There is something magical about the tone of a Strat when you play the 12th/14th fret on the neck pickup. I just can't get enough of it.
It’s between neck and middle pickup(5 way switch). That’s why Stevie Ray didn’t use much of Telecasters, Les Pauls or 70s Strats. All of them were usually 3 way switch guitars.

@Wilhelm Strasse Well, he's using a Line6 Helix, which probably has some of the best and accurate tones you can get. But SRV used a blackface vibratone, super reverbs, a TS9 with a modded TS808 chip in it. Seems this guy has the majority of the tone in his fingers!

It's all about the hand picking. Often goes unnoticed, but that was one of Stevie's rhythm secrets. He dug into the strings like no other. Excellent cover man.

@@luise8701 Agreed + Stevie Ray Vaughan use Eb Tuning because the slightly looser strings make it possible to do big bends even with very thick strings. At one time the nutcase was even playing 17s...

Great cover. The only thing I'd say is lacking is SRV's abrasive brashness in treating the guitar. He truly abused it, in a good way.
He had to with .013 strings.

funny, chord wise, its hard to tell the difference, but each persons uniqueness comes with lead work. You can tell this isnt SRV playing lead, but I really like this guys lead work for its own merits.
