XHDATA D-219: Now Even Better (for us in North America)

- A look at the new, North American version of XHDATA's outstanding D-219 AM/FM/SW receiver. Already a budget powerhouse on FM and shortwave, the change from 9kz to 10khz tuning on AM (medium wave) means--for those of us in North America--that this radio now shines on AM, too!
Purchase it for (about) $13, shipped from the US, and get this fine radio in a few days.
Note: the red background used here I usually reserve for pencil or book reviews; I generally avoid it for radios. I do so because the red background is todderbert's signature look ("Radio Waves" on UA-cam) and I don't wish to disrespect him, as I consider his videos the Gold Standard in radio reviews.
Purchase here:

(The price seems to have recently increased a bit, but it's still under $15.)

It still amazes me they can make something that small and so cheap, and have it work as well as it does. Just ordered one 15% off ...so under $10...As always thanks for sharing..take care
Very helpful. I was avoiding this radio because of my love of AM and it only being 9 step. Thanks to your confirming you can get 10 step now, I immediately ordered this new legend of a radio. I chose silver. Thank you!
Awesome little radio. Sounds great, good reception. Love mine so much I got two more.
For value for money this has to be the best radio money can buy I bought one for my 77year old dad and for my friend and hav bought another I was out fishing couple weeks ago and I threw 15ft of wire up a tree and was picking up an Australian station on sw and I'm in Ireland fantastic little bit of kit .
Picking up Oz from Ireland?! That had to be the best catch of the day!
I agree with your assessment: for the money, there's none better.
@@ma-mo would you say this is better than the d-328 in catching signals?
@@tipputv6977 sadly I do not own a D-328, so I cannot answer. Perhaps someone else can comment?
I hope someone can answer that eventually. I have a D- 328 so I have been holding off on this one.
@@mtc4him201 I own bought but I can't say its better I use them mostly when out fishing for shorwave stations the D-328 has more features but if that's what you want then could be worth the investment but bought are super reasonable and worth the money ..
Merry Christmas have a good one 🎄🎄
Thank you! Merry Christmas to you, as well!
Hi I have an AIWA made in Japan pocket radio and it has AM/FM / SW 11 bands. It is analogie and it's anetanna is half the size 9f the XHDATA .I have a Tecsun R 2019 and XHDATAwhich you have showcased. My AIWA is 20 years old and outperforms bot my Tecsun and XHDATA.
Sounds like an outstanding radio!
And it does not even require that external wire antenna ,,, its own telescopic antenna is good enough to receive all the SW transmissions. I am 58 years old and have always been a radio buff and have manyvradios . My oldest radio is a 4 band MW ( AM) / SW1/ SW2/ SW3/SW4 with fine tuning, volume AND TONE controlling knobs. It has a DIN female socket for playing ceramic cartridge record players and also tape recorders. My late Dad bought this radio in the year 1975 and it still is alive !!!. Back in the days we never used those wired external antennas . Am from India.
@@niladrimukherjee2098 I have one (1) Indian radio in my small collection: the infamous 5 Core. I hope to show that on my channel soon.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@ma-mo you know factory which manifactyres that Core radio is located around 20 kms away from my house but they do notvsell it to Indians as the 9nly export this radio to foreign lands.
To sum up my AIWA is a mighty Lil monster . I think in American English it will be called a Bad Ass or to be precise A mighty Lil Bad Ass ? 😀
It's the one oh pitch and the xhdata north america is up to bat. And it hits it out of the park!!!!!!
I feel like baseball might be the thing that keeps AM radio on life support, eventually.
Gave away 2 rigs w/note book/ pill box w batteries/ and a home made antenna/gator clip. I made 2 swl ops over night. Looking foreward to getting some 10 khz rigs tks odn-1
I have the Chinese version and it works magnificently on AM here in New York City. It actually seems to be more sensitive than my much more expensive sets. It is an absolute must at that price if you enjoy radio.
Agreed. Thanks, Mark.
How long does the battery last? I wish it had the 18650 battery. What if i put in non rechargeable aa battery and switch on the charging? Thanks
@MM-sj7fs
Just want to share, it looks like XHdata made some change on the 5V power port. Mine d219 10Khz US version 5V DC port is positive inside, negative outside. It's in reverse compared to the one in the video.
Seems like a dangerous thing to be switching back and forth without clear labeling! Thanks!
Are you attempting an ASMR quality to your voice in this video?
Sadly, that's just the way I speak. That's my default setting.
Jus ordered one off Amazon hope its the newer version.
I would hope Amazon US would be selling only the US market, 10k version. Hopefully so!
Make sure the one you receive has AM up 1710 instead of only 1620. That's a dead giveaway!
That's helpful info, fiendishthingy. Thanks!
I am steering away from the Chinese designed radios especially after my last purchase of a Degen DE28. It crashes and also went to the Chinese default like yours did. I was able to get it back to English by lucky trial and error. I can give you the keystrokes to get it back if you have not already been able to do so already.
I figured it out too. But I neglected to record what I did. Maybe your directions could be useful to me, or someone else, in the future?
Thanks!
Unfortunately my 219 doesn't working the radio idk why, the on led lights but the speaker and headphones just static but the antenna makes sounds if i touch it, but its strange because when i pass the bands i can't hear the normal sound of the frequency change. Why no fm no sw
XHDATA has been quick to respond when I've emailed them with issues. Worth a try.
Lol @ “coffee maker” 😂
WHAT IS THE LIFE OF THIS RADIO IF WE PLAY CONTINUSALY , I AM NOT TOKING ABOUT BATTRY JUST RADIO
My wife listens to hers 8 hours a day, every day, for almost three years now. And it still works fine.
Does that help?
Edit: oops, sorry. I thought this was a different radio (Retekess v115). Very sorry, but I haven't owned this XHDATA radio long enough to answer.
My apologies for the confusion.
@@ma-mo thank you🙏
A bfo as a kit ...tentec vbfo. Works well.
