What a spooky movie. Fun for Halloween. It was released 20 years ago when I was 13. The truth came out; Elizabeth did not kill herself with poison in her drink, the butler Ramsley did. He told Master Edward Gracey lies all those centuries. His grandson was in love with Elizabeth who was a servant girl in the mansion. She was so very young and so very beautiful until she was murdered, poisoned by the hands of the traitorous butler. And now Master Edward was broke, dead and cursed. So sad and heartbroken. People of the haunted mansion was cursed when they died and could not find the heavenly light, so they were trapped in the graveyard. Grinning ghosts. All lost hope until Jim Evers and his family came to reveal the truth and set them free. After centuries of being trapped, the devil's curse was broken. And Ramsely was defeated by getting dragged into the fiery depths of Hell with the devil: The monster deserved it for his sins. Thanks to the Evers Family, Edward and his beloved Elizabeth were reunited and lived in the afterlife, along with their people. A happy ending for them all.
Kinda ironic how Ramsley didn't want Gracey 'throwing his life away' to be with Elizabeth, but by killing her he causes Gracey to anyway when he hangs himself.
*To be honest, I was always way more interested in Lord Gracey's and Elizabeth's tragic love story than the overall movie itself. I really wish that the movie had taken a more serious tone like, "Pirates of the Caribbean" and focused on the origin of the Haunted Mansion rather than making it a lackluster comedy.* The 2023 version was a disappointment as well. 😮💨
Moron believed that if Gracey chose to be with Elizabeth, he would recklessly give up everything he had, simply to be with her. Ramsley emphasized how Gracey seemed to possess everything that he was given.

Men may do many *stupid* things just for love, don't we?
I Love this introduction ( best part of the film 😅).

This movie is campy as heck, but it does have some legitimately good scenes.
Let Me Know If You Believe In Spirits And Ghosts And Skeletons And Vampires
Does anybody know when Elizabeth died and Master Gracey took his own life?
My best guess has to be somewhere from the 1800s but that's just a guess
Stuff the remake of next year. This is the haunted mansion I grew up with.
Why did rasmely kill Elizabeth
