I've been using it a lot for more than a year, the results aren't great, the paper and cartriges are expensive, and the last update of the ios app made me put it in a drawer with no regret whatsoever. This printer sucks for anything even remotely beyond printing small pictures for its own sake. The layers aren't perfectly aligned giving a displeasing fuzzy look to the prints, colors are either dull or off, same for contrast. Pure e-waste imho.
Just got this printer last week, and I am having a blast with it. Photo print really quickly, that last pass put a coating on the print that protects it and leaves the ink dry to the touch instantly.
This looks awesome. I print my photos for the reason you say, namely, the experience of a graphic photo is a lot different than on a screen. I see flaws in the photos that I didn't see before, or I see good things. It's very helpful to give you feedback on what your images actually look like.
I’m glad to see a user replaceable battery. We have one of their small Ivy printers and it’s E-waste since the battery is dead and it’s soldered in. I can’t even use it plugged in.
I was considering this during black friday. Nearly bought one til I saw the size. I definitely will be getting one this year, but I want to see a 2025 refresh. Not something I need now so I can wait.
i remember watching street photography from Pierre T. Lambert and he used the Canon Ivy printer when he was in Asia. it's much smaller and he synced the photos to his phone, then printed them from there and gave small prints to people he photographed.
It's a great product for sure! Almost bought one myself but found that Walgreens prints are pretty good and affordable. So I went that route instead. Same day pickup too. Personally, I don't print that often. Still very cool.
I had an earlier version of one of these and I love the pictures from it. It died young but I'd buy another one because printing with a regular printer sucks so bad it sends me to the drug store to do it with theirs.
Just because you said it only prints 4x6: You can buy a creative Kit with a special cartridge for Instax Mini sized paper or square stickers or mini stickers aswell. Of course not really relevant for photographers but the credit card sized ones are fun to print and because of Instax there are a lot of photo albums that take that size.
Hey Chris, Does your printer produce a 1-pixel-wide line running the entire length of the photo, approximately 1 cm from the top perforations? I've owned two of these printers, and both have had this issue. There are tons of reviews online mentioning it, but I’ve been surprised that no UA-camr has ever pointed it out. Just curious if you’ve noticed the same thing!
@@chrisbrockhurst canon did an update to their prograf 1100 or something like that to do much longer prints - it would be sweet if they could effectively do the same thing here. Then just create a new length of paper that could still be fed through the printer but twice as long
Yo. Love your content. Prolly buying this printer because of this video. We Americans go month/day/year because that's actually how you say it out loud. What's today's date? January 31, 2025, or 01/31/2025.
Gotta play the title game unfortunately, no sense in making a video then failing the marketing on it. Thanks for watching though, definitely try it out. It’s everything I make it out to be
@@chrisbrockhurst 🖖yeah totally, i mean if there is no view there is no point in making a good video anyway, at least if you have views you can voice your opinions
Don’t wast your money on this one. Buy the Liene 4x6 printer. The battery for this canon set up is outrageously priced and is hard to find. The Liene battery comes built in. My friend purchased this Selphy and I purchased the Liene. Liene wins 100%.
Print your photos!! Seriously, it’s such a fun experience seeing them come to life from the screen.

I’ve done the same: so the photographers who do this on the subway. Liked up the printer, bought it and I am amazed by it
Have one of these years they are great, youll want to pump the saturation about 10/15% to get the best results it prints a tad washed.
Oh yeh? I find mine pretty consistently close but I might give this a go and see the results. Thanks for sharing
Which do you think is the best setting for the “finish” between the glossy/matte options for best quality?
@@collegeinvestor7095I prefer semi-gloss 🤷🏻♂️ but you should try the different options, you might like a different one
I wonder if you printed a pick of a colorite passport if you could get ”perfect” sat and color
@@chrisbrockhurst its probably inconsistency in the inks tbh,i stopped buying genuine a long while back, getting better PPP now.

love this printer
I’m glad you ended up buying one, such good value for $$
I found one of these at a thrift store during covid for 10 bucks and it was the best find ever!
Snap the edges both ways and it just breaks off, no tearing required and you get a perfect edge.

The simulation is real!! I put one of these in my Amazon basket 2 days ago 😂 thanks for reaffirming my impulsive needs 💪🏽😂
Enjoy!!
got one a week ago and very impressed.

Oh no! What happened to it to break? But yeh I’d buy another one immediately if this failed on me. I’m a huge fan
Love my canon printer. Was lucky enough to have my battery pack from a older model
super cool, love your videos!
Appreciate that!
Very nice! I need to get one.
Definitely try it
Will do. Looks super fun with the kids also. U know they always like instant gratification😆. Cherry blossom idea out at UW🤔 I'll see you there😂
Great video 📹
I've seen a smaller canon one, called a Zoe and Zoe 2.
Definitely tempted to get one.😊
They use ZINK paper and they are awful quality. Photos fade too, avoid. Get the Selphy QX20 is you want 2x3 and 2.7x2.7 square photos
ive had one of those canon printers but after 2 months all pictures are tinted red soooo im using epson printer now and it works just fine.
Uh oh! I’m 2 months in and no issues yet, fingers crossed
Yes I own this printer its very nice!
Yep!

The bundle kit, does print 100 photos? That’s amazing then
If it’s the one that comes with the 108 print set then yeh

I have one for a year now and love it. But it's really mostly for at home printing. The battery almost costs as much as the printer itself lol
Yeh the battery ain’t cheap. That’s why I went for the 3rd party one
Which camera is used for filming this video
Sony FX3/FX30
I’d love if this thing could do a pano
You could definitely crop for it but would be a lot smaller. Xpan printer would be unreal

I want it

I will say if you don't need them immediately, Walmart does $.14 4x6 prints which are pretty good for what they are
