned in this video of looking at the authority of the google results (TSA vs Quora) is a good start, but there's more to it. For example, if only 1 blog post comes up in a google search for a keyword, does that mean you've found a great niche, or no one searches for it? There has to be a way to estimate actual search volume as well as authority. Thanks!
Thanks for confirming this method works - I actually kinda figured this out on my own and made a huge Google sheet worth of these searches in ABC order
This is an old trick with the Google autosuggest, but a proper KW tool is crucial for a very big website, when you're trying to really scale it. You can't autosuggest thousands of keywords. But for beginners and small niche sties, it's a great idea.
Ah, finally, a less complicated solution. Thanks, guys! I still have one question though. Why do all keyword videos focus on businesses? I am starting a magazine for writers and poets and I don't know how keywords come into that. How do I add keywords in a poem?
I know what you mean. I have a gratitude blog. I post each day about what I am grateful for that day. While I could look up trending keywords and do a gratitude post about those, that would seem very artificial to me. I think sites like yours and mine have to come from the heart. (I still watch videos like this though as every now and then they will mention something that helps to make my blog more user friendly.)
Ambreen Ejaz I think the keywords relate to tutorials that teach people how to write poetry and prose. That’s how you can get more people to know you easily for free and then as they learn from you they will want to check out your poetry.
Using Google Suggest is a good idea. The feature is also available at the bottom of every search results page. This tends to be a great tool to use for finding sub-topics for your article or webpage. One last point - using Google Keyword Planner is critical for justifying whether or not a keyword strategy is worth pursuing large SEO campaigns. Most people like to see some evidence as to whether or not your strategy will work. The worst case scenario is the projections are lower than the actual results, which is fine. So, even if you want to use Google Suggest to find keywords, I would still plug them into Keyword Planner to create a basic benchmark.
You're right about keyword tools. If I go to SEO books free keyword tool and add a keyword or phrase, and then go to Ubbersugest and add the same keywords you'll get totally different results. Not always, but a lot of the time. So I've been very skeptical of these keyword results. Anyway, great video guys, sure do appreciate it.
This has been a heavily talked about topic in the group. If you have any knowledge in regards to how to rank on Google, naturally, this will be one of the first things you will begin to wonder about when starting up a blog. Thanks for clearing this up for us, guys.
As simple as it sounds, this is actually brilliant idea! Although I wasn't thinking about creating a website or blog, these tips might just do the trick for building other online presence. Thank you for the video! I might try to implement it some other ways. Don't know why it took 5 years for UA-cam to recommend me this :(
Hey wassup? So would you care to elaborate on that comment. I'm interested to hear because your comment could mean so many things . So what were you thing when you wrote that. Thanks for taking the time to read this
Thanks for the helpful and sensible advice! Are the techniques you discuss in this video still relevant/useful in 2020? This video is more than 4 years old.
Interesting approach I have always heard people talk about niches in relation to your product or blog site idea but using the same approach for blog posts is genuis.
Also, keyword research sites show a lot of things that you can't see just by scanning yourself (you can manually search each site I guess)... DR and backlinks being the two biggest ones. If you see that the top 6 sites ranking for the keyword all have 70+ DR rankings and 60+ BLs each, you aren't going to scratch the surface of that with a new blog. This method though might suggest you could.
How will a new website outperform forum sites just by its article length/quality ? I mean the forums would obviously have a Page Authority/Domain Authority greater than the newer site. PLEASE EXPLAIN
you took a subscription from deep down of my heart!🥰😍 EXTREME LEVEL of Value and Helpful Information! Thankyou guys, you both are awesome! and do deserve a million likes!😊😎
I would watch a daily video of Ricky and Jim looking up A- B- C- search suggestions for random niches and getting giddy about the results. Is there a pay per view channel of that?
Hey,@@ClockworkSkateTeam! I'm still in the creating content phase. 10 articles up which means I have a minimum of 20 more to go. Then about 9 months for that content to simmer in Google's crockpot before I'll begin to see results - provided I've done my search analysis and content writing properly. I will say that the keyword research method they outline here is better than the tools.
Thanks for the info but what about spending a lot of time on High Competition keywords without any tool . I don't know what to do with keyword research when matrices of all tools are different from one another. please advice.
About your example of beard trimmer carry-ons. How would you know if that would be a good niche for the site to be about if you really don’t know if ppl are really searching for that?
Thanks for the advice, subscribed, and looking forward to watching more videos. FYI we sell grass-finished meat online, we would love to hear your thoughts on that topic in a video!
Love the video this is great thanks guys, just getting started with my site, and hopefully channel, went to the site though no more links to the consultations have they stopped running? Thanks
Thanks guys, be great if you could make another video sharing your screen. Using Google Search Suggestions "Beard Trimmer C.." etc is a great way to find ideas, I call it the "Alphabet Soup Technique" *We can outrank Yahoo answers etc for long-tailed keywords that people are ACTUALLY searching for. *Outwrite the small articles and *be aware of the big authority websites (hard to outrank them) *Pricepoint, that's another great consideration. Great advice, thank you
It just makes sense bro. I can use this technique to create blog posts for my video ad/ videomarketing website. Im curious though. Even if I did go on a random search like you guys did. What would I do with what I found, create 1 blog post or create an ecommerce store to sell that particular item or an array of them?
Here’s an interesting question for you. The video attracted me because all the keyword tools are expensive, and a lot are inaccurate or confusing. The title attracted me, but the video didn’t help me a lot. I did learn how to find keyword ideas quickly, but still not sure how to check if they have the right stats to work. I already have a website. I have some potential keywords for it. There are several articles I need to rewrite to make them powerful search engine and user-friendly. No problem if I can find effective keywords first. My website is all about Communication, and a prospective keyword is Understanding Your Communication. Example titles: Understanding Your Communication - Being a Perfectionist, or Understanding Your Communication - Listening Skills, or Understanding Your Communication - What Type of Leader Are You? Now if I do this, it means the articles all have the same keyword Understanding Your Communication. I have Yoast, which allows me to tailor specific keyword synonyms for each article. Is this feasible? Will it be a problem for Google if my articles all have the same keyword?
As far as I'm concerned your pages with the same keywords or long tail keywords or whatever can "eat" each other. BUT I'm really not sure to be honest with you. I'm still learning all of those methods and laws of SEO. You should definitely check articles about it (I'm sure you'll find some if you haven't already) or speak with someone who is really good at this. Cheers.
How should we find search terms where primary keyword, "beard trimmer" in the example you have taken appears later in the search term. For example "best beard trimmer for thick beard". How do I come up with such search terms?
Hi, have you ever seen a keyword tool (specifically sem rush or ahrefs) OVER Estimate traffic? I say this because if they only underestimate traffic, the tool would still be useful for finding some opportunities
Ok but what if you have a keyword that dont need 2500 words like for instance how to make scrambelled egg for example does not need that amount of words and would proberly only need around 400 words what then?
I don’t understand how you would get back links to my website. Would i buy a high ranking domain and then just put a “follow URL” from that website to my own somewhere on the page?
Hi Guys, What's your advice on using the same keyword for multiple posts? I have a ton of content for a topic in a specific niche. Rather than using keyword variations of the seed keyword, I'm opting to use the seed keyword for 7 posts. Is this something that would affect a website domain authority? Thanks
I agree.. Sometimes I spy on competitors to get their keywords and I find huge difference between their data and Google data. Here is what I do: I get keywords list and upload them Google Keyword Planner to have a clear idea.
Amaaaaazing info, glad I bumped into it! One question though, this method works IF you are trying to find a new niche around which to build a website, but what happens when you already have a niche and you want to find the best keywords to reach your customers? Any thoughts?
I still use a couple of metrics for picking keywords, because the metrics are there when I search for the keywords so I might as well use them. But the actual research is done when you search for the ACTUAL keyword in google and go to the top 10 pages and look at what they're doing and then you come up with ideas and ways to improve on them.
Every single SEO "expert" I know still use keyword search tools. This is the simplest way I have ever heard...and makes perfect sense. Why re-invent the wheel, when Google basically does all the heavy lifting for you.
Hi, I have a question. When I use google engine to figure out popular keywords, the recommended searches are affected by my history and past searches. How do I avoid this?
Great video! Do you guys know if there is any way to tap into a database of Google Search suggestions? It seems like their Keyword planning tool sources the words differently...
I have an Etsy shop and need keywords for my listings what do I do for that? For instance I sell Qr code invites and games. One of my scavenger hunts was a patriotic Qr scavenger hunt. How do I do this?
Do you believe them f***** Do you believe no one's search for "jet ski" how is that, ok take it by logic if no one's search for it then no one's search for the boats, bicycle, also, motorcycle. jet ski is used by millions of people on the beach, Then you say no one's search for it on google. no one's search for jet ski in the country that hasn't beaches. I don't believe you.....
I am starting a website targeting a topic, the same will be my domain name and keyword. My site is in two languages. English and german. Should I start two websites in each language or the one website in two languages? Which approach is better with the rankings perspective?I will appreciate if you guide. Thanks
There are some conflicting advice's here. Most keyword research tools use either BING or Google as a source. If you go directly to Google Keyword planner they will give numbers as how many times that keyword is searched for, trends for that keyword etc. The same information is used for Google trends. You suggested not to use any keyword research tool (all based on google or bing data) but then you recommend using "keywords everywhere" which, no surprise there, is keyword research tool. TO clarify my question, when you say do not use keyword research tool, does that includes google keyword planner? If so, why do you believe that pure guess is better than data approach with info provided by google? Do you believe that google does poor job in gathering info on who is searching what on their search engine, or they are purposely throwing random numbers in their keyword tool?
He is basically telling it to the newbies who have a new website, those top-notch keywords most people search for and websites that are ranked on are for those websites that are already old enough and have tons of blog posts and a good ranking reputation. If you are a newbie this is the best way to get started instead of spending and wasting lots of money on keyword research tools platforms.
Great video and using the search autofill is a good method (although incomplete) but I have to disagree on cancelling keyword research tools entirely. I use AHrefs primarily and it has helped me find blog topics that drive traffic and get sales for me. Some of them aren't accurate, not even Ahrefs 100% of the time, but it's the best by far and just a general accuracy is helpful. Worst case scenario, you write a post that doesn't rank, an inevitability no matter what method you're using.
Awesome tip. but is this tip "in order to start a niche and have rankings as a beginner go after low competition keywords and niches" applies now in 2019 for new youtube channels that are build for affiliate purposes??? Thanks a alot!
All the dislikes are from moz and ahrefs team members lol
I just did the search and two years later it's still wide open. You guys are geniuses

Use google trends and compare a keyword to a keyword of which you know how much traffic it gets.
Works great and the data comes from google itself.
people still don't understand that google trends doesn't show traffic, just trends...
@@sherr1306 lol Newbie 😂

How about Keyword Difficulty measure ? How we can judge without a tool ?

Also, keyword research sites show a lot of things that you can't see just by scanning yourself (you can manually search each site I guess)... DR and backlinks being the two biggest ones. If you see that the top 6 sites ranking for the keyword all have 70+ DR rankings and 60+ BLs each, you aren't going to scratch the surface of that with a new blog. This method though might suggest you could.
Finally, something that makes sense on keywords and have often thought about along similar lines.
This is an old video. Does this apply in 2022?
Great video. Is this still the most relevant method you recommend for keyword research?
I stopped renting tool. Just because of you thanks. Love #india 🇮🇳
How is it going?
How will a new website outperform forum sites just by its article length/quality ? I mean the forums would obviously have a Page Authority/Domain Authority greater than the newer site. PLEASE EXPLAIN
Write on niche of a niche. Something barely written about.
you took a subscription from deep down of my heart!🥰😍 EXTREME LEVEL of Value and Helpful Information!
Thankyou guys, you both are awesome! and do deserve a million likes!😊😎
What do you think about using the ahrefs keyword research tool? Mainly for PPC traffic.
Why does your contradict with most of what we read about watch about digital marketing?
I would watch a daily video of Ricky and Jim looking up A- B- C- search suggestions for random niches and getting giddy about the results. Is there a pay per view channel of that?
What tool would you recommend for finding keywords for eBay sellers?
Guys - old video but outstanding and helpful advice. Cheers. When I make my first £1 I'll let you know. Paul (Scotland UK)
Would you use the same approach for videos? Am I better using google search bar to get keyword ideas when doing that or using the youtube search bar?
NO. KEYWORD TOOLS DO WORK
Amazing info here! I've used multiple keyword tools with hit-n-miss results. I'll be using this method next!
How has this been working for you? Have you noticed a significant increase in traffic since implementing this method?
Hey,@@ClockworkSkateTeam! I'm still in the creating content phase. 10 articles up which means I have a minimum of 20 more to go. Then about 9 months for that content to simmer in Google's crockpot before I'll begin to see results - provided I've done my search analysis and content writing properly. I will say that the keyword research method they outline here is better than the tools.
@@PatrickSipperly thanks for the super quick reply!
Genius! This method has given me more ideas than anything else! Thanks
Love the video this is great thanks guys, just getting started with my site, and hopefully channel, went to the site though no more links to the consultations have they stopped running? Thanks
Thanks guys, be great if you could make another video sharing your screen. Using Google Search Suggestions "Beard Trimmer C.." etc is a great way to find ideas, I call it the "Alphabet Soup Technique"
*We can outrank Yahoo answers etc for long-tailed keywords that people are ACTUALLY searching for.
*Outwrite the small articles and
*be aware of the big authority websites (hard to outrank them)
*Pricepoint, that's another great consideration.
Great advice, thank you
Guys, thank you...this was extremely helpful!
Would you say that the keyword tools like Surfer SEO for example are better now with their use of NLP and ai 6 years after tyou released this video?
Cheers.
Thank god I found this video. I was making myself crazy with this keyword research crap and getting nowhere.
hi, question please. if my tags are in the product url/title, do I have to add these in the tag area? thank you, sara
This is awesome advice! Thank you so much for sharing this info
So from where I can collect the Keywords??
Great video! Just starting out all the info overload can be overwhelming. This is a K.I.S.S. method that makes a lot of sense.
Every single SEO "expert" I know still use keyword search tools. This is the simplest way I have ever heard...and makes perfect sense. Why re-invent the wheel, when Google basically does all the heavy lifting for you.
new subscriber. Your content is very help for beginners and small websites.
What do you think about Google keyword planner?
I have an Etsy shop and need keywords for my listings what do I do for that? For instance I sell Qr code invites and games. One of my scavenger hunts was a patriotic Qr scavenger hunt. How do I do this?
very fantastic idea, i understand partially, but you should show the screen for proper understanding with examples :)
Do you believe them f*****
Do you believe no one's search for "jet ski" how is that, ok take it by logic if no one's search for it then no one's search for the boats, bicycle, also, motorcycle. jet ski is used by millions of people on the beach, Then you say no one's search for it on google. no one's search for jet ski in the country that hasn't beaches. I don't believe you.....
They said they were having trouble with that capability
@@lahcenabi906 stop hating on LEGIT GUYS
These guys even say to us "Don't use Yaost SEO" which is the worst advise.
Interesting video. Could hv been better if you could hv shown the examples of searches on youd laptop screen.
how does this apply to affiliate marketing?
Awesome tip. but is this tip "in order to start a niche and have rankings as a beginner go after low competition keywords and niches" applies now in 2019 for new youtube channels that are build for affiliate purposes??? Thanks a alot!
Are you guys using Internet Explorer? (monitor on the back)
How do I find long tail Keywords to use?
great content guys glad i found you
Hey guys! I am just starting off with SEO and stuff and you guys make it so interesting. Thanks so much!
so what if you have a online shop that doesn't have a blog, i.e. not sure how my client would write article about birthday cards?
