Such an underated band, I always loved their music in the charts and their albums too when I was growing up. The lyrics would have me crying one minute and laughing the next. How Dare You” is definitely worth a listen.
What a sheer delight! After a few plays, this song gets better and better and seems cleverer and cleverer :) Extremely talented English 1970's Band. They had 2 distinct writing teams in the 4 members and, yes, sometimes there was artistic tension which eventually made them split with Godley/Creme specializing in Music Videos like CRY........a good song and amazing video where endless faces individually replace each other. A very clever technique so a White Guy becomes Black becomes old becomes a Woman etc. Like The Beatles, nearly every song is different from each other. ONE Night In Paris :) Great Reaction!
Yup, I'm with Josh. This is how you do a long song. 10cc at their best are awesome musically and this is one of their best but I also love that they're eccentric and seem to have a real sense of humour about it that separates them from the more pretentious art and prog rock out there. Plus, they really know how to do killer short pop songs (have you guys heard the Dean and I?) as well as these more extended art-rock compositions.
10cc where the gorillaz of their time
We'll have to do 'Sheet Music' which came out the year before and is really the predecessor to Une Nuit a Paris and I'm Not in Love as there's much experimentation and killer songs on it. I remember when i first bought this album, put the needle on the first track and was blown away. Love 10cc and it's too bad we only got 4 years of them all together. They were masters in the studio and it really helped that they had their own studio, Strawberry Studios (North) in Stockport and Strawberry Studios (South) in Dorking (named after Strawberry Fields Forever), with most of their records engineered by Eric Stewart. Thx again guys, great job!
One of the songs that got me hooked on 10cc. If you liked this one I'm sure you'll like more.
I only discovered this 3 months ago. I cannot stop listening. Love it so much. Great to see your reactions to it. Such a discovery eh?!
I never heard this song from 10cc. Wow, this sounds like an epic. It is interesting that this song was before the famous Queen song. This song sounds like it could have been used as move scene music. There is a lot of instrumentation. Shawn and Trey, you both analyzed this really well considering it is a hard song to figure out. You both gave this a rating pf 7.5. I would have to rate it a 7.0, but only because it was weird and different. You guys had fun on this video and I had fun watching. Cool stuff.
What a masterpiece. Four amazing musicians.
Totally 9.5 for me! This is what that Traffic tune lacked. There were so many shifts and surprises that you wouldn’t think it was a longer track. I’m glad that there’s a 10cc album coming up in the book of 1001 albums. Ps, not knocking Traffic. I listened to a great album of theirs from the book and saved it in my library on Spotify.
Thank you so much for doing this song! 10cc is in a class by themselves. My favorite album happens to be 'How Dare You'. The big hits off that were 'Don't Hang Up' and 'Art for Art's Sake'.
Great song to fit into a movie.
Fantastic album from a super talented band
This is one of my favourite tracks from 10cc, so quirky. The "piano pounding" section late in part 2 (which inspired the famous Phantom of the Opera theme) is probably the bit I replay most. I'd definitely recommend giving their arty "Somewhere In Hollywood" a whirl from their album "Sheet Music" for a similar story telling song.
Diggin deep into the crates. I still have this on vinyl and 8-track. Great album. Nice pick guys.
Great video guys. I adore the two albums The Original Soundtrack and How Dare You? I think the closest to this sort of sound more recently is The Feeling.
Io ci sono stata.... É la CITTÀ PIÙ BELLA DEL MONDO.... IO CI HO LASCIATO..... IL CUORE❤...
Bought Original Soundtrack upon release...it knocked my socks off..BRILLIANT
That piano intro is amazing
Thanks for doing this! Awesome song!
