Season 6 is honestly a great season to me. I especially like how they were trying to subtly introduce a new cast while wrapping up the OGs major story arcs. If they had another season or two this would've been really interesting
THIS! My best friend and I literally had this same conversation a few weeks ago about how we wish they would have pushed for 1 more season JUST to see how the story would have played out with the newer cast in the frontrunner seat. I totally think it would have worked.
I've always said that I would have liked to have seen Jada Pinkett's character, Lena, marry "Choir Boy" Dorian. Also, to see Freddie and Kim maintain their disciplines in law and medicine, respectively. What a positive influence it would have been for everyone, but particularly, for the Young, Gifted and Black
@@BiracialTanikaThey’ve speculated that was the beginning of the show’s end, but honestly that beginning was Cosby wrapping at the end of the previous season. Not having the Cosby lead in led to ADW being deprioritized in NBC’s eyes. The network ended up moving it to different time slots, then they took the show off altogether around midseason. The series finale ended up airing on a Saturday, then NBC eventually ran about six weeks worth of shelved episodes during the summer rerun season (so the finale technically ended up not being the final original episode aired; I think it might’ve been the 2Pac episode). One of the shelved episodes that was delayed until summer was a pilot for a potential spinoff for Jada, Ajai and them where ADW would’ve essentially gotten the same treatment Saved By The Bell ultimately did with a refreshed cast (save for a couple holdovers), but delaying that episode killed whatever momentum the idea could’ve had.

This was one of my favorite shows ever. This show got better when Denise (Lisa Bonet) left. Her leaving allowed the other characters to grow at a much faster rate than had she stayed. Plus, Dwayne had better chemistry with Whitley....
Actually the writing and production got better. Denise was just a character. in the first season of this show there was Denise, Jalessa, and the other girl that I don't know her name. when season 2 came out, both Denise and that other girl quit the show, but Jalessa stayed almost until the end. can't believe she quit when the last season came out!
+Dooky123 Lisa Bonet and the other girl (Marisa Tomei) was removed from the show and Dawnn Lewis (who played Jaleesa) left before the last season to do the show "Hangin' with Mr. Cooper".

However I hated how the producers messed up this season's timeslot after the L.A. riots episode, that caused the downfall of the series. Despite all of this, the show was losing steam back in season 5, when the simpsons was on the Thursday timeslot on Fox, and when characters like Sinbad and Dawnn lewis left the show. Pay attention, guys. This is a culturally distinct, topical sitcom featuring a black cast of characters that a) aren't all a family unit, b) all get treated with dignity, and c) connected with the audience without the need of a Caucasian "audience surrogate" character (and the one there was in season one was an Oscar winner-to-be.) To bad i was running the streets in 92-93 to catch any of these episodes. Oh and JenniferLewis , Charnelle, Cree Jasmine, Dawn, just a great group of people who inspired a generation.
Bumper is a major voice actor I hear him a lot in DC cartoons and other shows I get his voice confused with Phil Lamarr sometimes Bumpers voice sounds similar to Lamarr’s static

season 6 was just perfection - from the intro to watching whitley and dwayne as a married couple, as well as ron as the next door neighbor. this could easily be seen as a short little spin-off
Wow, Different World could still be running today, with a new cast of actors/students every few years. AND, indeed, Guy, Hardison, (and Bell) could have easily spun off their own new show, as well.
As much as I loved this song, and season 6, man the last season was when the show really jumped the shark, or maybe it was Season 5. Same for the Cosby show, back in season 8. 1991 was when both shows ratings were starting to collapse, but this season definitely takes the cake. I remember a simpsons clip where Homer was telling Bart that Bill Cosby wanted the The Cosby show to end before the quality suffered. Ironically enough, the spin off ratings declined drastically a year later, and NBC cancelled it in 1993. Good show, though.
Michael Jackson Right. I blame the former preseident Warren Littlefield for causing the show to get cancelled. Even though the show was going to end at some point, since the cosby show(although ended in Spring 92) and cheers were ending anyways, it was horrible how the NBC treated the show during the last season.
@Toni Gordon that explains why they introduced new characters in seasons 5 and 6. I always thought they were trying to subtly bring in a new group of kids to replace the original by that point. Which, to their credit, was done pretty brilliantly and better than when they tried to the same thing with saved by the bell the new class
They were setting the scene for another spin off with Lena, Gina, Charmaine, Terrell, Dorian, The Dean and introducing Billy D Williams character. I guess it never transcended into anything or maybe it didn’t test well.
You know I am a kid from Gen Z and watching this 90s show with my parents. The first time we saw season 2 without Denise my brother and I flipped out. But ever since Denise and Mags left and Debbie Allen came this show has been on fuego. Especially season 5x25!
Debbie Allen would have made it creative even with if they stayed. Lisa Bonet left due to her pregnancy. Debbie wanted to work that in the show with a story around Denise being pregnant but Bill wouldn’t allow it. She also wanted to keep Marisa Tomei and make an episode about Dwayne taking her to meet his parents and seeing the other side or racism
I love when Jasmine Guy, Kadeem Hardison, Cree and others appeared on Living Single. Even The late Lou Myers as Khadijah’s Nana’s friend. Still have a crush on Jasmine! “Dead Like Me” she was savage!

my fav theme of the show
Bruh this could be its own song, it's so good
You know I am a kid from Gen Z and watching this 90s show with my parents.
I still watch this show lol bounce tv
My favorite theme song from this show love boys 2 men 😊
It went smoothly from lisa bonet leaving to jasmin guy and Dwyane being the lead
The best intro for this classic tv show!!!
Remembering Black old school 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 different world
Now I love this theme
I love when Jasmine Guy, Kadeem Hardison, Cree and others appeared on Living Single. Even The late Lou Myers as Khadijah’s Nana’s friend. Still have a crush on Jasmine! “Dead Like Me” she was savage!
Yes I noticed that as well. Almost all of the cast was on at least one episode of Living Single.
Love this intro!
The soundtrack to this is amazing!
I'm sure I'm not the only one who finds the globe's appearance at the end a little bizarre. It doesn't seem to fit the rest.
Probably symbolic, to indicate that the world is theirs for the taking now that they're ready to graduate and head out into it.
